Ok i had this idea that might interest you all:

I saw a map called twhl mix where loads of mappers got together and made a room each for the map.

I had a similar idea where we can make a snarkpit city

Each person here makes a building and they can all be placed in one map

Tell me what you think!

We've done this before, without release. Well, similar anyway - each
mapper involved built an area, so it's probably quite a bit more
difficult than a "city" (ie one building/one mapper).

People would be up for it, but I wouldn't start it yet - most people haven't even released for HL2 yet!

I had a good idea where you could make your own map and make it like a world fo your own, then someone could code an entity that when you press a button it takes you to a different server. So in essence you could have a MAIN room that has a teleporter for each world. i.e.. one could press the "gwil" button and be transported to the GWIL map on the gwil server. or press the HABBOI button and go there. The game wouldnt just be killing though, there could be LOTS of citizens in this virtual world and there would be a message board that you could connect to in the game engine and type just like IRC only it owuld show up on the wall of the "message board room" in the designated map. The more ppl that connected, the more it would be like THE MATRIX only FUN and you cold get out of it. Every citizen oculd have thier own building and put thier stuff in there. see where this is going?

Or just have a room on the map and get everyones maps compiled into 1, but have this 1 lobby room in the corner of the buildable space.

I like the building idea though, would be cool. Having to get a space to build on and such, seems cool.

Definatly sounds cool  instead of making them intertwine and whatnot,
draw up a city grid, map the city grid, plonk some filling blocks in
and make a page where people can click where they want to map, and make
the building, dimensions given

personally, i would choose a small house

Anyone interested?

You should probably wait a few years before attempting such a thing. I'd think a map on the scale of the snarkpitcrewmap would be impossible to run on current computers with current compiling tools and such, just like the snarkpitcrewmap would have been impossible to make for HL1 before better compile tools and faster computers came about.

I was about to make the same suggestion. Only this would be a HL2:DM map.

I took part in somthing like this back at valve-erc. What we did
was make a general layout. Broke the layout down into sectors,
seperated these areas by large doors that would match up on everyone's
map. So in the end each person was sent a map that had a
brush in witch there part of the map would be, and two (or more) door
frams that they had to connect their map to.

I'd love to work on this with you habboi

Here is how it will work out.

First we will
need a team of people who want to make this map. If you want to
contribute e-mail me at drglass@gmail.com. In the e-mail people
include:

Name

Location

how much you want to contribute (i.e. small, medium, large)

A little about yourself and your mapping experiance (noob or guru, your all invited)

Once we know how many people we be in on this I will layout that
map. Basicaly I will outline each area with a brush and add the
connections. Each person will then be sent their area of the
map. It will work out like this.

You will be limited to the size of your "box" and you will have to some
how connect your "mini map" to the "door" (the door will be more
like a large hole, this is the only thing you will share with the other
"mini maps")

we will work out a system for naming entities and how many props each person will be able to use.

If any one can help with some web space, that would be great.
