Ok, first of all, I realize that most of you probably haven't played
Guild Wars. Some of you might of never heard about it
ethier. In summery, Guild Wars is an MMORPG with no monthly
fee. Visit
www.guildwars.com for more info.
This is a story about a noobish team going to the Hall of Heroes.
The Hall of Heroes is like the superbowl of Guild Wars PvP. Only
the best get to fight there normally. The best out of three
countries that is.
Well, here it goes, enjoy.
Yesterday, at about 11:40 PM, a team of necgros and monks made it to
the HOH. I happened to be one of those monks. The hall is
the most pretty thing you are going to see in guild wars. Imagine
(Because I was to busy fighting to take screens) and arena covered in
gold. Ok, the starting area was massive, about the size of a 1/4
of the underground. The ground is covered with gold plates that
you can leave footsteps in. The gate out is this stunning golden
gate with to angles flying. As the timer runs out and you are
allowed to leave, the gate ignites into an explosion of flame.
There is a walkway to the center battlezone. Along this walkways
are massive gold statues of all the gods. The center has four
ramps leading down into an octagon shaped room. In the middle is
a platform of shiny gold.
The objective: to capture that platform and hold it.
Our team was outmatched and outguned. We didn't deserve to be
there. I mean we had people that had only 3 fame! We were
called in to substute for a team that left. Anyway, as the gate
exploded we went on our way to try to do as much damage as we
could. The koreans were the first to capture the platform.
We charged in there like lunitacs and were quickly owned. But,
our distraction allowed the other american team to go in and capture
the alter. We charged in again, determined to get that alter
back. The resulting battle lasted for 5 minutes, and then, Korea
ran away. Korea drew back just as they were getting the upper
hand! Now it was just the two Americans. We fought like
mad, not expecting to live a second longer, yet we did. At one
minute left, Korea realized it's mistake. America wasn't going to
give up that alter under any condition. They charged back
in. And then the amazing thing happened. Us, the losers,
the noobs that didn't belong there, were winning! We were
winning! I looked at that scorecard to see us on top, and the
other teams dwindling. We did it. We were going to be Hall
of Heros chapions! And then the timer stuck zero. Red had
managed to prevent us from capturing the alter, and when time was up,
all that remained was that last american team.
I am, if you haven't realized, extremely proud of how my team
performed. Something about fighting for your country, even if it
is a trivial matter, gets your adrenaline pumping, and allows you to do
amazing things. Impossible things.
After that battle was up, I was pumped. Ask Gulsef.
Anyway, thats all I have for my amazing journey. If this story
had a moral, this would be it. Never give up, do your best, and
nothing is out of your reach.
