Has anyone played it? I downloaded it and played it last night, and wow from looking at the demo there is a great storyline, and some great gameplay after the first level(which is what the demo give you.) If you haven't tryed it here. They say the f-word twice in begining movies so watch out for that if you don't want anybody around you hearing it.

Played it a while ago and I really enjoyed it. People commented on the
guns looking too much the same, the level design being bland, and the
shadows being too sharp, but I think all were rather harsh comments.
All in all it got my thumbs up. Dunno if its on my shopping list (too
many other things I'd like just now) but maybe if I see it going in a
good deal.

It looked nice and everything, but it was still a warehouse/powerplant
complex. But I guess the rather mundane setting complements the
psychological horror theme well.

Oh, and about the demo - was there some special way to kill those
super-armored guys? I just went into bullet-time and pumped them full
of bullets, hid, and repeated.

I hit him with a grenade, then hid around the corner and waited for the normal guys to come to me. Once they were dead, i put bullet time and went in with a shotgun and gave him a bunch of up close blasts with that.

I didn't particularly like the demo. It just seemed to be a mish
mash of diff. games/themes. Max Payne bullet time, Doom3 looking
shadows and bumpmapping, Ring type horror...

I couldn't get the game to play decently on my comp.....was either
getting 4 fps or had it on 640x480 and completely pixelated to the
point that the quality was that of the original doom. I gave up after
chaging settings and exiting out of the game like 5 times trying to
tweak it.

Yeah, isn't this getting to be a problem with new PC first-person-shooter games? That when the renderer is scaled back on lower spec PCs (which are still above the min spec recommended), the visual quality is actually something that wouldn't look out of place several years ago?

I haven't played it, but I don't think I'll like it. Horror films really get to me, and I don't enjoy being scared (in a supernatural kinda way).

Really liked it for the fear element, reminds me of System Shock 2.
Level design was poor though, relied heavily on bumpmapped textures it
seems which made it look very plasticy. I doubt it has much
replayability though, once you know where the girl is gonna appear its
not the same. Id consider getting it, more because its not some
straight up FPS game (most of which just dont grab me anymore, HL2
included  )
Hello there.

I didn't think I would liek it either. I'm really not a fan of horror movies/games, but I tryed it out and thought it was quite good.

My favorite thing was how chunks blew out of teh wall when you shot them.

I didnt like the universe that F.E.A.R. seemed to be grounded in... it
was like corporate america / max payne warehouse hell... mixed with The
Ring. The Doom series still scares me more than the demo
did. I'm even talking about Doom 1 and 2 here. You remember
that dark maze area in the first level of Doom 1? The one where
you can get the chainsaw if you shoot the wall? Man that creeped
me out when I was younger. F.E.A.R. never came close.

Doom 1 scared the s**t out of me. I literally had to turn the
game off at one point because I couldn't take it.....all the background
monster breathing sounds.......man, how old was I......

However....Doom 3 scared the s**t out of me too......how old am I? .......

Haha, well pussies like us may or may not buy that game you're developing.

I hope its scarier than F.E.A.R. tries to be.

Curiouser and curiouser, right?

All I'll really say right now, as to not incriminate myself, is it's First Person, not necessarily a shooter, however, and strongly based on your personal wits, fears, and disorientation. Not to mention, there'll be a strong emphasis on replay value.

Not saying more would be a good idea, since, I want ZERO feedback at this point. I suppose one thing I'd guarantee is virtual platform independence.

Don't read too much into this, though. I doubt you'll see a shred of anything what so ever regarding this for many years. I'm still in college at this point with little to no help with ideas for things that aren't yet being used in gaming.

It'd be more likely if I put something fairly simple out before jumping into full blown development on this project.

And, seriously, when I do make something, do you honestly to see it being a mainstream game? I'm probably the poorest person on this site! Besides all the old people with mortgage debt, of course
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
