If anyone could suggest a good *cough*free*cough* screen capturing program I could take a video of it. Because of the nature of creepy horror maps screenshots wouldn't transfer the atmosphere correctly.

Also, did I mention it's in GoldSrc (namely Sven Co-op)?

Free doesn't mean illegal.
Here's some freeware and open source screen capture programs:

http://www.screencast.be/free_software.html
http://camstudio.org/
http://getgreenshot.org/
http://www.bhelpuri.net/Snippy/
http://linuxandfriends.com/2010/01/15/zscreen-an-open-source-screen-capture-tool-for-windows/

Bitches only be thinking 'bout commercial softwares.

Yeah, well, I've had a lot of frustration over finding freeware and Google seems to think it's funny when it omits crucial parts of your search terms(such as the word 'free' being swapped with 'virus included').

Thanks for the links, I'll fiddle around with CamStudio for a bit.

EDIT: Bah, CamStudio has choppy frame-rates even when set on maximum quality.

You mean ... minimum quality ... ? (Maximum quality would decrease performance, not increase it)

Well give the others a shot?

And you have to know what you're looking for, for example you can't just say Free Capture software, you'll get results like torrents of Premire. You want to look for freeware and oss. Using those actual words.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Unless they have updated it some, fraps clashes with some games. It doesn't like Stalker much.

I meant maximum, as stated below your post CamStudio is not meant for video-game screen capture(which I should have researched). I didn't really mean for you to Google it for me, I wanted to know if anyone here had used a screen capturing program before, for what I was talking about doing, and might recommend one.

This is what I have heard as well. My friend told me about one that seemed to capture good(he was showing off some of his videos), but I forgot it's name and haven't been able to get a hold of him to ask him again.

Oh well, and so the hunt continues.

I'm mostly running Linux, it's print screen software that's built in can capture anything out of the frame buffer without issue.

Unless ... you want to capture video itself ... again, on Linux, you can run some software that catches all the OGL calls into a script, then when you're done, it'll render it offline. So no slow down for recording or anything. It's pretty nice.

Again, I have no idea if there's anything like that on Windows ... or if they'd even work.
Bah, CamStudio has choppy frame-rates even when set on maximum quality.
I said "minimum?" because ... this sounds like you're setting it to maximum quality settings and expecting it to perform better.

Drat, that's yet another reason to switch to (or dual boot) Linux. I'm pretty sure I've seen a program for Windows that does this, but like all Windows software, if it does what you want you're gonna have to pay (big) for it.
Crono said:

No, sorry, I meant that even on maximum quality the program wouldn't capture frames quickly enough(even though I wasn't pounding the processor in the least).

Actually, I've been messing with a combination of dual booting, wine compatibility layering, and windows virtualization in Linux. Turns out ... lots of stuff actually runs pretty well under Wine. If it doesn't you can try a virtual environment (like Virtual Box with a legit Win OS installed on it. It's INSIDE Linux) That has been getting better with making hardware acceleration possible.

It's really getting to the point where, you could just outright not be running Windows the majority of the time. I mean, Ubuntu, for example, does system level junk far more friendly than Windows and it tends to run faster. (Like proper management of system memory and swap space)

imgur plug-in for firefox. Uploads and stores images. Seems pretty neat. Especially if you haven't got a reliable host. I uploaded the front page pic and it worked fine.

There's ways around it. You can copy the partition, for instance. And just because you install Ubuntu doesn't mean it wipes windows out. (However, if you ever need to recover Windows you might need to physically remove Ubuntu's partition from visibility so it doesn't touch it)

Heavy rain*

Hard Rain is a campaign from L4D2. Anyways, I can tell that for me it was the most intense game I've ever played. While and after playing the game, I just kept and kept thinking about it. It's very emotional too, and the soundtracks are great.

I recently found out that the annual 1 meter dash is no longer going to be held in my home town. People were told that the reason for this discontinuation was due to riots held every year due to discrepancies in the ruling of who actually won the event. With the advent of bigger and faster cameras, the winning photo finish was becoming more the authority than the actual judges. With the advent of photoshop, several of the previous winners had to forfeit their trophies.

2 years in a row my home town had charges filed against them citing "questionable results"

A week? Not really. I have seen things a month in advance if its worthy. When I lived in Florida there was a hard rock station that claimed it was being bought out by a country owner and it was a bit more than a month in planning. There were petitions and almost riots because of it. On the 1st they played almost am hours of sappy tear in your beer country and then made a scratched record sound and screamed APRIL FOOLS!!!!

It was extremely believable.

For those whom live in Florida it was WKGR. You might know it.

Son of a bitch!

For $300 you can get the Crysis 2 Maximum Graphics Edition, which is a killer deal. It comes with the OCd EVGA GTX560 Ti and Crysis 2, Crysis 2 poster, and a Crysis 2 T-Shirt.

The card is normally $260 ... which means the game and all it's extra crap is technically $40 ... the game MSRP is $60! (The game itself is also full retail edition)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130628&cm_re=crysis_2-_-14-130-628-_-Product

FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I'd suggest this deal to anyone who is looking for a video card and want's Crysis 2.

I've had Crysis 2 for a couple of days now. I'm only about an hour into it technically. It's breath taking in it's graphical splendor, but so far the single player campain doesn't hold a candle to the original. I've reserved my final judgement for further down the road.

P.S., I bought the plain old deluxe edition for 60.00 and got some special MP perks is all.

Something out of a hard plastic maybe? I would love to see something in the scale of the new TRON figures... that way they could have Figures for the Characters as well... all with talking abilities. I think that would be cool.

Yeah. and, I'd want the panels to pop out and stuff too.

To be honest, I think Valve should capitalize on Portal's set of characters. I wouldn't even be against it becoming a all-ages show. The playsets would be nuts. Have like, detachable and configurable test chambers.

It's one of the few instances I can think of where franchising wouldn't be a bad idea. Just controlled franchising.

Last thing we'd want is for Portal license to be as washed out and oversaturated as Star Wars. As much as I love the Wars, it's just ridiculous.

With that being said, I definitely want to see some hardcore statues of Portal characters. Who wouldn't want a talking Glados figure with mechanical articulation? Nobody that's who!

I was thinking more like G.I. Joe's mixed with K'Nex or something.
