New screenies here:

http://www.tothegame.com/screenshot.asp?id=4257

A short description from that page:

"Unreal Tournament 2007 will have approximately 40 unique levels
covering a diverse set of environments, along with 45 fully playable
characters. The game will also include seven major game types in total,
18 vehicles and 14 handheld weapons."

It looks like they're making it intoo an EA Sports kind of franchise...
maybe UT2008 features 45 leves and EIGHT major gameplay types or
something. Let's hope they're good.

Some unreliable updates here:

"45 playable characters" means 45 different player models, most of which are reskins on the same mesh, if 2004 is anything to go by.

As long as deathmatch, CTF and assault are kept, the game will probably be alright. Onslaught is fun as well. Bombing run sucks, but knowing EA, theyll keep it, and make it a larger part of the game.

The graphics look nice, but I don't buy into the whole MORE MORE MORE
mantra they seem to have at EA. I'd rather see an original game
come out than another sequel to a series.

I thought I read somewhere that last year (or two years ago) of all the games EA released only 1 was not a sequel.

The level looks so dark to me. How are the players going to see each other in a firefight?

It starting to get tired of this UT crap, TBH. This is just silly! When will this never-ending line of
UTs finally die?!

It's like James Bond film series. It'll go on and on, outlasting the existence of cockroaches on Earth.

Oh, I can see it now! It would kick arse! It would have a garden-roach
as the witty young and sexually-appealing superhero spy, and his
arch-enemy would be the roachfather and his band of moneylaundring
roachsters.

I think a giant hissing cockroach would be great for the roachfather  .
You WISH this movie existed  ! And since it has hissing cockroaches, the movie would obviously be a musical.

It looks good, but I hate how all the models look like ceramics.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

That page somehow doesn't load for me...

Anyway, I've seen some older shots and while it looks good, I'm no fan
of the whole UT style. The original UT singleplayer is probably the
best of the pack I've played so far, since I dislike the whole
kill-kill-kill gameplay and the uber-shiny uber-armored look of the
characters. I'm not going to get a game I don't like playing, whether
it looks cool or not.

Wow, nice new shots. As ever, it's looking damn hot, and personally I'm
happy to continue entertaining new UT releases. I don't thnk any of
them have been "unnecessary" or could be described as cashing in
really, given...

UT - The original game, no complaints here I assume.

UT2003 - Modernised update, new engine, and bringing the game to acceptable standards for today's market

UT2004 - Perhaps the most questionable release, but vehicles was a
significant new feature and loads of new maps to play on. Plus a
significant rebate for owners of UT2003...

UT2007 - Introduction of the rather stunning new engine

Given the amount of free post-release content that Epic and Digital
Extremes release for the UT games, it's not as if they are ripping
people off or anything. Even this month, ages after UT2004 was
released, there is a new bonus pack coming out. Very few companies
support their games this far past release.
