Apparently it's very, very buggy. I should be borrowing it soon, I've heard pretty good stuff about it.

Vampires are gay. Werewolves are much much cooler.

My flatmate bought it and says it has some really cool scenes in it,
well scripted and directed. Unforunately he says the action is pretty
lame and it doesn't take advantage of the source engine like HL2 does.
He is a fan of the V:TM role playing thing, so I think it appeals more
to him than me.

took 3 days to get but he seems to like the game. to me it seems sluggish, like it takes a bit more power to run than HL2 does.. plus its not my genre of choice so i doubt i'll play it.
2.2 gig downloads are not something i wanna do often either.

Leave it to Orph to complain that warez'ed games should be easier to download
I've seen a lot of demos and it looked cool. I'll probably get it in a couple months since HL2 is keeping me busy now anyway.

The game is pretty cool so far - though it doesn't feel like its using the Source engine at all - maybe it's just me but it feels more like the Quake II engine. It has that same chunkiness about it - and the same lame shiny surfaces that Soldier Of Fortune had
Also, the performance of the game is shocking - any of the outdoor areas slow my computer down badly, while indoors it's as smooth as silk.
The consistency of level design seems off too - some parts are really well done, while others feel a little cobbled together.
Like I said though, the game plays well enough, just a shame the graphics couldn't match up.

The game doesn't look like it was made with the source engine at all.

err... buh?
Vampire is built on the Source Engine. Troika has connections to Valve and thus were able to get the engine licensed before any other third party developers some time ago. Havok is -only- a physics engine, which was also licensed for HL2/Source.

Yep, it got held up for a while while HL2 was in limbo. Bad situation to be in. Hold it off longer and get people upset, or release it in the midst of the holiday season and probably lose sales.
Gotta snag that one from the company store here next order I make... probably monday. Hooray!

I purchesed it 2 days ago, been playing it since. It's a bit choppy and buggy, yet I would say it's one of the best rpg/fps i've played. =] Runs fine on my pc but does need a better pc than hl2 would.

Is it a game that you must have STEAM to run? OR is it ONLY using the Source engine? Graphics look okay.

It's just an engine base. No steam, it wasn't made by Valve and Valve hasn't leased out steam to other companies yet.
Isn't it the third in the series? I didn't care for Masquerade that much.
