Some nice sequences in HP but it has the "middle of a trilogy" feeling. Maybe its because I havent read/seen the fourth book/movie though.

I think, as far as the movies go, it's the only movie in the series so far to directly reference previous movies. The events in the fourth installment are rather pivotal.

I don't know why but HP5 didn't seem coherent to me. It was very fast paced with the movie jumping from one scene to the other almost erratically.

I'm also curious if Dumbledore says Bulgaria is to the NORTH (of England?) in the book as well, thought that was funny.

Oh and they gave the bulgarians NKVD uniforms.

I watched "Brick" last night, and it's one hell of a movie. It's a film noir style detective story, but thrown into a modern day high school setting. I highly recommend it to everybody.

Saw Sunshine, a decent sci-fi movie for once, a far cry from the usual
Hollywood "fantasy" sci-fi movies these days (I.E> Armageddon).

Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer. The only redeeming quality was
Jessica Alba to me, the rest was mostly silly crap. Pretty though.

Spider-man 3... too much going on, the "venom" plot could have been left out
entirely.

Astronaut Farmer was not horrible, a little too family friendly for my taste, though.

Transformers was horrible, but still fun to watch, if that makes sense.
Michael Bay, I swear... Too much attention to action over actual plot.

Actually, no it wasnt, just over half full, but I saw it at 10:30am mainly die-hard fans (me included! ), and a mother with young kids.

But I heard from other people that went to the night sessions, and it was packed then.

I'm afraid to go to a Midnight showing here. The people around here take the Simpson's personally since both the creator (Matt Groening) and, technically, the town are from/based on Oregon. There's so many jokes in both The Simpson's and Futurama that are like Oregon inside jokes.

Again, I don't want to be trampled or maimed ... and my friend who is also a life-long Simpson's fan can't go until Saturday (it comes out here tomorrow, but I'm sure Midnight showings will happen tonight)

Saw these two movies tonight:

Disturbia (2007) - Typical teenage thriller, a good one I might add, so if you're into this type of movies I highly recommend it. I'm not that a big fan of "typical teenage movies" though, so it only get 3 snarks out of 5.

Amelie From Montmartre (2001) - Special, great movie. 4/5.

I just got back from The Simpson's Movie and I don't think I could be more satisfied with what was displayed. I mean, there's a lot of moments that are very reminiscent of the mid-series episodes and I liked that a lot.
I think it's actually rather unique that a series with an 18 year past can produce a film that actually lives up to what has made it beloved in the first place.

It wasn't until the movie was over that I thought it actually is getting to a good place to end the show and produce films from then on (and TV specials are okay too). I wish the show still had the quality of plot that the film has. Let's hope while writing the movie it rubbed off on the current show writers and it'll shine in Season 19.

I had the same problem with A Scanner Darkly as with Waking Life. The whole rotoscoped illustration effect doesn't add anything to the movie. It just irritates when there's any kind of perspective involved and cars and people are just floating through badly painted backgrounds.

Loved the multi-personality suits, though.

I was thoroughly entertained but i never laughed. but now that you made me think about it, i can't remember the last time i saw a "good" movie. I bumping it to 4/5 stars.

I saw The Bourne Ultimatum Saturday. It kept true to the first two. Sweet movie. The only problem was that i went with these tards who sat way to close to the screen. Their was a lot of camera movement and i had had a hard time fallowing the movement. 4.5/5 stars

I've watched these recently:

All In (2006) - Bad poker and annyoing baby faced characters mixed into something not so good. Most people probably should stay away! 2/5.

Save the Last Dance (2001) - This one was a surprise actually. Very good, NOT your typical stupid teenage drama/romance. It really had a soul. 4/5.

Shooter (2007) - Great action flick. 4/5.

Blood Diamond (2006) - Blood Diamond was awesome, really something. I think this is a must see for everyone. 4.5/5.

American History X (1998) - Watched it a second time, still one of my absolute favorits. Everyone should see this one as well. 5/5.

Reign Over Me (2007) - I had high hopes after reading about it on IMDB, but I was disappointed. Adam Sandlers character annoyed me quite a bit, and I didn't feel a thing for any of the characters. I thought it was kind of boring. Maybe I'm just heartless I dunno. 3/5.

EDIT:

Just watched Zodiac (2007), was decent but not great. I thought it got better closed to the end. 3/5.

After finishing my noodles I'm gonna watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) with Jim Carrey.

EDIT 2:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was great. Was really nice to see Jim Carrey in such a "serious" role, I've mostly seen him performing in comedies before. 4/5.

EDIT 3:

Save the Last Dance 2 (2006) - Everything that made the first movie good, including all but the main character, and all actors, are gone. So yes, the main actress has been replaced, and her character is quite different from the one in the original. Did contain some cool dance moves though. All in all a disappointment. 2/5.

Fight Club (1999) - Was my first time watching this, and I had high hopes for it. It more or less lived up to my expectations, and I have the feeling I'll have to watch it more than once to notice all the details. I liked the criticism of consumerism, and I think some of those points are very valid, especially for me as I think about earning and spending money almost no matter what I do. Maybe we're just working our asses of to buy s**t we don't need? I was at an IKEA warehouse the day after seeing Fight Club, and it was quite interesting to see how people were shopping like there was no tomorrow. 4/5.

Fracture (2007) - Decent movie with Anthony Hopkins, but nothing special. 3/5.

Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) - Another decent movie, but it felt a bit predictable. Nothing special. Could be that I'd seen it before. 3.5/5.

And yesterday I watched the The Lord of the Rings trilogy in one streak, all movies were extended editions. I think the playtime was arond 11.5 hours in total, and I can say I was quite tired when watching the last one. All three movies are great, and they all deserve five snarks out of five.

Fight Club (1999) - Watched it again. 4/5.

28 Days Later (2002) - This really is a great movie. Easily one of my favorit zombie movie. 4/5.

28 Weeks Later (2007) - The sequal to 28 Days Later. I had hopes for this one, even though people said it sucked... unfortunately it did suck. It did have cool action and nice special effects, if that's what you're after, but that hardly makes a movie. The movie contained so many annoying and unlikely situations (which I don't thing the first movie did btw). If this hadn't been a sequal to such a great movie I might have liked it more. I have no idea how this can be rated 7.4/10 on IMDB. It gets 2/5 from me.

Apocalypto (2006) - Great movie. 4/5.

Casino Royale (2006) - Quite nice movie, nothing special about it, but nothing bad either. 3.5/5.
What the Snarkpitters listen to!

If this hadn't been a sequal to such a great movie I might have liked it more.
Maybe not. I watched them in reverse order, and still came to the same conclusions as you.

"Based on actual events" The acting was not spectacular but not terrible either. A lot of the movie is fairly drawn out on the not-too-exciting investigation, but the alien abduction and experimentation sequence is so very delicious that I can't not like this movie. (the guy's actual account of the abduction was far tamer, I don't blame the writer for spicing it up.) 6.5/10

300 (Finally for the first time)
I wish I had seen it in theaters. 8/10

I saw 3:10 to Yuma this evening and it was incredibly awesome.

If you even remotely like Westerns, you need to check this movie out, especially because ... it's a western and those don't tend to stay in theaters long.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

"Black Book"

A WW2 drama from Paul Verhoven. Yup, the guy who made robocop. It's pretty different from all the other greyed-out, over-dramatized war movies, which makes it even a bit more disturbing and real. I liked it a lot.

"Superbad"

Hysterical! It's about three 17-year olds preparing for the party of their life (which mainly consists of acquiring alcohol). I had so many of my best and worst flashbacks watching this movie. While laughing non-stop. No matter how weird, embarrassing or gross the movie gets, the characters stay likable and real and oh-so funny.

It's weird what you have to go through to get some booze in America, with all the IDs and stuff? We always went just straight into the supermarket.
