well, lets see.....there have been so many....
i used to frame houses and lite commercial buildings when i first got out of the service, going to college at night, jan 1985, i was working on a commercial framing crew, building a 24 units apartment complex....three stories high, about 40 feet off the ground.....when you build wall sections, you build them laying on the ground, and then stand them up, and in order to nail the studs in place, yer kinda nailing from a sideways angle....well, im jammin' along popping these studs in place, i overstretched a bit, pop, shot a nail, and the recoil got away from me....it bounced back onto the top of my hand, and a quick rapid fire of three 16 penny nails went right thru the top of my hand, and pinned me to the board (im simplifying this, it was not that easy to explain)...i didnt let out a peep (framers are tough guys, dont wanna be a pussy) i calmly took out my wire dykes, clipped the heads off these three nails, and slid my hand off the bodies of the nails...needless to say, it hurt like a SOB...and swelled instantly to about twice the size it was supposed to be.....but thats not the dumb part, as s**t happens like that all the time....
im on the third floor mind you, and as i lifted my hand off the nails, i stepped backwards about two steps, and walked backwards right off the f**kin side of the building....i had half a chance to try and catch myself, and as im grabbing at the deck i was just on, the damn siding pulled right off in my hands, opened up the wall like a candy box, and down i went....hit the frozen ground like a ton of bricks, the damn siding smacked me in the chest, and i layed there flopping and twitching like a fish. f**ked me up pretty good....broke two vertebrae in my low back, broke my left wrist, which i had just shot with the nail gun, my right knee, my left ankle, and a mild concussion....three surgeries on my back, two on my left wrist, one on my knee, one on my ankle....spent 6 weeks in the hospital, and a year of physical therapy so i could walk right again.....
and remember kids, safety first... :heee:
now dont you guys feel good about knives and electricity?...
Doc "i hate building, tis why im a drafter" Brasso.... :dodgy:
