Hey Muhnay, don't be so hard on him. I'd laugh if I had a son and he did this to me. ;(

Since I think the last thing this site needs is another "Recently ..." thread, I'll toss this up in here.

I picked up the revived Electronic Gaming Monthly and GameFan today. The articles are just as thoughtful as they were in their hay-day, and GameFan is just as glorious to look at.

I strongly suggest you track them down. EGM is being widely distributed in the US ... GameFan is not, I had to go to a Barnes and Noble to find it, and it was the last one (slightly damaged also).

But if you remember reading these mags in the 90s and loving them, you should definitely track their revivals down (by founding members, no less) and check them out.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Nice, so just to clarify, people who have downloaded the game prior to 24/05 will still be able to play it after 24/05?

Modern Warfare 2 runs perfect on my Ubuntu install.

Half-Life 1 runs so well, I can Super+Tab between windows and it still renders the game in the 3D preview ... and it's being emulated.

And this was on my 3 year old laptop.

Recently found "IRONY"

You guys know how I am about people driving and phones? Well three weeks ago some asswipe rear ended me at over 50 mph. He was texting and never saw me. The insurance company totalled my truck. The only brake marks on the road were mine as he pushed me. We ended up 120 feet from the point of impact. Sadly, the only pics I have are in my phone and I dunno how I'd get them posted here.

Lucky for us we (the wife and I) only got bumps/bruises and one fractured arm.

I broke my own rule by not looking in my rear view mirror before applying my brakes and it costed me.

Lucky for us we were in my truck. Had it been the car the cost might have been much higher.

The best things in life, aren't things.

A couple years ago (or so) my Samsung plasma TV was having some issues with color separation. Samsung came out and deemed to needed a new panel, they replaced it. The TV, at purchase, supported 480i/p, 720i/p, and 1080i. I would set things to 720p, in general, since progressive scan is a larger pro than more resolution. Well, I was looking around the PS3 settings today and ... the TV not only displays 1080p, but also 1080p 24hz mode!

I guess when they swapped out the panel, they gave it a pretty new one!

Whuh?! I'm guessing not PC games, heh.

They're not carrying mindless games though, are they? I'd imagine it would only be like educational games, or ones with some sort of additional value over just entertainment? Or, is your community just really pressing hard to have free games available to all?

Either way, that's still really cool.

No it's like, normal games. I held Final Fantasy XIII, Mortal Kombat vs DC, and Batman Arkham Asylum.

I think people generally confuse a library with a school library ... The basis of the Library isn't to educate, it's to catalog. So, if there's something people want (that isn't like porn or something) then they'll probably get it (considering that those same people are the ones paying for the junk with taxes). They've had a massive DVD catalog (including junk like Marvel cartoons) and even BluRay for awhile. (they've also got a pretty good catalog of magazines, comics, and CDs)

Sadly, though, they classify video games as "Youth" related ... so they refuse to carry anything over a T rating :(

Kind of annoying, considering what else they carry in all other mediums. It's like their thought process was: "Kids like video games. Therefore we won't get anything above a 13 Year old Rating" ... if they used the same logic for their movies, there wouldn't be anything rated above PG-13 ... and I'm pretty sure that would piss people off.

And yeah, there was only like 2 PC games. For current PC games it makes a lot of sense, considering (legally) you can't even install the thing more than once or twice sometimes.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Mazemaster just 'xplained... They die because they will follow the pheromone trail only. The trail loops in on itself, so they never make it to the nest to feed. Therefore because they are blind in this way, they will die.

Hah interesting, I wonder weather this is more of an instinct or a voluntary thing and it just never occurs to the ants they're going in circles.

Ant's like most insects, have class roles. Unlike in humanity, these are not imposed by culture, but rather genetics. They follow pheromones, simple as that, there is no higher brain function "choice".
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
