Ok, after much sweat blood and tears shed, I managed to make a recording of myself using my MP3 player.

It's a short introduction, like Orpheus' initial recording, read with
the same passion as a suicidal weatherman when telling people how
soggy it will be in Blackpoole. The recording is extremely low quality, and it distorts my voice.

[EDIT] Andy, I had to use my ViPlay program to listen to your recording. Not hard for me, but confusing as hell.

It was clear enough, but the strong accent made it very enjoyable.

I would suggest a more conventional recording or some people might not be able to listen to you.

Quality sounded fine to me. As I said, MP3 seems to make better/smaller file sizes. I would opt for MP3 at 22050 guys. It sounds perfect for this experiment.

@ Doc.

Yours sounded, like you. Good stuff. How many takes did you do before you chose this one?

I suggest that you not suck on the Mic next time. The air blasting was funny.

[EDIT] Also, think about keeping it "LAME" MP3's.. They seem the most compatable.

Here's me. This is very stunted and well spoken.. if you recorded me in
the pub chatting with people from the village/city i'd speak in a
Derbyshire accent (close to how a yorkshire accent sounds). I might
re-record later with me telling a joke or something...

One of my very best online friends hails from The Nether regions. His name is Bart Schuurman, but his online handle was "Zeddicus"

His spoken english was no where near as fluent as Caps, and Bart had been to the USA a few times.
We used to speak in real time using ICQ, and it was a blast. Sometimes I miss using it.

Andrei, Romanian accents have always been among my favorites.

Captain P, Your english is good. Only one thing to help your accent, words like "actually" and "continually" are really pronounced like "akchuly" and "continuly" other than that, you got it good.

I'm not FROM germany, really, but my family is and we used German at family reunions sometimes. Oma Marie died a few years ago and I never really got to learn much beforehand, but I have been teaching myself with a little help from Crapceeper, so I figured I'd include my German in the thread. I know it's not 100% korrekt, but bear with me... I taught myself after all.

What I find the most amazing of all about this little exercise is the amount of non-English speaking members we have here who in so joining Snarkpit have to contend with our printed language.

I mean, some of you have such strong accents that its any wonder at all that you can even sound out the words, let along make sense from them. I can honestly say that I for one am in awe, and my respect for you mounts daily.

I would like to express my deepest sorrow for any past arguments we might have had, especially in light of the fact that it might have been nothing more than our lack of using words in the same way. If however we fought and you knew exactly what you were doing when you did it, get bent. :heee:

I, I am sorry to say, can only type in American English. I notice that all of you speak in British/UK English and it must be boorishly obtuse to constantly deal with American speaking styles. Anyway, I thank each and every one of you who took the time to contribute to this adventure.
