I wanted to show off a few things I've done, so I though, why not just
make another one of those silly group input thread things. So
here it is, dedicated to 2D and 3D art. maybe we can keep this
one alive for a little while =)

The graphics part is pretty cool, reminds me of ICO for some reason,
and those bricks remind me of the movie Labyrinth for some reason.

Ice cream? That possibly makes more sense. I thought it was Calpol or
some sort of Calpol-esque sugary-medicine  Nicely drawn anyway, the
strong pink makes it 1000x better than it would be if left in grayscale.

You just had to tell me about the 'report' button. I thought it

be gone in a sort period. But seriously, it was an accident. So
no spamming me, <span style="font-family: courier new; font-style: italic;">PLEASE!

I haven't posted pics here in a good year or so, so I guess now's the time. This is a series of illustrations i did for my Stepfather. He wrote a short story about Christmas in Louisiana and got it printed in a local paper in Baton Rouge. I haven't seen the paper, but the pics were included...so technically, I'm a published illustrator

I don't draw nearly as much nowdays, and I'm quite ashamed of it.... I keep telling myself I will start drawing every day. maybe I will. A couple of years ago I got into the habit of drawing daily, and saw a vast improvement very quickly.

Thanks! One of the last big lessons I learned when, was how to manage colors better. You should only use black and white in the most extreme cases. I try to paint with a hard-edge brush using different values of colors to create the Light/Midtone/shadow version of that color, WITHOUT applying black to darken the color. Almost all new painters use white and black to adjust the value of a color, and this leads to very muddy colors. There is a science to it, and some very good tips (especailly with digital) to maintaining vibrant colors.

Doc - I have a 9x12 Wacom and it is PLENTY large enough. I don't know what you have right now, but I honestly wouldn't go any larger than 6x8. A 6x8 Intuos 3 will suit almost anyone just fine. Anything bigger is almost a waste of money.

I also have a tablet pc, that I'm trying to grow into. It's a little strange doing color work with an LCD screen, since the viewing angle changes the color, but I'm adjusting. It's really nice to sit in a chair in front of the TV, or lay in bed doing digital work.

Almost no one uses black paint here (unless we are doing a grey
scale). You can always add compliment colors together to make
grey and black. It can be hard to get it right sometimes but the
resulting grey has a hint of color that adds so much more to a painting
than black and white.

I find that in PS painting, layering color works really well.

lighting the pipe. It looks like her right hand should be rotated

Makes sence, I made this from a photo but added the zippo lighter so
that hand is posed to hold a smaller Bic lighter, not the thin fat
zippo.

As for my Deviantart store... I make (I think) 50% of the profit over
the base price. So if the base price is $10 and I sell it for $20
I make $5. But I paid a one time $25 sign up fee, so I dont think
I'll be making any money off of this for quite some time.

DrGlass: It did it with Blender. I
just love its particle system. For those who understand a bit what I'm
talking about here's how I did the lava:

1. I created a plane mesh and subdivided it a couple of times.

2. I made it a particle emitter with slight randomness.

3. I parented a metaball to the particle emitter and gave it that lava-material.

Three steps simple lava.

I love Blender. It's UI feels like s**te at first, but once you get to know it you're gonna love it.

Lavalamp? It's supposed to be
a vulcano erupting(I bet I misspelled that one). Anyways it was
something I did while learning some of the gadgets, a feature test of
sorts. Nice that you liked it. Perhaps I'll make some real animations
at some point.

Here's
something I did while experimenting with the fluid dynamics. Again it
helps to have the XviD codec.
That animation almost killed my

I would have posted this image here: http://www.snarkpit.net/forums.php?forum=4&topic=4807&start=40

But its been more than 4 months and I'm not allowed to post in that thread.

So, I'll do it here instead. I was browsing the interlopers forum
and I noticed that quite a few of the members put "userbars" in their
sigs. DarkKiller was the first one to show me them, months ago,
but I didn't realize how popular they were. I think they're
pretty silly in general, but I decided to try to find a swimming
userbar. I couldn't find one, but I did find a website where you
can make your own userbars, ( http://userbarmaker.com ) so after some
experimentation... I came up with this:

I had the picture of the Swedish Goggles on my computer, and I ended up
googling a tutorial and learning how to make transparent images with
photoshop (what can I say, I'm inexperienced when it comes to image
editing). Then I used the handy website and viola, this is what I
ended up with. I have to say, it looks pretty good and I didn't
have to bother someone with photoshop skills to come up with it.

rudder and elevator. the poor quality picture seems to hide the elevetor quite well, though. and probably some other, less desirable, facets, too.

No we don't. Anything under 10.000 lei (100,500,1000) is made out of metal.

We're all,

Wowa fishman, thats a nice plane there, though i dont recall any of the 109 versions have such a streamlined shape, especialy the k-4 was succesfull because of the engine. Oh well, just being nit picky as a plane freak here  '

Excellent sketch there morph, reminds me of esscher.

lol, I did one of those in my drafting class on accident

Unforunately, my drafting instructor wasn't so fond of it.

you better count this as art. ^_^

this is pretty much my final for my 3d modeling class this quarter. was going to be final but.. well, the lights, the chair... and zazi.. dangit zazi. don't let him critique your stuff. he'll give you good suggestions you can't ignor.. anyway

it was originally made for an interview (got a 3ds job after three days actively using it. awesomeness!), but they had to change things and i no longer work for them. but i decided that i must continue modeling, so I took the sucky version i gave my boss and prettied it up for fun, then decided to make it my final. tadah. this is the first scene i've made with 3ds. (aside from my lame assignments and small personal things.. like a bottle, monitor, coffee table.. )

one of those suggestions zazi made was to put fish in the tank, the logo on the tank, and put a small garden under the dome, which i'm working on now. organic modeling and I don't get along real well, but we havn't given eachother much of a chance, so we'll see how that turns out.
