Yea, Im still alive. I havent been online in a long time.
And thanks to an old friend, I've come to realize its been TOO
long. Well things have been a fair bit hectic and I've also just,
plain not come here. I started college last week in Computer
Systems Technicien. And I was concentrating a lot of time and
effort over at another community, and now I realize I've left this one
and it saddens me.

We're going to give a shot at a map for Counter-Strike:Source, and see
how that goes. Although we both hope to get a release. I
guess for now its more hype than should be... at least for
me. Because we'll still have to deal with school, work, homework,
and our lives. And seeing as how we live 5 hours away, Im hopping
it'll me MSN conferences to help us communicate. Plain old MSN
just doesnt work.

So thats my thoughs, you guys just might see me around a bit. I hope.

Is it possible to install VHE without HL2 and/or Steam?

I don't think so... what would be the point of doing so? You wouldn't be able to test your maps...

You wouldn't have any material and all to work with anyway, only the entities when you have the .fgd.

You can use the old Hammer for architecture though and port that to
Hammer 4.0, so there's some sort of possibility outside Steam.

I've also heard people who got Hammer to run without Steam by
extracting some content out of the .gcf files. Don't know exactly how
they did that though.

The reason for this, is I have many hours a day (up to 5) in school
when I have nothing to do, so I'd like to work on a map. My
laptop, while new, doesnt have a good video card. Didnt want one,
seeing as how its for school. Its a Intel 810chipset I think.

I need VHE but I dont need or want HL2 installed. I guess I'll
install 3.4 and go from there. Its mainly just for brushwork
right now.

Another voice we haven't heard from in a long time. Don't feel bad that
