Well, I'd heard 24 was an amazing show, so when I saw 5 seasons on sale here for 50 USD I jumped at the chance, and last night I watched the first 2 episodes with my Chinese roommate. We both really liked it, and will probably watch 2 more tonight.
I'm gonna try my best to not let it take over my life.

Sooo... 118 episodes to go.

24 is the best show on TV atm imo!

We (my g/f and I) saw the start of season 4 at a friends house, and were hooked! At the end of s4 we rented s1, then watched s5 on TV, and have bought seasons 2 & 3 (just started watching s2 now s5 has finished).

Watching them out-of-order isn't really that bad (yes, I know your not, but I want to make a point) there's only a few things that you know, like who wont die, because there in later seasons, but it's still exciting, and we enjoy it nether-the-less.

On a slightly different note, went to see Garfield 2 at the cinema, and that was good. My son (4) loved it, but then it was his first cinema trip, he's watched the first film a bzillion times!!

First off, Garfield sucks balls. The movies and the cartoon.

And my bad on that 24 stuff... but the show is mad addictive... I never got bored of 'em.

24 never grabed me I watched a few epesodes of series 1 and 3 I think but iI could have easily switched channel if there was anything worth watching on the others.

I watched Brotherhood (TAE GUK GI) resently. Its about two brothers that get drafted into the South Korean army when the Noth invades and how the older brother is trying to win a medal so he can send his younger brother home to look after the family. It has some excelent fight scenes in it that you can tell have been inspired by Saving Private Ryan aas they are shot in the same way with the dirt and blood hitting the camra.

I also watched Infernal Affairs the other night after i fell asleep trying to watch it on Film 4. Its about a Triad member that gos into the police as a mole and a undercover policeman that infiltrates the Triads, and how they findo out about eachother and try to find eachother before there boss/superior do.

Martin Scorsese has been working on a remake of it called The Departed and it has Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio as the cop and now Irish Mafia member.

I just watched 4 episodes of 24 in a row.

I kept watching because I'm like... something has to happen, soon...

They focus on 4 different story threads so in the course of 1 episode not a lot has progressed in each one. It's kinda frustrating because it makes you need to watch 4 episodes to have 1 branch of the story really progress enough to feel like something actually happened.

Still, I'm hooked.

Man, I just watched Fight Club. Wierdest movie ever. I just finished it and I'm still not quite sure how it all makes sense, but it really is trippy.

I'm sure a lot of people have seen it, but if you haven't, you gotta watch it. It'll blow your mind.

Yeah it has a great ending, strong acting, and I think its fun to watch with a lot of cool scenes.

I watched a different type of movie yesturday...

It's called Etre et avoir, and it's a documentary about a small scholl in rural France over the academic year.

It really shows how different they have it, there's a few children in
each grade and just one teacher for them all. Whilst slyly giving a one
finger salute to the PC brigade at the end.

I must admit, it did kinda bring back some childhood memories.

I almost forgot, I watched about ... 4/5ths of "Get Shorty" yesterday, and then the DVD froze up and I had to abandon it. I really enjoyed it, and hope I have a chance to finish it.

One of these Horror/Splatter/B-movies... without much splatter at all. I found it funny how I could predict some of the "surprises" without ever seeing the movie before

The Siege
I found it a bit disturbing to see the real world exceed even the wildest Hollywood nightmares 3 years later. It makes the movie look so naive.

Is that the one with the 'Pink champagne'? I think it was released under a different title over here.

On the topic of horrors, I watched a couple of Peter Jacksons earlier films, Braindead and Bad Taste.

Bad Taste was a strange one, at first I was unsure, are these zombies?
are they aliens disguised as people? are they pod people!?

The acting isn't superb, but the comedy, and strange accents made up for this.

Braindead has to have the most amount of blood i've ever seen! Gallons
and gallons of stuff go everywhere in the climatic lawnmower scene, the
acting is better than he previous attempt (probably due to a bigger
budget). Though if you are a parent of a small child, be aware for the
'ickle one in here.

I think Crono once told me that Peter Jackson was called the Prince of Splatter, or something along those lines.

My mates and I watched Bad Taste and then Braindead before Peter Jackson went onto the Lord of the Rings movies, which made the news he was going to very surprising indeed. One of my mates insists that you can see influences from his early work on the LOTR trilogy, but I think he's just talking bulls**t :biggrin:

Haha, yes the Peter Jackson stories are always fun. I never saw the old Horror movies but people told me about them in detail and it's funny how trashy those must be (compared to the glamorous LotR movies).

Never been a Jackson fan myself. I must be among the three people on earth who don't get excited about the LotR movies at all. I fell asleep during the second one (no s**t, I actually did).

Hello there.

After reading the graphic novel, the movie skips a lot of important stuff. The movie = bad compared to the book, which = good.

Saw the Sentinel on the weekend. A pretty good movie, nothing new, but a really well done thriller with a decent mix of 24 meets the Fugitive. I definately recommend it, and its certainly worth seeing at the cinema.

I watched "The Matador" with a friend, because his friend recommended it.

It wasn't that good. Some moments were good, but overall not enjoyable.

The best scene by far is the Bill Murray-esque walk through the lobby to the pool.

I absolutely loved the Matador. I like how Pierce didn't take himself seriously at all in it.

It was enjoyable in the strict sense that it was really quirky and strange.

But other than that, the narrative wasn't as clever as I think it tried to be at times.

I mean, I didn't mind hearing Mr. Brosnan walk around spitting out clever phrases like "you look worse than a thai hooker on a sunday morning after the navy left town," but in the end it wasn't enough to make the movie watchable for me.

If one good thing came out of watching The Matador it was that I discovered "Heat of the Moment" by Asia. That's going on a party mix, for sure.

I just finished Season 1 of 24. The ending... unbelievable. Makes watching 24 of those 40 minute episodes worthwhile, and then some.

I'm restraining myself from popping in Season 2.

Graaaaah go out and watch this TV show if you enjoy good entertainment... and especially if you don't have anything to do for the next week or so :smile:

Out of pure desperation, on the flight back home I watched "Failure to Launch," "Something New," and "Take the Lead."

Something new was pretty watchable. I didn't get to catch the beginning or the end, but the parts I saw I liked.

Failure to Launch was pretty s**tty, as expected.

Take the Lead was a cookie cutter movie. At least it had the kid who played Rufio in Hook.

Recently watched: Spongebob Squarepants. That show never fails to make me laugh.

Random trivia that has nothing to do with anything said in this thread recently: Lawrence Fishburne played Cowboy Curtis on PeeWee's Playhouse.

I just watched Zero Day (IMDb link). It's kind of a documentary about these two kids planning a Columbine-like school massacre, but nearly all of the movie is footage from a camcorder they use to record all their plans/progress so it's like a case study in a very general way.

It was actually excellent, especially considering it being a rather unknown/low budget/indie film. It was extremely realistic; the kids were very convincing. It got really strong and scary towards the end as things ramped up, eventually into the result of all their efforts. It's really frightening to see how human and "normal" these kids can be - you feel for these characters - and moreso to understand that it's like this in real life: you can never really know anybody...

"Little Miss Sunshine" was pretty decent. Lots of good timing, with the awkward silences and whatnot.

"Step Up" is okay if all you want to see are these choreographed hip-hop dance scenes. In between the dancing though, you're going to face a typical moralizing "Hollywood inner city" story.

Saw Miami Vice the other night and thought it was a really good movie.
The story gets a little bogged down in the middle, but besides that the
action, acting and story were all good. Definately one to see at the
movies to get the full audio experience for one of the opening
sequences, deafening and awesome :smile: .

Snakes on a Plane just goes to show that internet buzz (as well as not taking yourself too seriously) can really make a movie.

Just finished season 2 of 24. A few days ago I told my little sister to catch up with me so we could watch together... and now she's on season 4... it's that addicting.

It's a decent movie, by no means great, but still entertaining.

Interesting idea, absolutely BAD movie.

The Boondock Saints has been added to my list of favorite movies of all time. Troy Duffy should write and direct more movies, this movie is evidence of his talent, but it's the only movie he's made. That movie was thoroughly enjoyable.

SPOILER{I loved the scene where they fell from the vent in the ceiling and killed eight people while hanging upside down, and the items they mocked eachother for purchasing (namely the rope and the "Rambo" knife) ended up saving their skin. Right now that's my favorite scene from any action movie I've ever seen}SPOILER
