I have been thinking about remapping Dust some. I know why mess with what many think is the perfect map.. well because I think its old and needs a change.

So here is an image of what I think it could look like.

Please give me some suggestions and feed back. Would love to see or hear your thoughts and ideas.

1. There's already an updated and better de_dust, its called de_dust2.

2. Those long hallways are going to be boring and annoying, plus they scream 'camp here with AWP to drag out every game', which is one of the big things that drove the original CS designers to focus on de_ maps instead of camp- and snipe-fest cs_ maps.

3. 'Remapping' is bulls**t. Come up with your own ideas.

de_dust2 sucks.. I think that map is awful. And it is a awp fest as well.. so please get a job, make some money and buy a clue.

remapping is not bullpoop.. regardless what you say.

If Yak Fighter's never ending rage has one honorable purpose in this world then it's keeping mappers away from remaking de_dust for the millionth time.

Seriously, think of all the new you could build.
Why snark works.

If you love the gameplay of dust, but want to make it better, that's ... your thing, okay, but at least come up with your own theme. At the very least the map wouldn't be yet another dust remake.

I don't think you'll get much support in the way of remaking other people's maps, not to mention this particular map, at the snarkpit. (I know you know that).

You also insulted the only person that gave you feedback so far ... who didn't insult you ... ?

Anyway, this really does belong in the maps forum, even if you haven't started building the map yet. There are chapters where you can seperate portions of your development (planning and layout could be one of them) and get feed back on specific parts ... it would also mean that your ... efforts, would be contained to a single thread.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Judging from your potential revision of de_dust it would seem you love awp fests, since long hallways with little cover is certainly sniper-friendly. According to you dust2 is an awp fest, so you should love de_dust2 then. How's that for following clues? I'm not too sure why you'd love dust but hate dust2, since the sequel takes the design and gameplay that made dust so good and adds to it. Then again I always loved cobble which everyone seemed to hate...
remapping is not bullpoop.. regardless what you say.
It is bulls**t whether I thought it or not. In other disciplines its called plagarism, being powerfully uncreative, or being a hack.

Oh and Reaper, no, I won't sleep with you on the first date.

I agree with everyone els that you should come up with your own theme. And i also noticed you have some vary long hall ways.

I believe Spielberg did Jones. I think he is referring to star wars. (hon?)
Reality has become a commodity.

Yes. I like the prequels, but his, oh so subtle, dialog is horrible.

George Lucas didn't pen the actual screenplays for the Indy movies. Those were crafted with a few people sitting around a table talking about the whole movie, then handing their notes and ideas off to a writer. In short, he's responsible for story and plot elements, but not dialog, his well known and documented kryptonite. Four have now been written. Hopefully the new one can replace Temple of Doom in the series ... bleh. To bad the new one is written by Spielberg's goto man of Hollywood, David Koepp. The man best known for cheesy ass dialog.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Wow, this sure became tarty.

On a side note, I don't like how you split the T's up so drastically. And DaveJ largely credit's Dust's success to how both sides hit the tunnel at the exact same time... this layout seems to favor T ownership of the tunnel and have the gameplay revolve around the T's trying to exit the tunnel.

Also, that horizontal line of sight on the bottom worries me, looks like you can shoot from the CT's back hall all the way to the T's back hall?

Reaper I'm not going to waste my time explaining to you what happened in this thread. However, I am tired of this stupid crap so I will give you this opportunity to either:

A. PM me so you can get whatever it is off your chest so you and I can stop wasting everyone else's time in the forums.

B. Get over whatever it is, shut the f**k up, and stop acting like a whiny thin-skinned bitch whenever I post.

Can't we all just get along?

I've always disliked bombsite B on de_dust, so here's my suggestion:
<a href="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y80/Naklajat/dedustmuhnay_suggestion-1.png" target="_blank">User posted image</A>

It'd give CT more of a reason to spread out and give T's in tunnel more options. Some reworking of the upper right corner might be in order for this to work though.

Dunno. A single decent T sniper could camp at the end of that long corridor while using the (planted) bomb as bait. N'ah, B is fine as it is.

I'm gonna give up on this one.. as there is one very similar to this map already.

Its called de_dust2_unlimited and is lots of fun to run and gun on.
