I was born in Fort Hood Texas. I have 3 children and have been married to the same woman since September 5th of 1981. I joined the Army at age 18 and became a Sergeant by age 21. I was a Combat Engineer and learned demolitions as a specialty.

I learned to map for the Build Engine and Duke Nukem originally and moved on to WorldCraft and HL1 in February of 1999. I have been assisting budding mappers for about, (looks at Snarkpit join date) a long time.

I have a mid sized PC, with plenty of room for upgrades. Its currently a 3500+ with an Radeon 9800 pro 256 driving it.

I hope to move on to Q4 mapping soon (with a bit of help from a good friend  )

I currently deliver new school busses all over the lower 48 United States. I drive in excess of 100,000 miles annually. I have visited only one Snarkpit member so far, seems courage is in short supply for the rest but I have hopes. I visited almost a dozen clan members when I was part of [DRS].

Sadly, I am currently on 56k and am about as enthusiastic as one can imagine for being so, so if I seem intolerably annoying at times, remember that this may be the cause.

You will either like me or you won't. There is no real in between.

Real Name: It's really long and Irish, so I'll just say Bruce Wayne.

I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine - January 17, 1989. That makes me 16, nearly 17.

My brother and his friends started playing Counter-Strike when I was in the fifth grade, so I started too. Soon after, thinking that maps were constructed from code, I got Worldcraft, intending to make an Iceworld clone before there was even an Iceworld.

Starting with my very first creation, I made my own textures for my maps. Textures and lighting soon became what I did the most and the best - and, honest to God, I think this seriously changed the way I look at both art and life. Most people look at sunsets to see something beautiful - I'm much more interested in looking at fade and bloom, the pitch of shadows, the way light and surface interact.

Looking back, I have to say that my time spent with Wally, Worldcraft, and Photoshop essentially amounted to screwing around: though I became skilled at making maps and reviewing them, I never actually released any, save for little fun maps to play with friends.

I pretty much stopped mapping with HL2 - my computer can't even run it anymore, for some reason. Right now, I'm playing World of Warcraft. A lot. I think I'll return to HL2 for DoD:S.

Started mapping a couple of weeks after HL was originally released
after digging WC off the CD. Never released anything, although have had

Born in Hyderabad, lived in Bangalore for (all my life). Did 12 years
of schooling in one place, and then joined a bachelors course (in CS)
at a college right next to school, so basically lived my entire life in
one area. I'm in my 4th year of college, hopefully finishing in june 06
to join a job somewhere here too. I will probably go down in history
for having the most boring life ever. And, if you were wondering, yes, I
actually am Indian and i'm not claiming to be that just to troll the
n00bs.

Found worldcraft on the HL CD, and then screwed up something. Came to
the Pit because I had a leak but didn't know it. I was helped a lot
with that by the pitters and stayed on to get a lot more help. All that
went nowhere because I never released anything notable, but I still
remember some stuff and try help out the occasional mapper on the HL
forum.

Never started mapping for HL2. Tried my hand at UnrealEd, CoD Radiant
and somesuch but didn't have the time/interest/motivation to continue.
Tried texturing, modelling, etc but lost interest. So basically I hang
on in here for the babes.

Spend most of my free time tinkering around with my linux install
(because NONE of my hardware seems compatible...) doing things that
windows users have been doing for the last 5 years, bitching at various
locations on the net under various names, and getting in trouble in
college for the crap I pull in the working hours.

I have no social life. No talents in music, dance, or any of the fine
arts. No skills in any sport. Fancy myself a bit with the martial arts
but routinely get my ass kicked by 12 year olds.

In short, a great simple life with nothing to complain about, but that's not going to stop me.

I went to school in the village that Robin Hood was suposed to have lived and been married in.

I left school 5 years ago and have done a GNVQ in IT and failed, half

take the test, a BTEC in Multimedia and actually passed and now I'm on
a BTEC in Graphic design and I recon I'll get kicked out of this one
soon aswell for being crap.

I started mapping back in 2001 and havent really released anything
good. I have tryed my hand at the UnrealED, Quake 3 Radient, and latly
I have been playing round with the Quake 4 Radient but I havent done
anything to write home about.

moving to China to teach English.

I first tried mapping when Marathon came out, and fooled around with
the Red Alert and Warcraft map editors for a little bit. I didn't
seriously start learning how to map until about a couple years ago,
when I joined a CS server that was runninig a custom map. The
creator was playing with us, and I remember wanting to have people play
something I created, so I had him show me how to get started. I
hung around the Counter-Map Forums for a summer, but then gave mapping
a break until HL2 came out. Now I map when I'm trying to avoid
big papers and projects.

For privacy reasons I understand, and hope that no one felt compelled to reply.

I do however hope that everyone posts who feels comfortable enough to do so. Real names tend to lend a life of their own to a conversation. I would not ask anyone's name privately, who didn't feel comfortable publicly because I might let it slip in a posting.

I only recently found out Lep's real name. I never asked, and he never volunteered so we knew each other years without any need to know.

Still do not know your name Myrk and feel no need to do so until you decide when.

I've lived all of my life in my native Scotland, but believe me when I

I've had a very easy life thus far. I have one sister, who is currently

My hobbies include computer gaming (obviously), game development,
ice skating, snowboarding, rollerblading, and skateboarding. I don't
find myself doing many of those very often, for better or worse - part
due to my rather lazy nature, and partly due to the crappy Scottish
climate. I'm certainly not a natural sportsman but I've got fairly good

Started playing Doom at around age 4-5, and that game was single-handedly responsible for getting me into gaming. The first mapping tools I acuired were the s**tty as Genisis3D11, which I couldn't do nill with. At age 11, I got Half-Life for the PS2 for my birthday, and a while later, I remember fishing a PC half-life box out of a dumpster and reading how you could construct your own levels with a level editor.

At age 12, 6th grade, 2002, I purhcased Half-Life for the PC, and about a month later, I found worldcraft and have been mapping since. A lot of my work has never been seen, and I did atleast a good full year of mapping (most of that year consisted of s**tty n00b maps, but I still had fun and learned quite a lot). My debute project, Classic, taught me more about mapping than anything else.

(and that's all I got time to write for right now. I got classes! )
