i know some of you use the FF forums, so you may recognise this already, but this looks like a really neat way of doing screenshots.

http://blog.johnsto.co.uk/?action=view&id=57

and a link to some screens that have been made this way

http://www.vrway.com/vr_hl2/home_fullscreen.html

i've not had a close look at whats needed, i'll do that when i'm more 'alert', so i don't know if it could be added to a forum post. but it's a cool way of pimping your wares on a webpage at the very least.

[edit] i should have stuck this on the art board :/ [/edit]

Well it's a step in the right direction, but in addition to to the images being too small/low res there's also the problem of being able to upload them to sites like these: I don't imagine there's an easy way to check that people are uploading panoramas and not films (same file extension) though if someone made a generating tool that can do it from uploaded TGAs...). I think this method is right now better for showing off skyboxes on websites.

But then I would say that...

Wouldnt mind trying this out to show my maps off on my website. Given
it a try with HL cause not got much time and it loads faster  but it
keeps coming up with "invalid gl_envmapsize value" yet there does not
appear to be a gl_envmapsize cmd :/

It only works for HL2...

Too much work for showing off a map and pictures can hide mistakes
I think i'll stick with the old way.

Bleh, too much work just for showing-off a map like so many others.
Could be useful if you really have something cool to show-off on your own mapping site though.

Or Flash, with some actionscripting. Shouldn't be too hard.
