Duncan, is your option to add a new map there in the control panel? It's just blank under maps in mine.

Why does it say "please update map details" by one of my maps?
The 'basic' theme needs to be marked with a *, because it doesn't work
Add those smilies!

hears flogging sound anew
we are still getting map screens uploaded above 100k.. is there not some realistic way to prevent this? one that does NOT rely on these peoples ability to comprehend compassion?
personally, i am considering starting a humiliation thread, one dedicated to people so hard headed that they fail to realize 100k images are the extreme upper limit..
yeah, /me considers it strongly.. maybe a bit of finger pointing will straighten them up

PHP does have functions to adjust the quality of images, but that doesn't help when the image isn't hosted on the snarkpit. It is also possible to copy an image from a remote location, then get it's file size.
Perhaps when you post with images, it could copy these images from the reomte location to the server, and if any of them are too big, a window pops up with a <100K jpeg version of the image for the user to upload to their webspace? This is definately feasable, but it sounds like more effort than it's worth...

IMO, if the images do not fall within the perscribed criteria, you cannot use them.. period.
why should people care if a 600k image is hosted someplace else? its still 600k
IMO, if you cannot post screens well below 100k, you obviously don't care, and neither should we..
snarkpit should be able to decide whats acceptable, and veto the rest..
100k is the extreme upper limit.. 50k is preferred..
why extend consideration to people who are obviously not worthy..??
the point here is, we hare having to discuss something easilly solved, and past due in solving.. if it cannot be done with code (looks at lep for confirmation of this) the links should be removed.. with a warning to the author..

Sorry, meant to use some sarcasm tags there really, didn't mean it in a bad way (hence smiley). Making the website automatically convert images is much easier than getting people to do it themselves and having warning message etc., and I certainly wouldn't appreciate you doing a naming and shaming campaign anyway

It probably just defined the file as there, sort of said "create these files", but then never got around to actually copying the contents from Lep's computer to the newly created forklift.zip. So the file exists, and the extension shows it is a zip file, but the file is actually empty.

The zip wants empty for me, it had xen_forklift.mdl in it. If you want i could put it on my webspace to download. All you have to do is ask if you want something hosted. [as long as it isnt to big  ]<!-- ZoneLabs Popup Blocking Insertion -->

Er, you can actually make an empty zip file anyway, in XP you just click new ? ZIP file, or just delete all the contents of one...

Unless you, say, cut the contents of a ZIP file out and paste them somewhere, or just happen to notice there's an option to create a new ZIP file along with texts, WADs and other formats when you right click..?!

Just had a thought, instead of simply having page numbers in forums wouldn't it be better if mods/topic starter could 'name' them, i.e. have chapters to a thread too? Be quite useful for longer conversations and map threads (start a new chapter with a new build or with new screens, or have multiple chapters to this thread such as one for bugs and one for suggestions, etc.)

Wow yeah that sounds great! I think letting the poster specifiy new chapters in the mapping thread would be good, but in the general thread, not so good, because the poster could annoy poeple by 'having the last word' in a given chapter, then starting a new one. I know it sounds petty, but in addition to this, half the fun of the general forum is that threads go way off topic - 'chaterising' them would seem to take away from this slightly
I think threads in the editing forum would need to be chaptered by the mods, so when some newbie has asked two questions in the same thread, a mod can come along and make the second question the start of a new chapter within that thread, which could make that question come up seperately when somebody searches the 'answers database' (The same as if the person had started a new thread for their second issue).

Well, chapters could just be left open anyway and not locked, so it wouldn't work like that. I guess it would be just 'threading' a topic but keeping replies linear... gets to work

Just noticed the new control panel feature for the maps. Really cool. 'cept when the download counter reaches 3 digits, its placed under the download icon instead of on the side. Just a little point.

Did you change the snarkmark formula? I've dropped a few hundred, which isn't an issue, just something I noticed...though it has made me a mere "rabid snark"

I did change it slightly, yes, but turns out that it hadn't been adding on any marks for people's comments before so it wasn't just a negative alteration

In England it's a slang term for a vagina.
In this context it means much the same thing as prick though, but less severe.

I would class them as equal in severity personally...but both are normally used on people in jest from my experience.

ok, let me clarify, cause all of you missed my point..
1) prick can mean dick/penis... but i used it as prick=annoyance/thorn which is another valid definition.
2) lep got mad cause of term prick.
3) twat can mean vagina, but in this case i am unsure as to leps terminology, so i put ours, which is puss or sissy.
4) should dave get as mad at lep, as lep got at me? and should we retract leps admin privileges for such?
hence.... my inquiry..

Well I just said that twat was less severe than prick so that nullifies point number 4.
Duncan, if you were pissed of at someone you'd be likely to call them a prick but not a twat, at least in my experience.

Hmm, I don't know if I would, I'd be more likely to resort to far more inflammatory words  But out of those, perhaps prick is slightly more insulting...but its a really close call.
Orph - Lep said it with a smiley, and it was obvious it was meant as a joke, so no
