I'm gettin' the bitch Tuesday after I take that infernal exam. And it'll sit there unopened until late December
I suppose I could come back and tell you the exact moment I buy it based on my receipt ...

America doesn't have it either, $loth.
It's all being done via synchronised release/unlocking/activation on
Steam. Even if you buy the CD (some outlets have been selling it) in
the US or UK, you won't be able to play it til Tuesday.
For us, thats 8am Tuesday morning.

I was shocked too. But if you pre-order something from EBgames you can't get it at the Ebgames right next door, because they compete with pre-order numbers ... like bastards.
Not to mention they skimp on most things, like with Doom3, if you pre-ordered it you were suppose to get a putered Pinky Demon (which looked awesome). However, where I pre-ordered it from only got 15 ... they had 175 pre-orders.
What happen is if you didn't pre-order the game you couldn't buy it (which, I'm sure, is what will happen with HL2). The managers at the EBX were pissed too, since they didn't get one either. (Apparently GameStop and Best Buy offered statues as well, but not Pinky Demons, they each had a unique statue or something)

POSSIBLE HL2 END SPOILER!!!!
If you are sure you want to see this spoiler then drag around below and highlight the hidden words to see it.
-friend said that he read at somethingawful.com that someone had played HL2 and beat it. He said that the G-man ends up being you! Gordon in the future! That explains why the G-man says at the end of Op4 "I must admit I have a certen fastenation with those who adapt and survive agensed all odds, they rather remind me of my self"

I expect i'll go into town on tuesday sometime, but I'm thinking it will be sold out. I want to get it from a specific shop because I have some old gift vouchers I need to use up. Need to go in town anyway for brake fluid so not much of a disaster if they dont have copies left.

If you go there tomorrow you may still be able to preorder it, if they
accept preorders that is. If they don't, then your chances go up as
they should have plenty of copies that nobody has laid claim to yet, so
get there early and you should be in luck

Yup dont believe everything the internet tells you. I just got my HL2 gold stuff yesterday, and ill tell you the Strategy Guide is thick, meaning we will have long hours of playing HL2. I read the first page, and I kicked myself, cause I found out a plot thing right away, DO NOT READ THE GUIDE IF YOU CAN HELP IT!!!!!! I know I dont  . Ill probably be playing it mon. night/ tue morning as Ive ordred it off of steam, So I guess ill be playing it at 12:01AM tues.
Ohh and as for the rummors that people are playing the game aready is BS. Even if people have the game installed, Steam needs to "turn it on" so not one person(with the exception of the designers) is playing it before 12:00 mon night.
But on a lighter note I saw an alien craft in the sky last night, and Big foot was sighted on saturday, and just now there is a peace conference in the Middle East.

From what I've read...
Valve is located in Washington State and is releasing the key at midnight on Monday. So if your on the east coast (EST) and preordered thru steam (like me) you will be able to play it at 3:00 AM Monday night...err Tuesday morning...
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Heh, yesterday I actually heard an advertisement on the radio, telling me HL2 was only two days away from it's release...
Nice to hear those things on the radio... sounds like good music in the ears to me...

Bought the gold package.
Originally pre-payed for the Collector's but there was no guarantee of the Back Catalogue and DoD:S, and since it cost almost the same and gold had more goodies I found someone with a credit card who would front for me. I'm happier giving more of my money to Valve than to Vivendi.

I don't know whether it'll have arrived or not  Lep ordered it at the weekend I think but whether its been posted yet...or had an attempted delivery and been taken to the Post Office, I don't know.
Worst day at work ever though...it's like trying to get to sleep on Christmas Eve when I was little (no trouble these days though!).

I just paid for mine there over steam. Updating my gfx card drivers.
I'm really hoping everything goes smoothly, but I never have any luck
with these things.

It hasn't actually installed yet. I'm only installing Cs source for
some multiplayer fun for the moment and that's nearly a gig. Won't be
able to play until tomorrow, and that's providing the steam servers
aren't full... which they almost certainly are. I won't cry about it
though, as I hadn't intended on getting it for a while.
edit: The steam undating is slow enough, but the progress bar takes leaps up. It isn't unbearable.
