Well, if you download it I wouldn't imagine you need a CD. Otherwise, it's a dumb question!

well what i heard is that HL2 will be released in 4-5 different forms
1) being a DLed SP (single-player) version off of steam (which i would assume means no disc) but hey... what do i know
2) DLed SP/MP version
3) retail version (in-stores) i would assume this includes a disc
4) a later released retail/DLed special edition version (which i think includes content not included in other versions) WOW ya think?
this doesnt seem like a stupid question to me...just seems like the stupid people cant answer the question...MUAHAHA

eh, the only reason the original HL required the CD was to have the copy protection crap going. Course, it was quickly realized that that stuff was screwing up the multiplayer so they dumped it. I see no reason why Valve would go back to that, especially considering they are even trying to circumvent Sierra and Vivendi through steam.

Sinner, your post is only half true. There will be 3 retail versions, refered to as "SKU". One will be pure SP, another SP/MP, and the last one will be the Special Features editor.

Floppies.. Naw You have it all wrong, they want to celebrate the birth of Computers, and balance the superb graphics and game play by putting the game on PUNCH CARDS, yes this means you'll have to buy the 2000 dollar punch card reader to play HL2, but hey they feel its worth it. Dont you?

it really puts into perspective how much computers have evolved in a relatively short time, and the volume of data and the speeds it now gets handled at.

PUNCH CARD PORN.. Why do I see a new internet site popping up in the next few weeks.. Would make for a great Site name. ( That post made me shoot pepsi outta my nose. )
Whew, Tracer, as long as U have room for that then I am no longer worried..
DVD's are old technology.. Who remembers Star trek and the little Colored Boxes about the size of a cracker they used.. Well they are here and very real.. They are rumored to hold 10 DvD's worth of data.. there are also the Slim Sticks, like used in your camera, or on your keychain for data swapping. No scratching, more durable, and easier to carry. Ahh technology is grand!

Maybe the US will catch up.. Korea and the Asia terratories are kicking are butts.. they make broad band look like a 300 baud modem.
