have patience my young padawan, i promise you, i won't let you down, someday soon, i will bash the holy s**t out of something you love, i won't realize it of course, and we will waste countless posts in determining this fact, but it will surely occur.

a week cannot go by without some thin skinned member crying about my posting something they don't like

Well, if you really wanted to watch certain things, you can buy them online (or download them). The other really cool thing is, until someone releases the series in whatever country you're in, excluding Japan, obviously, it's perfectly legal to download and distribute the show. Movies usually have international copyrights from the get go.

i think buying them is me best bet with 56k @ home.

Doesnt intenational copyright supposedly prevent downloads & distributes, even if theyre not released say here in Oz?

...Not with most anime, they get minimal license until they are funded overseas and in other countries (it would be too expensive otherwise). I have no idea where you are, so I couldn't really tell you...

A while back I watched an anime where angels are coming down to earth and destroying stuff (I think because it was the apocolypse) and the humans are fighting them in giant robots. Just wondering since alot of people here are into anime... is this evengellian? If not does anybody know what I am describing?

I just watched Spirited Away and found it to be a really charming story with some amazing animation. Possibly a little twee in places but still spectacular never the less.

Kill Bill Volume 2 was bad ass and a wonderful ending to the story. I actually like volume 2 more then volume 1 ... even as good as volume 1 is. But they're both one movie anyway.

Its by the same guy that did Princess Mononoke and Laputa (or Castle in the Sky, can't remember which is the main name) isn't it? If it is, I can imagine your comments being right on the spot. Typically they are perhaps a little too family friendly to normally appeal to my tastes, but I enjoyed both of those nonetheless, and will certainly watch Spirited Away when I get a chance.

Does it actually make sense to split them up once you watch the second one? Because I have a feeling that it was done just for the hell of it. All they had to do was add a few filter scenes to get both movies to an optimum runng time, and thus both movies suffer (/me looks at the matrix sequels, which could have used some cutting and spliced into one movie).

Not yet released here, dammit.

No they work wonderfully as two movies. Also, it helps give it that EPIC Revenge feel.

I actually like the Matrix sequels. Not as much as the original by any means, but they are good. Reloaded needs editing (Rave, CG parts of Burley Brawl, Zion scene arangement) Revolutions doesn't need touching up at all, I think people just had a chip on their shoulder from Reloaded.

But yes they are essentially one movie ... however, would have sat there for 5+ hours watching it? I doubt it. Also, they were both edited differently. Revolutions was edited (If I'm not mistaken) by the 'Brothers' and Reloaded was mostly left up to the studio (thus the editing it has). They also wanted Reloaded to be hyped and Revolutions to just come out. Revolutions is what had the importance of the three movies, really. Secondly, I don't think anyone really has a right to say they did anything 'wrong' since it was their creation and they played it out how they saw fit. And that last scene in Revolutions, the Super Bruly Brawl I believe they called it, is only something that would be created out of passion for the story as directors, animators, and actors. A studio would not want to produce something like that. Revolutions cost so much money, it's rediculous, they literally used everything at their disposal, and I'm not talking about the CG bulls**t.

Anyway, that's my take on it.
Secondly, I heard that they were going to re-edit Reloaded and Revolutions to put the film footage from Enter The Matrix in ... but I don't think I could handle Reloaded if it were longer
But to be honest it needs a little tweaking and it would be wonderful ...

As for Kill Bill, Volume 1 had little character development except for The Bride and Oren. In volume 2 everyone is fleshed out and has depth brought into them. You find youself "understanding" why certain choices were made. By far Volume 2 is not a light hearted film, or at least not as light hearted as volume 1 was. However, if you're looking for the same amount of action that was in Volume 1 you wont find it in Volume 2, because that's simply not what it's about. But believe me, it surpasses the first half of the story.

But dammit, I want to see those scenes with David Carradine fighting and stuff ... they're in the trailors but not the films. Weird ... anyway, I've writen way too much in this post.

[EDIT]
Yeah, Troy looks bad ass. I think the one thing I'm looking forward too the most is watching Orlando Bloom die!! because he's a terrible actor. And taking that the movie is based on The Iliad, he dies. Everyone dies, almost.

By the way, that hunk of crap "I, Robot" looks like such utter crap I can't even imagine how bad it is.

I checked out Kill Bill vol 2 over the weekend and I was definitely impressed. The whole beard grabbing that ancient teacher had going on was pretty nifty. It was a lot more Tarantino-esque, at least in my mind what counts as Tarantino-esque. At one point Carradine delivers the requisite over-analysis of some pop culture item. Tarantino's hit Top Gun and Like A Virgin, this time it's a far less graphic, but probably more situationally appropriate, tale of Superman.

On splitting the movies, I think the decision handed down was split it into two or make major cuts. Tarantino chose to split it. The division works fairly well, even though it follows a slightly non-linear storyline. Reservoir Dogs level, not anything like Memento or even Snatch. An extra "scene" was added to bridge the gap and remind you of what's gone down, but it's pretty much the black and white driving bit with the cheesy backdrop of Uma in the trailer. It works well for a prologue, definitely bringing you up to speed on what you need to know without a fifteen minute what-happened-last-time segment. Anyway, go and watch it. Great film with some truly memorable moments.

Two of them are working titles, fool. I'm sure they just ran into some legal issues with their original name or something. The game Biohazard was renamed as Resident Evil in the west because of the band with the same name (who had already copyrighted the name).

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't stand Pearl Harbor. The battle scenes were cool enough, but the human element was so detached from these sequences that by the time they started bombing, I just didn't care about any of them. Besides, Ben Affleck can't act for bread. He annoys me so much.

i loved all versions of the pearl genre' but had always felt that the "Human" aspect was always missing, till this version.

people had lives before WW2, yet few movies realized it.

shoot, till recently, no one even went potty

although few will prolly agree with me, i thought this version was 10/10

Totally agree with Kage- substandard love story to start it off, which has no relevance whatsoever when the planes start flying and the bullets start killing. Cassius stamp of hate required, methinks, asbsolutely s**t film.

My memories of Pearl Harbor (the movie that is) are vague; what most stuck out for me was the fact that it had almost as many fake endings as Return of the King (which had seven) in that whenever you desperately willed for the goddamn thing to wind up, it would keep going. There's only so much of watching Ben Affleck and Matt Damon gaying up the place that a man can tolerate before he snaps.

Liv Tyler was hot. (That being said, I don't even recall if she was in the movie - what's that sound? That's the oh so sweet sound of points being taken off.)

Donnie Darko. Wow. I saw that one with Skeletor. First of all, I absolutely despise the idea that in order to actually have intellectual integrity, you have to be 'enigmatic' or make it so your work makes no sense without being deciphered. This movie follows this vile trend: rather than being a movie like Fight Club or The Usual Suspects, where you'll watch it over and over to really soak in the ideas the film presents, you'll watch Donnie Darko about five million times before you so much as understand the chronology of the events in the story. Our champion, Donnie, walks around defeating the nefarious philosophies of 'lumping emotion into two categories', and making it very clear that everyone who opposes him will have their house burned/flooded and is obviously a child molestor. The chick isn't even hot.

The part where he talked about the smurfs was inspired.

I saw this stupid article saying that the british movie industry 'lost' so many millions of pounds to dvd's people didn't buy because they downloaded instead, but what a load of nonsense? Orph, if you were not able to download any movie ever, would you have bought anywhere near the number of DVDs that you have otherwise managed to 'get'? I think not. Whoever comes up with the figures for how much money has been lost to in-home pirating is out of their mind. I can understand them talking about money lost to people selling copied DVDs in markets and stuff, because in that case there is a revenue stream that is being interupted, but with downloading, I don't see how you can calculate a lost revenue, when there is nothing to say that even a majority of downloaded films would have been bought, were the downloading option not available... As far as I can see, people use downloading as something to have in addition to the money that they are otherwise prepared to spend on media products (CDs, DVDs, going to the cinema).

i saw a more realistic statistic on the news recently involving music theft.. the survey stated that it takes almost 400 downloads to equal one stolen cd or somesuch, but the interesting point IMO was, music theft promoted buying, because people use the theft system to sample music, they otherwise would not have bought outright.. in other words, country people buying punk, and soul music listeners buying rap, ect, ect.

that made far more sense than, stolen = stolen

Exactly. And honestly, how does watching a divx compare to going to a huge-screen cinema? If some of your friends are going to the cinema to see some new film, and they ask you to go along, who in their right mind replies with "no, i'll wait for it to download and save myself ?4"? It's not just the movie, it's the experience, and you can't download an experience.
