The poll is which do you prefer, dogs or cats, pretty standard question.

Then theres just generic what pets have you guys got?

My cat just had kittens recently and I've comendeered it, and temporarily named it El Presidente, or Ep.

I voted lizards. I am madly allergic to cats and many dogs and that kind of puts me off.

I had a snake for about 4 years, and it was totally kick ass.

<span style="color: white;">@ DM: Your sounding homosexual is unforgivable

I prefer cats, they're all fuzzy wuzzy and stuff.

I have two cats from the same litter, who look completely different. One is patchy light brown with stripes, the other is black and white, like a cow. They're about 4 or 5 years old. The brown one makes squirrel calls (seriously, she looks up at them in the trees and makes noises that actually sound a lot like a squirrel) The other one hunts stuff, I once saw him jump off our fence and catch a bird in mid-air.

Naturally all gay people sound like that and it's a crime on society that they do

Anyway, cats for the win. Theyre just cool and lazy - the life I want.

You should have cats, dogs, birds, fish, reptiles and er farmyard  My
ultimate goal would be to own a pig (several pigs actually, they get
depressed by themselves) and maybe some ducks. Farms rock.

until my daughter fell in love with a maltese puppie...i was very put off by this 400 dollar dog, but i must admit, hes grow on me....i call him my "circus dog"...damn smart little s**t....and i love it that he does tricks for me, and pretty much only me, unless you have one of his dog biscuits.

i need to disconnect his barking mechanism as well...

Pets I've had:

1)Cats-They aren't exactly pets, they just live with you and you feed them.

2)Dogs-Loyal, happy, smart, but have a tendency to run off, get rabies, come back, and bite you

3)Turtles-Awesome conversation pieces, but don't do tricks and don't really recognize you

4)Sparrows-Cute little things come and nest in your house... Make a bit
of a mess but still a lot of fun to watch/feed. Tend to attract
eagles/snakes though.

I currently own a 5 y.o. black persian

cat called Mao (heartless parody after everyone's favorite chairman).

I also had a pair of lizards for a while, Tim and Jim which I kept in an old fishtank (waterless, of course).

Could you add a "dogs and cats equally" option? I don't really
prefer one over the other. I like big dogs, but I also like
playing with cats. If you get a cat to like you it feels like
more of an accomplishment than getting a dog to like you. Cats
just seem smarter in a way...

But big dogs are great because they're so active, friendly, and you can go out and run them around the park.

Cats, require less looking after and are far more independant. I used
to have one my parents found back in london dumped in a garbage bin.

We called him dusty, even when he got to his ripe old age before he
died he would still rip the fur off passing cats in our garden, scary
bugger lol.

Only birds here. Two cockatiels and a port lincoln parrot.

Port Lincoln parrots look like this:

Ours is the cutest little thing, until he sees your fingers, then he tries to bite them off. If you poke fingers into his aviary, he will remove them.

Our cockatiels arent too bright... theyre scared of anything that moves or makes a noise. One is in love with his reflection, the other is in love with anything white and fluffy (particularly the tea towel, or dishcloth if youre from the states).

I dont like cats or dogs really.

My advice then. Keep him caged next time you bathe as he might find your white fluffy appealing.

/runs

We presently have 2 of them, one is scared of everything. the other is scared of nothing. He will bite your finger off. Both were rescued from abusive owners.
My favorite c**katiel died a few years ago. Very loving and affectionate he was. Sadly, the dumb thing choked on a seed and died. I never imagined a bird could do that till then.

i'm partial to lizards after owning several sand
lizards(http://psychro.bioinformatics.unsw.edu.au/neil/albums/album02/TECH0081.jpg),
which are
cool because they move as fast in sand as on the top of the ground

and one iguana, which i'm sad to say i neglected and had to give away

i also own 3 dogs ( a rat terrior, a silky terrior, and a beagle with
oddly long legs though he is pure bred)and a cat just walked up to our
house so we kept it

my dad is a vet so they aren't as much as a hassle to us as most people

I like dogs AND cats. I've got one of each. Although I picked Dogs, coz you can get a real arsehole of a cat sometimes. Those ones who only want you to feed them and they shed all over and scratch your furniture. Dogs are easier to control IMO.

the hat reads as follows: You're Stupid

yes that is towlie

The story behind the picture:

if you haven't heard already our technology
departmetn contains another staff member that we really don't like who
we refer to as the "craptreater", we were driving around our school
campus in Nickel's car on the way to fix a problem one day and i found
the hat in the vehicle. i put it on and he told me i couldn't wear it
because it was derogatory, so after much protesting from me and nickel,
i took off the hat but we took that pic after and were going to make a
shirt with that design to wear around him

the end

and yes MS ferrets are cool but no matter what you do they will always smell like piss
