i have never seen casa blanca, but i am sure hepburn is not in it.. but no.. i am not making fun i truly adore the movie "The African Queen" i am a big fan of hepburn..

and yeah, its ingrid, must explain why i didn't watch it.. like i said, bogey isn't very good without a great co-star.

My flatmate just got me into an anime series called "Naruto" which he
has been downloading, and since sunday I've watched 14 episodes and I'm
completely hooked. It follows the adventures of a young ninja in
training called Naruto, as he climbs the ninja ranks towards his dream
of becoming the next Hokage - the strongest ninja in the village. With
him on his travels and missions are his rival Sasuke, object of his
desire Sakura, and sensei Kakashi, but there are also a huge range of
characters who appear in the series that are given far more depth than
seen in most shows.

A straightforward anime, it has none of the confusing and often
nonsense scientific or philosophical speal that ruins some others. It
features some excellent fights, a good sense of humour, a wide range of
likeable characters, and a cool soundtrack. The past few episodes I've
watched have been a bit disappointing in that they feature a lot of
flashbacks and the pacing is a bit slow, but I'm told it will pick up
again soon.

The series hasn't been released outside of Japan, but over there it has
over 100 episodes and is still in production. Very much recommended,
certainly one of the best anime shows I've come across.

in case it escaped anyones notice, i watched 80 days today.. two thumbs up :smile:

If it's an ongoing series past 3 seasons, it'll go forever. And eventually make it's way here, edited.

Reno, naruto is great, I don't really watch much anime (pokemon and full metal alchamist [sp?]) but naruto is very good, two of my friends have got all of the episodes, must of taken them a loooooonnnggggg time to get them.

I watched high fidelity last night, it was quite good, 7.5/10. Apprently it sticks really close to the book.

Well i've recently been watching the Little Britain series one on DVD - oh and i'm about half-way through series one of Millenium too. Just bought the second season ready :smile:

Shut up. There are several british and austrian actors here that star in everything. Most of them are good actors. Don't get all pissy because of that. You still have Lord of the Rings, 4 people in that series are American.

I think what $loth is getting at is that it would be nice to have a British film that doesn't have to have big American names in order to sell itself across the pond.

e.g. Notting Hill, Bridget Jones etc.

28 Days Later did pretty damn well, and I hear Shaun of The Dead is doing ok as well. There ya go, there's two. :razz:

It's quite sickening really...even British productions do it. I watched the first episode of 'Hex' the other day (Brit produce) and everyone was yer typical toff.

Oh, and the only football (sorry, soccer...) team in the UK is Manchester United :wink:

Nicholas Cage can act (surprisingly)... the only problem is: he can only act when he plays a psycho or a very disturbed person, which is rare.

If the idea of a character named Benjamin Franklin Gates hunting around for buried Egyptian treasure hidden by George Washington using the design on a one dollar bill for clues doesn't set off your "God damn, how lame can movies get?" alarm, then I dunno what to say. Perhaps you need to change the batteries - you're supposed to check them every month.

Hit the nail on the head. Any scene with Cage is so wooden it's like a furniture store has been thrown into the movie o_O !

Heh, I actually went out of my way to get that on DVD! The film isn't great but i'd just played Far Cry with the section on the ship and thought that Virus might make a decent project for a game mod. Obviously I never acted upon it though!

for the record, i like jamie lee as an actress, and the movie virus was watchable.. it was not life impacting, but it was far from trash.

You have a low standard of trash if Virus didn't make your garbage list ...

i have a wide range of movies though.. BUT<--- points at word, i could never make a list of greats.. i have to damned many.

the great thing is, of the two of us, only i have to enjoy them, while i am watching them :heee:
