I have the feeling your main disagreement with this is that you feel single-parent families leads to, well, "increased homosexuality" (which I think we know you're deeply against) perhaps- if that is the case, again I'd totally disagree with you again and say that, if anything, it would just make you a more lonely and/or loving person
Okay, so maybe I was wrong about that. But I'm not apologising and not changing my words as I haven't done anything wrong or accused you of anything, and I'm perfectly entitled to voice my opinion like you.
fair enuff, as long as you acknowledge its not my reasons.

where most snarkpitters seem to go wrong is their inability to see opposing viewpoints, it doesn't matter if you are right or not, you really need to realize that another perspective exists, some people in this world are not nearly as forgiving as i am... i may indeed be the worst example of humanity that your short lives has had to deal with, but you must understand that i am not the worse that there are, and sooner or later you WILL run into them.. if you continue to run your mouths so readily, you will also come to regret that practice..

that my friends is another sad part of life, get used to it.

also you MUST realize that we all suffer from ageisms, i do acknowledge that many of you exceed my schooling by several octaves, but that by no means you "know" more than i do about any given subject, in fact i would be willing to bet, that in a few subjects, i have no peer's here at snarkpit, course the subjects may be obscure, as in either mundane jobs or my 5 years as a demolition specialist in the military.

bottomline, in almost all my posts in this thread, stupid or not, i did at least give you all partial credit because you are indeed correct, as far as it goes, but in each case you all felt it prudent to point out i had to be wrong.. and that is an inflexibility i have a problem dealing with.

there will never be an issue with only one side, and the sooner you realize yours are no different, the sooner you will all stop being smart ass children. if thats upsetting to some, go find you a 12 year old smartass and try to convince them of YOUR superiority, and you will have an inkling of what i deal with around here :/

I was going to try and write a proper reply to all this, but there seems little point in saying anything since you (Orph) will try and trounce it into the ground simply because you can't be wrong for once.

And why do you keep referring to us as children? You're the one dragging out this arguement further and further - much like a child would.

Get over it, move on and let KoRn avoid having to read any more of this crap.

I really didn't want to get involved in this conversation, and I still don't want to do it- but I think I need to say this.

First- I understand where you are coming from orph, and its OK to think that way. I'm very open minded about the way other people decide to act and think, so I'm in no position to judge. Doing so would be hypocritical. But sometimes, as you know, your opinions are not well recieved here. You, for the most part, seem to respect the fact that people have different views, but then you almost go into a tirade trying to explain your views to the other members.

I think that the root of these problems arise from the fact that most people see your attempts to explain yourself as ways of convincing other people to believe in the same ideals as you hold, which is one of the main points of a rhetoric conversation. It began with a statement of your ethic/moral stances, then spiraled into a means of defense of them.

I think the lesson to finally be learned from all of these arguments focused around you is that even though you have skewed* views on many common topics, you don't need to explain your actions. Just as you claim to respect the ethical/moral choices of the other snarkpitters, at least assume that they will do the same thing. The argument started simply because someone (Lep, I believe? correct me if wrong here) said that they disagreed with you. Then you took that to the next level- explaining why, in your views, he was wrong. This prompts a response from him, as he initially did NOT state "That is wrong because... etc etc."

YOU escalated the conversation into an argument- and by doing that you opened the conversation into other people posting their opinions. Then the whole thing just goes downhill from there.

Bottom line is, you bring this upon yourself, it seems, by posting something that can easily be misconstrued as derogatory ("so neither of us has an opinion," in this case, since lep later revealed that he DID in fact have experiences with it, and thereby had a well formed opinion), and then not realizing where things went wrong.

Just try to read your posts for things that continually cause uprisings here, by now you should at least be able to look at them and at least be somewhat able to see something amiss. Hopefully. Mabye, at least.

(*I base this on the sheer volume of comments posted on just this one fragile topic in the last few hours, derived from the fact that I haven't exactly seen one person 100% behind you in your position, so don't take it the wrong way.)

how can i be the child, if i am at the only one admitting there are multiple sides?

this thread went back and forth all day, it retained a smidgen of maturity all thru that process, then doc shows up and throws a bit of kiddy humor into the mix and suddenly its all bulls**t?

listen adam, if you have this idea that calling trounced, because i am sure of my views, then you have issues that text cannot fix.

at no point did i say anyone was wrong, but at no point did i say they were correct either..

if my inability to let sleeping dogs lie is considered childish where you live, so be it, but its not a job description around here.

opposing viewpoints are a given, acceptance of them seems to not be.

you did nothing to disprove my theory, all you did was convince me that this subject exceeded most everyones threshold of maturity, you included

sad really, cause up to this point, it was a mystery who all qualified as, childish

if it ever reached a point to where my viewpoint had 100% acceptance, then and only then could you consider it some sort of a plot on my part to alter viewpoints towards my way of thinking.

what never ceases to amaze me is the extent of others inability to accept things at face value.

i have no objective, but i am anal about the fact that i cannot under any circumstances be misunderstood, i will go to any lengths necessary to clarify any issue where i perceive a wrong against me.

either way, you made good points monkey, but i fear, that even tho you did think thru your post, from beginning to end, you based on on a false assumption, and ended up with a theory that was not exactly accurate.

yes i usually end up at the focalpoint of any major debate, but except in a few cases, i come away with my skin intact.

this issue is no different, yes lep and i disagreed at the onset, but we both ended up having almost the exact same experiences. so it smoothed out a bit.

either way, it will never be within my ability to allow others to judge my words, in any other context than how i intended them to be, if you have not grasped that yet, oh well.. i will not be falsely accused, by anyone, ever.

do i have any respect? some perhaps, but oddly enuff, i feel that the biggest percentage chance that i do indeed have some, comes from those i have locked horns with the worse (all save two people that is)

do i require respect, not really, whether anyone noticed or not, it is not a requirement for my assisting anyone in need. everyone is pretty clear as to my feeling about doc rock, but no matter, if he asks a question i can answer, i try, it doesn't matter that it may not be well received, i still try.

people who post comments like TB forwarded, will never have even my limited level of respect, cause anyone who would talk like that behind ones back, is sub-par on the respectability charts.. i would never say anything in private, that i wouldn't say right here in public.

are those i respect, you bet, more than you could possibly guess, but if you could view my scores of everyones in the rating system, you would probably be surprised at whom i do count on, and who not.. contrary to what you may believe only 2 members score a 1 (yup them two) and no one else scores less than a 3, with a very bountiful bunch of 5's

if nothing else is true, remember this about this stupid old man, you will never see me back-peddle without good cause, you will always see me stick to my beliefs, even in the face of everyone else stating otherwise, and you will always be able to count on my honesty, if those are attributes of a child, then i am so condemned, guilty as charged.

to my good friend kornman, i apologize for your thread being "trounced" today.. and if it makes you feel any better, thats a sincere reply.. i will remove every word today, if you request i do so, it was after-all, your hardship that incited this riot.. it was not my place to ruin an already trying situation..

you have my ear, if you need it.. my PM works 24/7

Orph man alot was said in that IRC convo.

People at the snarkpit get discussed all the time and as for

"i would never say anything in private, that i wouldn't say right here in public."

I sincerly doubt that, this may seem a little philosophical but its in the human nature to judge others no matter where.

Ive supported you in many things as you may remember, But your post here seems a little to un-realistic.

The comment posted in that IRC convo has been based on your acting in this thread, And it is clear that not only the "Random" irc guy thinks negative things.

It is not meant as a personal insult and if you have took it this way i can only appologise.

This thread started off as something very harmless and quickly spiralled out of control. It started when you made your point and someone disagreed with you. Now rather than just saying: ?Okay, I respect your opinion but you know I don?t agree. Lets leave it at that.? And get on with the actual subject, which I personally I think you should have done you instead tried to explain yourself, which is never a good idea. The subject here is purely opinion based and there is no hard and fast, right or wrong rule and different people will have different experiences so everyone is right regardless of you not agreeing with them. That is the beauty of an opinion.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I think it?s great that you stuck to your guns. But at the same time I think you could have stuck to your guns and avoided this whole incident and walked away with no damage to your reputation or whatever. What you?ve done in my opinion is stuck to your guns, loaded them and started firing into the air every now and again for attention.

<o:p></o:p>

I don?t doubt you have an open mind however I think there are restraints in it. If you imagine your mind is a field with many pastures. You?re in one and other people are in others. You can see them, you recognise them and see them as valid yet they are nothing more than something, which is just there and you occasionally have to wave in their direction. After so many people have posted here saying actually I disagree, etc maybe what you could have done rather than stick with your own pasture was crossed over to the next one to have a look around and revaluated your outlook on it. If you walk away still thinking I disagree then fine, your opinion your entitled to it and again you can just end the entire debacle with a simple: ?All valid points, I see what your saying, I disagree but what they hey aye?? And again the entire incident is over with none of this.

<o:p></o:p>

But you?ve haven?t done that. You?ve dragged it out endlessly arguing your side until someone like myself turns up. Realises there is no budging you from your opinion and decides rather than actually agreeing or disagreeing with your points will actually disagree with the way you choose to express yourself. My problem with that is you can?t admit your wrong or just let the subject go and you talk in a very condescending way to people. As if you?re above people because of your age or your post count. s**t I couldn?t care less about this argument; I have no experience in this and no real opinion on the subject so I would have let it pass.

<o:p></o:p>

My comment about people tiring of your antics is simply that people realise it?s a waste of time even trying though we do. Then we realise nothing has changed since last time and that we?d be better off getting a cup of tea and watching the news.

<o:p></o:p>

its lonely at the top :/

sad, when i am right, but so few know it, but hey, its ok.. i have had to deal with it much longer than snarkpit has been in existence.

i hear your words guys, i can disagree with any portion of it and still be in the right in the end.

do i have to always be proved right, no.

as long as in my mind its a done deal, thats enuff.

t-bone, you did ok.. the fact that you can say anything proves that much, but i challenge anyone here, who has talked to me in private to say anything i have said, that is in direct contrast to what i say in public, with no reprimand incurred.

honesty 1st , always..

i take it very seriously when others miss that point.

as far as it goes, some of everyones reply was valid, some of EVERYONE's .. but thats all the concession i am willing to give, if that doesn't meet with your approvals, tuff, it won't get any better, condescending or otherwise, thats the bottomline... and post counts? there are no stinking post counts anymore

Seems like everyone lost the plot after the second page! No one made an argument. Period.

For example everyone talked about differing opinions, but no one took the time to clarify exactly what the differences were...

In a nutshell orph's opinion,

"People in this day and age, give up on marriage too easily. and therefore, fail."

Everyone else's (It seems) is (To my estimation)

"A loving single parent family unit is better than a 2 unloving parent family unit for the children"

Looking at it this way, these opinions do not conflict at all.

The argument was less about differences of opinion and more about legitimate ways of expressing them

its lonely at the top :/

sad, when i am right, but so few know it, but hey, its ok.. i have had to deal with it much longer than snarkpit has been in existence.
lol no offense, orph, but just re-read what you said there. doesn't it seem that you are not open minded as you said you were earlier? "I'm right, i'm 100% right, i'm at the top, you're all wrong" ...

I have no experience in divorce, so I have no opinion - correct, orph. Hence, I don't really care who is right or wrong in the debate ... but all this self justification, "trouncing", etc is un-nessecary (like divorce, you say) - so maybe just leave now without losing too much face, which is what you should have done as soon as docrock started up

I am not saying you're wrong in your views, orph, and I don't think many of us are, only some are misinterpreting what you said, most of the time you were misinterpreting their interpretations of what you said as misinterpretations of what you said

Peace. We are all equals, there is no "top", there is no "bottom". In this matter, there is no real right or wrong, as differing circumstances and cultures etc can change everything.

where you failed to grasp this was, its lonely at the top, because...

even if i am at the top of your s**t list, its still lonely up there.. you assumed i meant something more dramatic and self righteous.

don't beat yourself up about it, most think that, its a common malady.

if people would only realize, that if they repeatedly mis-understand someone its usually a reflection on themselves, and not the person that was mis-understood.

criminals think all people are criminals, liar's think all people are liars, ect, ect.

orph has to have an agenda, because?

either way, gav at least finally got the base of it all.

rofl as i was adding stuff to my reply, orph said something  soz for double post. i'll add again what i felt i needed to say:

this sentance, is almost prophetic, i like it, it comes the closest to any decent explaination i have yet seen... nicely worded.

/me bows to the wisdom.
