He had to do certain things for the entertainment value, for sure. But the notion that he doesn't have any respect for nature is a load of crap. You will never have the same kind of respect for the power of those creatures that he had. You don't spend your life the way he did and not earn respect.

There's no question that ultimately he did good to the animals and nature movement. I respect that about him. But I don't believe it was respect he showed towards animals. Maybe admiration, esteem. But not respect. You cannot respect a crocodile while getting ridiculously close to it and doing all kinds of stunts if you are potential prey.

I recently found my mother's 37 year old guitar. Apparently when she was in middle school she was playing hippy Peter Paul and Mary songs.

Anyway, I just got it restrung, and with the help of a Mel Bay book I'm teaching myself how to play.

It's strictly limited to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and The Saint's Go Marching In at this point, but still it's fun.

For some reason, I can't help but hear Ringo's voice yelling "I've got blisters on my fingers!" in my head.

What kind is it? My grandma had a guitar from the 50's that was beautiful, it was like a classical guitar, but she lost it, likely when she was moving

It's a Regent model number 500. Basically, its just a starter guitar from ages ago, nothing special. But it still sounds alright.

Fortress forever released a new ingame vid of dustbowl. Looks like it's an ecellent TF game but I found it weird how much the video reminded me of TF2's style. Not because of he characters but the wole theme change. Hmmm.

At the risk of being partially tactless, I think a Snarkpit tribute to Irwin is in order.

Hokay, this is a fun one. I need to find a program, for free, that will convert .divx files to .avi or .mpg, or anything.

Ideas?

I'm pretty sure .divx is just a fancy container for AVI compressed with the DivX codec.

Whatever it is, I'm trying to put the first 3 seasons of Bulls**t! onto my iPod but my converter to .mp4 doesn't recognize .divx files.

Those guides don't really help me in that way...

EDIT:--Never mind!--

EDIT2: So it seems that one can simply rename a .divx file to .avi and it performs the same... problem solved...

I'd be real careful when renaming things. Back them up first or else you may truly end up with something for your garden.

This isn't so much recently found, but I just moved into my suite. I'm living with 4 good friends (we all have our own rooms) and we have a fully equipped kitchen, a living room (came with couches, loveseats, dining table, coffee table, and lamps), and a huge extra room which we're not quite sure what we'll do with.

At the risk of sounding Joe College, we're going to get some wood and build our own beer pong/beruit table. Preliminary brainstorming has come up with this design to be painted on the table by myself (the resident semi-artistic one):

I'll probably have to cheat with a grid to blow it up the large enough, and I'm not a painter but we'll figure it out.

Anyway, classes start tomorrow, and despite that necessary evil I'm really excited about being here at school.

Did it ever disturb anyone else that they only have three fingers? Great cartoon though.

What school are you going to? Not to be a downer but I expect this project will die the death of too much homework, depending on your major.

English major at a small New England college.

You're right to expect that this project wont get finished, as I don't think I'll have much time during the weekdays, but if I can force myself to put the time in on consecutive weekends, I think I can get it done. As long as I finish it before swim season starts and ALL my time is gone.

If I do finish it, I'll take photos and post them up.

Small update. The ninja turtles idea has been panned. Apparently the initial enthusiasm from my suitemates has faded.

We're trying to come up with another design now, although we still need to put primer on the table so there's no rush yet.

I think Psychonauts is from the developers of Grim Fandango (thus must be good). Valve is filling Steam with some auality titles.

I went to the store and while I was there I wanted a bottle of water. To my dismay, water flavored water is virtually extinct! The only bottle of water I could find that was ... water, was some fancy-pants water from Fiji.

On another note: Fiji water tastes weird. Possibly because it's full of parasites, such as the Vatulele-dick-slug. It's a well documented parasite.

Does your browser pass the Acid2 test?

It should display a nice smiley made of tables and color settings. Most browsers just diplay an abstract picture of forms and colors. My firefox tries but ultimately fails. IE just shows a big, red something.

Opera passes, I think. Safari... Not many, actually.

If you ever tried to make a more complex website out of tables and borders you know what this test is all about. It would make things so much better if you had a standardized way of how browsers render HTML code.

iTunes 7 just got released. Apparently this version allows for the purchasing of movies via iTunes music store... which doesn't interest me as I don't have an iPod video and I don't have an intense desire to buy any movies at the moment.

So, the coolest thing about the new version of iTunes is nothing more than a gimmick... but I love it. Basically, the album artwork gets shown and cycled through like a mix between the mac-style "dock" and the jukeboxes of yore.

Here's a shot (56k way unfriendly):
User posted image

What does this mean? This means I'm going to waste hours now making sure my album information is correct (the auto-artwork updater works fine as long as your album information is present and accurate).

But I love music, so this is just a really cool feature.

It's a shame you can't use an iPod for both Windows and Mac. It doesn't work and even sais so the Apple page!

I'm glad I found this little proggie: XPlay
It allows editing songs and data on Mac-formated iPods in windows.
