Do you think Charlie Sheen would make the perfect Gordan Freeman in the Half Life movie?

When I played the original Half-Life, my fiance saw the loading screen over my shoulder, and she asked me "why do you have a picture of Charlie Sheen on your computer?"

However, I hope no one will ever make a movie out of Half-Life. I just don't think such an expertly-designed game should be tarnished by some bad Hollywood attempt to adapt it. Video games are not meant to be made into movies, in my opinion. But on the flip side, many movies are excellent candidate to have a video game made out of them.

I think the televion series "24" should be made into a first-person-shooter game.

Eeek, how dare you make a suggestion like that about 24! God knows what
opportunistic games developers are reading these forums...

Gordon does look a fair bit like Charlie Sheen actually, I think the
majority of us will have had that thought at one point in our lives

DONT EVEN SUGGEST SUCH ATROCITIES!!!!

The only reason we were saved from a DOOM movie was because some kid shot some people (not a good thing, but in a way it stopped a bad thing)

No half life movie!!!

But if there has to be one, im gonna do the freeman thing and walk away from it!

This poll is about if Charlie Sheen would make a good Gordan not whether or not a movie should actually be made. Your screwing up all the votes.

He looks like Gordon, but lacks all acting talent.

There are decent Game to movie adaptations that haven't tarnished the games they come from.

Diablobasher, we are NOT saved from the Doom movie I'm afraid. Recent
news on it suggests its not set on Mars, and it doesn't feature
anything from Hell. Instead its set on some facility on Phobos (the
moon of Mars) doing secret tests and the monsters are very transformed
humans. Oh and no space marines, they are more like a SWAT team or
something apparently :S

Kage already posted that Reno... it sounds like an incredibly crappy movie. I havent played the game... and I wont be seeing the movie.

And Charlie Sheen does look like Gordon. So... who plays the others? Who would make a good GMan? or Walter?

Charlie Sheen does look like Gordon Freeman, But charlie would have to talk too much and Gordon doesn't talk at all. I'd like to see ol' Chas back in business, He's not a bad actor.

I hope we don't have an HL Movie though. That would just ruin it for me, I haven't played this "Half-Life" game yet. (JK)

G-man: Jeremy Irons (A la Time Machine)
Walter:
Eli: Morgan Freeman
Alyx: Jada Pinkett Smith
Kleiner:
Breen: Sean Connery (sans accent, cocky swagger etc...)
DOG: This giant mechanical dog I know.
Grigori: Jean Reno
Lamarr: Liza Minelli
"The Advisor" (giant grub on screen in breen's office): Sally Struthers

Will finich casting later

I'd say Christopher Walken for the
G-Man (as long as you don't mind stereotypical Walken). Malcolm
McDowell would be the Administrator.

Gordon
would have f**king lines in the movie. It wouldn't make sense if he
didn't. In a movie you become a 3rd party observer. Not the person
who experiences the happenings, but rather someone who experiences
the observation of someone experiencing the happenings.

To be
honest, there's enough story to motivate a HL1 based movie (HL1,
Opposing Force, and Blue Shift combined would do that). Starting with
HL2 material wouldn't make sense at all without making up a complete
new story.

I think someone who'd play Gordon well (not s**tty
like Charlie Sheen) would be Edward Norton. Seriously. Think The 25th
hour and Post-Prison American History X. He looks the part and is one
hell of an actor.

Alyx isn't exactly black and I consider
Jada Pinkett Smith as
a not so great actress. I'm not talking about A-Listing the movie.
Because if people were actually cast the proper people would be
mostly unknowns.

Vince Vahn could pull off a smart ass Barney.

Michelle Forbes, who voiced Mossman and played the President's advisor
Lynn in 24, could probably do the same role ok in a movie.

Actually, Crono, I was just looking for ppl that kinda LOOK like the characters. An Malcolm McDowell could play the part GREAT!

I know of a LOT of actors who would do better than a-list actors. You would have to have a great casting team though.

Charlie Sheen isnt too bad - well... he's ok in Platoon, but i can give
you the major lapses like terminal velocity Crono, even I admit that.

God help us if they make a half life movie - im not even going to
entertain the perfect cast because the story (in reality, lets face it)
isnt movie material at all. Half Life was special for its story because
it wasnt just the bog standard FPS layout of years before..

YOURE ON AN ALIEN WORLD AND INVADING AND YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE END AND ESCAPE BY KILLING EVERYTHING. GOGOGOGOGOGGOGO.

Thats the Doom movie all over!

You basically posted a weak thread, with a yes/no poll option.. no room for debate, discussion.. anything.

And when people do partake in your poll you say theyre dumbasses,
essentially because they don't think that Sheen would be good as
Freeman (ie your opinion, chalk one up for fascism boys!).

Way to go with building social bridges and allowing open dicussion, and 10 out of 10 for humour!

First of all, you spelt his name wrong. It's "Gordon". But anyway,
Charlie Sheen might look like Gordon in that one movie, but think about
others such as Edward Norton. Imagine him from American History X, with
a tad longer hair and glasses.

Kevin Costner would make a better Gordon Freeman... He's tall, cool, and a much more convincing killer than Charlie Sheen. Think of him in that crazy movie with the 5 Elvises robbing a casino.

OK, how about we stop caring about looks. We do a fully CGI movie, a la final fantasy. We get the original voices for NPCs, find some B-grade to voice Gordon. We can make this work people.

But if it must be live action... Walken would make an OK gman, hed need thicker eyebrows of course. Jeremy Irons would do a good gman I suppose, and is probably more affordable... but on the question of Gordon... who knows.

Oh dear lord. Did someone really call Kevin Costner cool? I hope that was sarcasm...

I don't think Charlie Sheen would make a good Freeman because a) I
don't really think he looks much like the picture on my HL2 box, and b)
I think he learnt his acting off the back of a cereal packet.

Ed Norton would probably do a good job although he still doesn't quite
have the same look as Freeman.. To be honest I don't think there are
many people who could pull off those humoungous glasses well.

Did anyone else notice "Dr. Carmack" will be in the Doom movie?

Dragonfly was horrible. It had me going up until the whole Africa bit. But when Africa hit, it took a massive turn for the worse.

I had pretty much given up on him before, and I've never even thought about seeing anything else he was in since.

No no no...Bill Cosby for Eli Vance (he's still alive right?)
Ok, I haven't looked at this thread much, but I totally agree with this
 When you meet Eli in his lab for the first time, the first person
that came to mind was Bill Cosby.

Kids say the darndest things!

Oh and on the subject of the Doom movie, I wanted one to be made, I
dunno if it'll be any good, though... I think they got the casting
right though. I think The Rock could play Sarge quite well actually,
and Karl Urban is a good choice for the Doom Guy. I heard some stuff
that it wouldn't involve demons or hell or anything. I don't know if
this is true but I don't care one bit! As long as it retains the scare
factor and suspense and stuff (and doesn't turn out like the Resident
Evil movies), I think it'll actually be quite good.

crono, if you haven't noticed, your positions on movies is not paramount (no pun intended) .

if you were to tally the times you liked a movie that someone else did, you might be up to 5 or 10.
