Excellent,excellent flick. Sadly no mention of Mr. Rickenbacker but, this predates our American joining the conflict.

Mmm, I've seen Pan's Labyrinth three times now. It's definitely topping out my list of favorite movies already.

Say does anyone watch Smallville?

I only watched a few of the early seasons.

Watched Blood Diamond on the weekend, thought it was excellent. An action drama with enough of a conscience to elevate it beyond a simple action adventure.

Also saw Deja Vu a couple of weeks ago (can't remember if I already posted this), another good movie, more of a straight action thriller, but no where near as bad as the reviews have been making out.

Omg, just finished, believe it or not, THE LAST NARUTO FILLER!!! So after ~80 weeks (I think) of fillers, a real episode will finally come out next week. Really looking forward to it. I really hope it manages to catch the good old Naruto feel that made the first 100 eps so awesome, as some of the fillers have been painfully bad.

I know some here follow (perhaps not anymore?) the series. What are your thoughts? Please mark all spoilers in black.

SPOILER:

If you've seen the preview in episode 220 you know Naruto headed out for training and that he'll be back in ep 221 two years later. Going to be really interesting to see everyone two years older, with new clothes, skills and all. Hopefully this will help to blow new life into the series. :biggrin:

Spent all day at the walk-in theater.

I asked the wife today "What'cha want for Valentines day?"

She said she'd like to see a movie.

We watched:

"Hannibal Rising" An absolutely stupendous prequel to the Hannibal Lecter saga.

Then we watched:

"Eragon" They slaughtered the book. It was a good movie but please watch it before reading the book.

Lastly we watched:

"Rocky Balboa" A fantastic final installment to the series. IMO, the best of the lot because he finally and truly was an underdog.

Today, was a full fun day.

Ugh... valentine's day... I'm obligated to be thoughtful...

anyone who is interested in CG animation + music might find this interesting.

Animusic has been around for awhile, but no one's really heard of it. CG Instruments playing in time to music, little robots that play themselves, gigantic & complicated drum machines. good stuff. I had to buy both DVDs.

Saw Hot Fuzz with the lady last night, and as expected it was a great laugh. Not sure if I liked it as much as Shaun of the Dead personally, but still well worth seeing. My girlfriend certainly didn't have high expectations but it raised a few laughs, so even non-Pegg fans will find things to like here.

I just watched Fight Club again, and it continues to be one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth, and I must say that watching this film was very satisfying. I highly recommend it to the rest of you, but be warned, it contains some of the most graphic and horrific images I've ever seen. It goes without saying that this movie contains many references to the horror of the Spanish War, and its brutality.

Speaking of horror, I just finished Romero's "of the Dead" triology. It's cool to see the classics. Reminded me of how pointless all the numerous rip-offs are.

Just watched the Last King of Scotland. It was remarkably disturbing, but in a good way. I suggest you see it, it's a very powerful movie.

Watched Smokin' Aces on the weekend. It can be summed up in one word: arse. After sitting through 45 minutes of mind numbing dialogue and incoherent plot, the action finally started. Now I knew going in it wasn't going to be a masterpiece, but figured from the reviews that the action sequences would be enough to make it worth while. Wrong. It was perhaps some of the lamest, poorly scripted action I've ever seen. Then after the 20 minute of combined "action", it was back to the suicide inciting plot and acting, which wrapped up the confusing story in a neat little bundle.

Rating out of 10: -Infinity

Million Dollar Baby.

I haven't seen this one in theaters but they played it on TV the other day. Wasn't at all what I expected but a good drama... Well, all the bitterness was a bit too much for my taste.

The Departed.

Very good, but a tad long. Then again, Scorsese isn't exactly known for 90 minutes films. Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin... Usually don't see a cast like that in one movie.
One of my favorites this year. Check it out.

I saw The Departed the other day and I didn't think it was all that great it was ok but not as good as I had heard it was supposed to be. But I think it has something to do with having seen Infernal Affairs first as I never like remakes as much as the originals they just never seem as good to me.

If I hadn't seen Infernal Affairs first I think I would have really quite liked it.

I was amazed today by "The Prestige".
Partners turned rivals, Hugh Jackman & Christian Bale do their best to one-up each other in quite a twisted story involving secrets and mis-direction.
I liked it a lot. A little long, but worth it.

300, Zodiac and Pan's Labyrinth. Already this year is looking good for movies.

But seriously, everyone here watch 300. It's just gore on a grand scale. There are a few sick shots that are about 30 seconds of one take in the middle of the fight, and it really is amazing to see something that long.

And Zodiac is a great psychological suspense film. But mostly, go see it 'cause Jake Gylenhall is hot.

I really liked 300, though some of the "fantastic" elements went a little overboard,
not exactly following the graphic novel. It was still a very stylized & surreal action movie that was worth the price of admission. I only wish I could have seen the Imax version.

Finally got to see "Dr Strangelove". Old films are old, unfortunately, I can't deny that... but the whole concept behind the movie is absolutely amazing. Also I didn't know how many classic scenes and ideas are originally from this movie.
