Since we all live in so many locations I thought it would be interesting to ask,
"Whats it like durning the winter months where you live?"
I hope that this thread will stay active long enugh to possibly gain some pictures from home when it arrives.

You are so ignorant! Acting like we are all recieving winter now! Oh,
and I suppose the Southern Hemisphere does not exist! :X Anyway, here
summer is now arriving, but in winter it rains non stop and sometimes
snows, also it is VERY windy. Wierd sounding for Africa
I would love to change the world, But they would'nt give me the source code.

Umm well, what we have in my country, Dubai, is really interesting...
Since we are in the middle east, it barely rains, it was very rainy
before 10 years, but now, pollution and humidity overcome the nice
rain...
Here is the interesting stuff my country does:
Some times, in winter, we would see large thunder\heavy rain clouds
pass over Dubai, we always wondered how, its strange to have these kind
of storms here, and every week, in the last winter, it should rain,
heavily, except for 2 weeks which only clouds were flowing above us...
After winter finished, everyone knew why it rained, and it really surprised me..
Every week, the government launches a machine, that gather the clouds
somehow, i think using technological gadgets to condense the wet humidity around
it, they launched 10 machines, 2 didn't succeed, thats why only clouds
were flowing above us for 2 weeks without raining, each machine, costs
half a million dollars...
Its really surprising, but now its normal for everyone in Dubai, hehe...

Up here in sweden, its pretty creepy.
I remember sitting on the bus on my way to my Karate when i looked out
the window and it was almost pitch black out there, at 6:40 am.
It hadnt been anything near that darkness only one week ago, but its always been like that here in Sweden.
Strangely enough, it havent started to get cold yet, 15 C right now.

We get plenty of snow here in Vermont, and it gets very cold. My
first year here I had to buy a facemask (you know the kind with only
holes for the eyes and mouth) for the 20 minute walk from my dorm to
the pool at 6:30 in the morning through the snow to make it for morning
swim practice. Those walks were the worst!
I gets well below freezing, especially when its windy... but it's definitely beautiful (from inside a warm building).

I can see Gloabal Warming coming into this topic! Anyway, global
warming has done good for our country. Scientists have found that the
climate change has been moving the "cold zone" over our country, so
instead of dry, 45c heat all year round, we now, very bizarely, have
rain. All the time! Totaly wierd! If you came here instead of thinking
you were in africa, you would think it's scotland! Right now its
supposed to be hot, and the same for 4 months ago. Its still raining
and snowing on the mountains to this minute! Creepy really!
I would love to change the world, But they would'nt give me the source code.

Oregon used to have snow and such every winter and much harsher weather. (Look through the history books ... Donner family in-particular and you'll see what I'm talking about)
Over time agriculture and population changed the temperature. (Cut down trees and adding homes increases the temperature) So, now it doesn't snow in most elevations ... er ... populated elevations. Mostly just rains ... like right now ...
Also, the Pacific Ocean is relatively warm, so that's another reason. The only time it actually snows is if we get some pressure from Canada and Alaska. I'm pretty sure the reason the East coast gets snow like crazy during Winter is because of the Atlantic. But that's a guess. (It's because most of the states are smaller there and more populated than here. Also, a lot of it is around the same elevation, so it'd have to be the ocean, right?)
Then again, Winter doesn't begin until late December
And yeah, it's summer in the southern hemisphere.
But, that doesn't stop you Aussies from saying what WINTER is like.
Crazy southern hemisphere ... with your moon in the wrong direction.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Winter in sunny Southern California is not much different from summer, or from any other season for that matter.
It's already November, and it's 85 F today (30 Celsius). It's sunny throughout winter, and it never gets too cold. I still wear shorts in January.

Dark and rainy, or bright and cold, generally. I prefer the latter.

im sorry but i have to argue. the donner party traversed from Independence through all the states across Nevada. then through the Sierra Nevada, is where they encountered the huge snowstorm, which is in California. but since oregan is realtivly close to california you could have been merely comparing the two.
i apoligize but im in a quite argumentative mood today!

This will be my first winter in Van Buren. I don't know what its like just yet. The winters in Dallas are a bitch. Mostly ice. Some freak of nature causes the jet stream to pause just above Dallas so its cold as hell but not very thick. it rains on top of the cold and scatters ice all over the place.
I hope its different around here.

Well, up north it's our time to shine
It's pretty f**king cold in the morning for the walk to school (I've
already got my thick winter coat out for the morning). It's also
quite dark in the mornings.
Continuing on the day; lots of wind, rain/hail (just not cold enough for snow) and just plain old dreary weather.
It gets quite cold at night, heating bills are going through the roof...
God, what a double edged sword. Plus side being snowboard season is starting! woo!

Personally I love the rain, wind and darkness (very rarely snow) that I
get. As one of my friends describes it: "druggie season" is when you
can run around the streets at night unnoticed with few 'normal' people
ever seeing you. The person I'm currently going with gets Seasonal
Affective Disorder, something I personally believe is a recent
invention, therefore its a bit of a double edged sword; everywhere to
go, but noone much to go with! (you might just tell I'm an antisocial
type by this  )

They have special lamps at my school that people with SAD can use to counter the gloominess of the winter months.

Well. Winter.... In bavaria this means snow. Pretty much of snow.
Mostly so much that you can hide behind walls of snow without squatting
or anything.
This is the time of the touritsts (like it is during summer) when they all come skiing and boarding.
I might can take some pitures when the snow comes. At the moment it's
just raining. And freaking cold. I can't await the time when the
snowtournaments will begin.
so far
