So, somehow my snake got out of it's cage (literally, you perverts) and
is somewhere in my house. Anyone have any ideas for catching this
thing? It's not poisonous, but it's a real pain in the ass.
I do'nt know if anyone has any experience in this field, but I need to find it, and I need to find it fast...

Napalm?

Why don't you just leave some dead rodent on the middle of the floor
and wait? But make sure it's stinky. No, seriously, bait it.

If you can tolerate it... just open all the widows and doors, but leave a heated (electric) blanket or two strewn about the house. As the temperature in the house drops, the snake will naturally find the warm spots, and the lowered temperature should slow it down as well!
I've no idea if this would actualy work, but it seems logical to me.
Some people are like slinkys...
They aren?t really good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one tumbles down the stairs.

Or it'll get outside, slow down and not be able to get back in.

nope, you were right money, normally that's the best way, since most snakes can't reach you when you hold them up by the tail. don't try it with a black mamba, however, because they can, and they've also got quite a nasty nip.

Don't try grabbing snakes unless you're experienced at it. Even the non-venomous snakes have a nasty bite.
A simple way would be live bait. Most snakes can't resist a caged
mouse/frog. Although I'd recommend calling a professional to get it.

My snake is quite harmless, it will nip if frightened, but can't hurt you at all.
My plan, after being advised by someone else, is to take some damp
clothes and lay them on the floor, in a kind of nest, baited with a
fresh mouse. Hopefully it'll stay there...

I meant the snake stays there. I feed my snake dead mice, because
it was raised on dead food for about 2 years before I bought it.
Suddenly changing that often results in the snake getting bitten and
such.

So have you checked all the warm dark places like omega suggested?

Yeah. Right now I"m fairly certain that it's in the
basement. I'm not confident that it could have climbed the stairs
in our house, but then again I guess I wouldn't be surprised.. still
can't figure out how it escaped the terrarium...
I've checked everything in the laundry room, and near the furnace
(warmest places I can think of) and I've checked the perimeter of the
basement, behind all the furniture etc. and have come up emptyhanded.
My concern is that it's dead. It hasn't eaten in 10 days now, and
I know that it can survive that long, but it's going to be getting
weaker and maybe a little less venturous... or it'll do the opposite
and go nuts looking for food.

Maybe you could check random places... like backpacks... in a pile of dirty clothes... any place that has a nook or cranny.

snakes are fairl easy to catch if you have quick hands
just get a stick or something that you can get under the front region of its body and grab the tail
or
get a forked stick or something to pin its head down then grab its neck as close to the head as possible

Snakes are cute/cool animals! Especialy when they start nibbling your
balls in the middle of the night, and one of their fangs get caught in
it!
I would love to change the world, But they would'nt give me the source code.

I'd actually suggest just killing the stupid thing. If you can't handle
it then I don't see the point of it as a pet. Only zoos and exotic
dancers should be allowed to have snakes, its a bit like keeping a
llama in your closet just to be cool.
Kill it, bury it and salt the earth my friend.

Have you tried the Combine pulse rifle yet? If you don't hit it,
try the secondary fire. Just make sure your house in insured
first.

Don't Black Mamba's eat snakes? If so, just let one loose, wait a couple of days (be careful for it not to bite you in the face and kill you Kill Bill 2 style) and if your lucky, you should be able to find it about to eat your snake and get 2 snakes. If not, you keep the black mamba and still have one snake that you can use to get rid of people you don't like. You can't loose.
Unless it kills you.
Then you lose.

Sorry to revive a dead thread here, but I felt this was
interesting. I'd tried baiting it, trapping it, looking for it,
all to no avail. I gave up a month or two ago.
This morning I woke up and it was crawling across my arm. ?!?!
I still can't figure out what it ate for 3 months...

Hahah -- glad to see it resurfaced. I'm sure snankes can survive for 3 months without eating though, right?

Big snakes could last 3 months for sure, but the thing is this is a 4
or 5 year old Corn Snake. It didn't even seem hungry or weak when
I put it back in the terrarium, so I'm convinced it ate something...
