mp3... i dont get to control whats on the radio, and if it conflicts with my mood (which is common) it screws my brain up.

If you want intarweb radio... http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/listen/ course i get it on my real radio

from what ive heard from the UK/USA, this is probably the best radio station in the world. No ads, and no crappy pop music.

i prefer radio, for two reasons..

1) i hardly ever want to hear all one group, such as an album of AC/DC or whatever.
2) i don't want to know whats coming up next, music planned ruins it for me, i want spontaneity while listening.. i love to think "where was i when that was popular"

i may talk s**t about how much wiser it is to be old, but i remember vividly what it was like to be your ages... sighs i much preferred it then.. to be so sure of oneself, is wasted on the young.

Pfft, Winamp has a shuffle button to play random music. AND I take offense that you think we're all so sure of ourselves, it's not like there's an age requirement for pessimism.

i don't look at myself as pessimistic, i am not ashamed of being my age, i just remember being more sure of myself back then. i think of myself more as a pragmatist now, i know for instance that many will assume my age comment was meant poorly, when its really a case of wishing to be young again..

but its mostly a free world hugh, if you truly desire to be offended, who am i to ruin your plans

at the risk of turning this thread into an "old vs. young" debate, i have to agree with my good buddy Orpheus rex on this one, "youth is wasted on the young"....now, this is not meant to be a slam in any way gentlemen, but it is one thing to be able to hop out of bed with vim and vigor, complete the tasks of the day, and still have the energy at the end of it all to chase a woman, tip a case back, get yer second wind at 4 in th morning, and do it all over again the next day, whereas, at my age, taking 10 minutes to get out of the bed, and even though my hearts in it as it was 30 years ago, the body says, "f**k you, i quit", and time vs tasks increases exponentialy throughout the day......oh, to be young again.....and to know then what i know now, with all my former arrogance which has been depleted by reality, well...... :heee:

now where is that friggin time machine....

It takes me years to get out of bed if I can do it, which is only on the weekends, when I stay in bed for literally 2-3 hours and progressively get more tired. If I don't get out of bed in 10 minutes on schooldays, my mommy yells at me. Old people abuse.

I combat wanting to stay in bed by having 2 alarm clocks...one by my bed and another on the other side of the room, with a 5min difference between the two. The one by my bed goes first and starts the whole waking up process....then the other one scares me silly as i've just dropped off back to sleep - making me jump out of bed and dash to turn it off.

A bit elaborate I agree, but it works!

you guys are confused i think.. doc wasn't talking about lazy.. you young ones are describing laziness, we are talking about bodies that hurt to move thus making you sluggish or slow to get up.

i am still stuck in military mode, i can get up in less than 2 seconds, and function, but it hurts more and more each year.. but i can still do it.

lazy to rise and wore out are not the same

Well, I'm both. I'm tired so I don't want to get out of bed, school sucks so I don't want to get out of bed, I haven't done my homework so I don't want to get out of bed. But yeah, none of that niggling body pain, though my arm still hurts from a flu shot... I'm a wussy.

I use my Palm as an alarm clock, which is handy because it allows me to change the alarm sound. So basically whenever I feel that my current 'alert' sound is becoming less effective at waking me up (properly that is, as opposed to 'get up, turn it off, get back into bed' waking) I just rotate the alarm sound.

I think I'll select Revellie for tomorrow.

Anything other than opera, or electronic with a heavy 'boom boom' element.

Jazz and classical, as long as they're mellow, can be good for mapping.
