Okay I came across this on the WoW forums, and if you've ever played an online RPG then you know what this guy is talking about:

http://bannable-offenses.blogspot.com/

Synopsis: This guy is a Game Mater for the online RPG game FFXI. He
hates people and in his blogs tells of stories about stupid GM tickets
and stupid people. You have to read it for a good laugh.

There's only one thing that's pissing me off more than an overly stupid and ignorant player: An overly arrogant and frustrated GM.

I mean those guys get paid for answering questions about a game. A game. What do they expect? Thoughtful discussions? The warm feeling of making the world a better place? Hell no, their job is to answer questions from people who are obviously to stupid to play a game. Not make fun of players who aren't nerdy enough (yet) to figure out an "AH" system. I mean how pathetic is that? Sry for spoiling the fun but this blog reminds me why I never got into MMORPGs.

FFXI's GM I heard can get away with anything. Thats why FFXI's customer
service is so crappy because they let their GMs get away with anything.
While I think this guy should re-evaluate his choice in jobs (and his
life for that matter), I envy him at the same time (being able to be a
jerk wad to anyone he wants for any reason -- and be paid for it!)

Hahaha I love GMs.

I dont think he over reacted to much cos some games do say in there terms and agreements aboit sending stupid tickets to GMs like the "Wheres the map button" one and can result in suspension and to read the manual. I think WoW does if i remember corectly.

Although WoW did have a hug a GM day a few months back.

No succesful blogger is allowed to have poor spelling and grammer, as this GM does, bah!

Do you think Maddox got to where he is today with bad grammer?!

Although, lines like:

There may be dragon related violence if you do.

do help his cause.

I dunno about disgruntled employees but I have been updating my steam and after 6 megs and 30 minutes I am not even past the damned "Platform update" yet.

cries

Sadly, Steam doesn't even use all of my 56k bandwidth. As minuscule as it is, it could at least use all of it.

cries more

I am disgruntled... Major!

Sadly even more. After over 100 megs of update, my CS update is hovering at..... drum roll 78 god damned percent.

The guy is funny but at the same time he's abusive of his power. He doens't really have all the right to complain about hts job either. He's geting paid to sit on his ass, drink, and play a game. He could be digging a ditch in the hot sun. Maybe he should try a job as a stand up comedian?

Hehe, as an ex-FFXI player I found it pretty humourous  The sheer terror of getting mauled by a monster, and then finding that your home point has been set right next to the thing must be indescribable

Actually, I couldn't find another thread to grumble in so I opted to borrow this one.

I like butter cookies best.

I heard that FFXI was a console game. Actually I hear all the FF games were console games so, I wouldn't know much about them other than they are RPGs and very popular ones at that.

FFXI looks like any generic MMORPG out there (unlike WoW's uniquness).
And there are thousands upon thousands of bots running around
("botters" as they are called) and square (or the company that makes
it) doesnt bother to do anything to fix this problem by changing the
scripting code (like Blizzard's done so many times to stop the famous
fishing bot/gatherer bots). FFXI's service isnt its downfall -- its all
the bots running around that is.

I know WoW is popular and I haven't played it enough to be sure but I trust my sons judgment on this and he has played both but Guildwars he says beats WoW all to hell.

Now, he also says that its like comparing Hammer to UnrealEd. Both do the same thing, but in totally different ways.

He says since he played GuildWars first, he is vastly more familiar with it and thinks WoW is so basackwards to it that he just cannot enjoy it.

Plus he mentions that there is just to f**king much running from here to there in WoW.

Searching out your body in ghost form or somesuch royally pissed him off.

Anyway, he says GuildWars is better and I believe him.

When I said uniquness I meant the style in which the games are. Just
look at pictures above without looking at the links. Tell me which one
stands out in terms of their own style? In my opinion the first two
look remarkibly the same (like morrowind and any other FP RPG) while
the third looks different than the other two.

But I do understand what your son is saying, a lot of the quests are
FedEx
quests, and that tends to get boring really fast.

I played WOW, and to be honest, it does alot of the same crap the others do. DAOC had most of the stuff WOW has before WOW was even conciderd. I feel like im in a Warner Brothers Cartoon, and I keep waiting for some roadrunner to run by and a coyote to go spat near by when im in game. Wow also get real boring fast..

But yes they do look similure.. but FFXI were one of the first to use awesome graphics to display its world in fantastic detail.
