Skins get corrupted if you load more than 1 map at once. Happens all the time; produces some cool results once in a while.

Sometimes they end up being really cool looking. No need to fix this one yet .

I think you can fix that if you reload the 3d window, and those textures are all the textures in the level that you have used, so I guess its an advantage

A recent problem I've had is that Hammer crashes on my new computer 100% of the time - as in I have to shut down - because apparently it tries to access my refresh rate. Can I fix this?

Hmm, turn off OpenGL usage. If that still doesn't work see if lowering your refresh rate (while using hammer of course) helps.
Maybe use 3.4 instead of 3.5. and If you are, I'm not quite sure what to tell you if none of this works.

All VHE/WC versions screw it up. How do I turn off OpenGL usage?

You can't, the renderer was switched from D3D to OGL starting with 3.3, since it was faster or whatever. I suppose you could use older versions of WC, but it'll be pretty weak/primitive compared to what we have now.
You could start learning Quark or Radiant though, I suppose. That's an option too.

Right, sorry, I meant Texture Filtering. Dunno why I said OpenGL, probably because I was thinking about how Hammer only uses GL for the 3D views.
Try turning off Texture Filtering is what I meant. You might also want to try turning down your clipping plane distance too.
If it continues try checking to see if you've got something funky floating around in your computer, like a virus.

Cassius - I'm betting you are using ReForce or similar to force high refresh rates in full screen games? If you are, try setting the desktop refresh rate to default and see if the problem still occurs. Also, you could try using the other refresh rate forcer (there are two, swap). If you aren't using one of these programs and have an nVidia card, try using one. It seems extremely unlikely that a virus or spyware would break your refresh rate to me.

Cassius ive something very similar to this problem since loading Worldcraft 2.2 onto my comp...after about a day of anguish i found that mine was a graphics acceleration problem. solved it by turning graphics acceleration down too its lowest setting and restart...it helped me.
Hope it helps you

Ownage.
[EDIT] s**t, Orph, that was your first post you made on the Snarkpit boards, wasn't it? '21 Tips from Orpheus.' I remember it on the very shortlived, very slow orange and grey PHL Snarkpit Forums. [/EDIT]
