I'm looking for a decent FPS to play online, preferably something with teamplay. I used to play TFC but I'm bored of it and I want to move onto soemthing new and exciting!

I've tried BF1942, and though I enjoyed it I couldn't really see myself spending the time to get good at it. The players don't really have a solid feel to them, I can't really explain it.

I might reinstall Americas Army as I read they've got some new european servers up, but that's a last resort.

Any recommendations?

I can't actually play any games on steam because of a problem with my account even though I have three legitimate cd keys.

edit: Err but thanks anyway bud.

Bah, here I was looking at the thread title and about to proselytize the recent webby recipients and people's choice of the independant gaming festival Puzzle Pirates but it seems you just want to shoot stuff.

I'm not going to confine myself completely to FPS's. Is this pirate game any good or are you biased because of your pirate fixation evident from your picture.

Probably should note that I'm looking at the site but I'm not too sure what to make of it.

dave, remember when i told you i had 3 legit keys as well??

well when i reformatted this last time, i had to reinstall steam, and steam refused the exact key i used last time.. stating it was already in use..

i was forced to use my last reserve key (yes people i bought and paid for all 3 keys)

i think steam has an error, no one but a person who has reformatted has yet had to face

Orph. steam doesn't have an error, at least not in this area ... you create a steam account once, thats it you never do it again (thus your 'this key is already in use' error). The next time you install it just log in with the old account. The reasoning is that the key isn't kept on your computer, it's in a server.
This also means you can goto another computer with steam and easily play the games you've purchased (which also means you can get someone you know who actually bought condition zero to log in on your comptuer, download it and then you can move the GCF file to your steam area  ).

But, A_S, there's a lot of good games out there. Have you given some of the Clancy games a run through? Those are the most team based games I can think of (if you don't work together, you're usually screwed, expecially in GR and RS).

Battlefield is good, but a lot of the weapons don't act properly, so that's why you play the desert combat mod

I haven't played any recent Clancy games. I just looked in an open drawer beside my desk and noticed that I have rogue spear. I think that's a bit too old for me to be interested in it. I had a thing against Rogue spear for ages after buying a clancy add on that only had about 5 missions. On top of that I purchased some other game by them expecting it to be of a similar standard and it was woeful. I turned it off after about ten minutes and never touched it again.

What do you mean about the weapons not working properly in bf1942?

My original steam account, back when they had to be an e-mail address magically disappeared. It still claims that I have to use my original account.

A few of the BF1942 guns are inrealistically inaccurate (sniper rifle). I'm usually an engineer (which is why I refuse to play Secret Weapons, since the engineer's gun is different  ). But in desert combat, the guns are very accurate and it just plays much faster.

Don't know what's up with your steam account ... did you change your email or something? I suppose I could try to help out for a few minutes if you had some IM or something, A_S.

By clancy game I mean the good ones, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six 3 (very good actually). And Pandora Tomorrow has a nice multiplayer feature

Rogue Spear sucks ass. (as did the first Rainbow Six).

Is desert combat pretty popular? A decent amount of servers are crucial due to my crappy location. It seems like the best option out of the lot and involves the least effort.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'll be able to get my steam account working unless I contact valve and their infamous customer support team.

I'll check out those good clancy games when I have a chance.

Its the most popular bf1942 mod. But, it's big (we're talking the same size as battlefield in some cases). I guess it has a lot of customized stuff from other users available online. At first look it will seem like the maps are the same and just the models have been changed, but they have a few good maps.

Go for DoD or TS ... quite fun, actually.

The Jedi Knight Series are also quite fun to play online, especially Jedi Academy. (singleplayer's worth it too...)

I personally think that the single player of Jedi Acadamy is better then Jedi Outcast, however, Jedi Outcast has better mutliplayer then Jedi Acadamy ... Also, Force, have you not read one major dillema A_S is having? It pretty much kills all chance of a HL game.

However, he could install it off a CD, put on the 1.1.1.0 patch, then install dod 1.0, ts 2.0, and something else and find a WON server.
I have a feeling A_S is too lazy

I still play both 1.0 and 1.1 DoD. There are enough servers around for both. I use HLSW for WON games and Steam for 1.1 obviously. www.hlsw.net

Natural Selection forces you to work well as a team. If you don't, you die. Very quickly.
