It's Thanksgiving in the USA pepper, a traditional celebration of
family and something to do with the founding of the nation, stuff like
that.
It's a good excuse to eat turkey and lots of cranberry sauce, and probably get drunk as well!
( i think this is what Orph means anyway  )

i always called it "Turkey Day" .. "Thanksgiving" has to much religious connotations IMO.. if nothing else it sounds biblish.
anywho's, i always thought that the holiday situation in the states were a bit off.. turkey day and xmas are to close, and have essentially the same meal plans for dinners.. why not move turkey day to june?
i don't drink often, and i don't usually do it with kinfolk around, as most of my wifes side is red necks and tempers usually increase with the level of consumption.
i am sure about looks at watch now.. guests will begin to arrive at most of the american homes, so post counts may drop off a bit
enjoy people, i know i will.

Damnit you posted a Thanksgiving thread before me. Gah! This is a day for Americans to stuff their fat faces even more and celebrate the raping of the indians land. Happy Broken Treaty Day.

Doesn't Bush get to pick one turkey which will be kept alive? It's freaking stupid, I know.

Orpheus, what you and your wife do and have done should never be divulged to these young ears.
Can you imagine the complaints?

i don't know what to say.... i genuinely laughed out loud.
im not even going to add to the "pie discussion"
i had thanksgiving yesterday, my PhD-having brother is in town. i
personally like pecan pie. last thanksgiving i was a strict vegetarian,
so i had tofurkey... worst thanksgiving ever. not eating turkey made
the holiday seem incomplete. but this thanksgiving i had huge amounts
of everything! my mom makes this cranberry jello with mandarin oranges
and pecans, and then there was stuffing and turkey and yams and mashed potatoes
and gravy and green beans and rolls... a friend brought over cranberry
bread... now leftovers! bitchin! too bad i probably put on 5 pounds in
one night...

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Maybe if HL2 Gets DM we will have a new "Turkeyburgers" map for HL2 by next turkeyday! (for those who don't know, turkeyburgers is a map for HL1 where everything is supersized and you are the size of a rat. it's fun!)

Great Holiday=Comes off without a hitch.
My idea of a successful holiday, is one without any sort of a confrontation. Today came together almost flawlessly. Holidays are not food, holidays are family being forced under one roof. Most times siblings.
Adult siblings tend to act like time stood still, which is definitely not the case. The more siblings, the more chances of some sort of an issue arising.
As I said, If you can get through the day with all your good intentions intact it equals "WIN"
Today, was WIN.
