this is a group of picture of "RICELAND RICE" here in jonesboro, the images are of 3/4 or the circumference of the property, the other 1/4 was inaccessible. (good thing too, considering the shear volume of pictures) , hopefully some of the pictures in this thread will inspire some good HL2 stuff.

Looks like my own hometown.

Ahhh, life in the midwest...fields of wheat, the smell of cow patties and the lonely grain elevator against the clear blue sky...

HL1 has never seen maps like this picture, but still, instead of griping, post some odd buildings/regions of your own..

i am going to take some pics in a bit of a water treatment facility and possibly more..

but seriously guys, either add some pics or don't but try not to complain, someone may like them

Hmm, what's odd around here? Well the native Floridians are pretty strange...there's a gun store right across the street from a bank and billboard that advertises a funeral home just a 1/4 mile away from both buildings(Affordable Cremations starting at $545). Then there's a pharmacy on the other side of the bank, who is in direct competition with the funeral home. Then there's the funeral home with the worst name I've seen "Newcomer Funeral Home" Does anyone else see something wrong with that? "Welcome to Florida, now die." I think that's about all that's odd around here.

am i messing up your server?

i can remove the images, i didn't think that being from an internal source that it would harm anything

i can upload my pics to my briefcase and set it up as a slideshow if its messing up your system..

and edge, i lived in central florida for 4 years, there is some (limited really) stuff to post, look around

take some screens of the waterpark, i know its cool.

if you could get to the east coast and get some shots of the tidal electric plant, that might be cool as well.

use your imagination.

Orph, I think Lep is saying when you take your pics, there's no need to post ALL of them. Many of them are just like a two foot pan of another shot - it's extraneous. I'm sure I could imagine how shot #1 would look by looking at shot #2 and pretending a train got in the picture.

nods head at cash's comments

i believe you're right, but, this place is that big, still i can post a link to the folder and let people just go to it.

would that be better?

see i am no longer on 56k, so the whole 14 od comments still only take a moment or two to load :/

i think, if one out of ten shots inspires someone, its worth my time uploading them..

ideas guys? you want the pics self loading or links?

Link to a folder is best, saves the world bandwidth and lets people see exactly what they want.

... signs telling you you've been mapping for too long:
  • You 'clip' your food- only idiots and small children 'carve' it
  • You become convinced that pretty much anything on TV, cartoons included, would make a good level
You're getting close Orph

hell dude, i cannot stand a sniper map, but even i can see potential in those riceland shots

and gorby, i can link to the folder, but the shots are only numbers, you will need to look at each to know what is what.. i can do it, but it seems self loading would be better.. tis snarkpits call tho

probably the best format would be to post one representitive picture along with a link to more for those who are interested.

I'm heading home this weekend, so I might go early and stop off at each interesting looking town to grab some photos. Will take hours though, I'll need to wait on the next train going past to pick me up and get me to the next one, and so on  I might do half on the way home, and the other half on the way back to uni

I'll be using a traditional camera mate, not a digi cam, so I doubt the photos will come out well enough to use for textures  I'll try and grab some reference stuff to use for ideas though?
