Kind of brother thread to the other dreams thread. Post what you would love to happen in the future, or what you wanted (if your old!).

Personally, I'd love to come in possession of an island, and make it a new country with my governmental system, and keep out anyone I don't want in. Would be amazing.

In every home I'd have a small LCD touch panel near the front door, and every day anything that was proposed for the island would get voted on by the general public by swiping thier ID card then voting. E.g. A new road is proposed in such and such area of the island. You wake up, go check the LCD before work or something and see a vote, so you swipe your ID card then press yes, no, or other. The vote is instantly sent to the main island computer, and after a week the votes are tallyed and so you can see what the people really want! Obviously its a democracy under a dictator (being me), but even then I think its the best it could get.

I'd like to own a Skateboard shop on the side of town, me the only employee.

One of those shops where everyone who comes in, you know them because they frequent there.

And a sandwich. I'd like a sandwich.

I'd wish for a (not too distant) future where the paradigm of sexual
attraction for beautifuk women was a middle-aged bloke with a receding
ginger hairline and glasses.

Failing that, one whereby enormously fat birds with acre upon wobbling
acre of cellulite-dimpled arse would be banned from wearing lycra
leggings - on pain of death.

I'd like to have invented a "Human Backup machine" and "a Time Machine"
 Then I could go back time and change the past and correct some
things I've done wrong.

Also, I'd like to have sort of an "eternal" life... with that "Human Backup Machine".. always look like 30 y/o.

If you went back in time and corrected certain aspects, then you'r whole life would be completely different... I feel its only worth doing within a 3 day threshold, otherwise your change could be extrememly significant and you would notice it...

I know. But my philosophy of the Time is that... everything you change,
changes future NOT INSTANTLY but over time. and if I do something wrong
that time, I will go back to time where I had come and everything would
be as before.

See, if I "came back" 5 minutes before I went back in time, everything
would still be normal. But if I "came back" in my original time 5
minutes AFTER I went back in time, everything would be changed. So... I
think time goes on normal speed, which gives you an advantage. And if
you go back in time a minute BEFORE you arrived last time, you could
change the time again from the "original" time structure.

So... if I'm happy with changes, I would stay and invent the same
things, since I would already know how they are done. If not... I would
go back to the future I came from

Messy talk, I know... hmm

Hmmmmm, I don't think so. If you changed something, it would be just like changing real life. I don't think you could go forward in time simply because the destination you came from has now changed, and I don't think you'd know the position in space/time where you would now become.

First, I'd like to point out that changing anything in the past inevitably creates an inescapable paradox. If you go back and change something specific, than your original motivation for making the change is eliminated. Therefore you never make the change, but if you didn't make the change then you do have the motivation again and do make the change... you see how this goes nowhere fast.

I want to be a successful novelist. That's pretty much it.

ah, i remember we had this topic more then a year ago, was one of the first ones i posted in..

My future dream is still what it was then: designing my own house and having the money to build it + 2 border collies + having a wife that meets my only expectation: waking up every morning being intrigued by her.

and maybe buying the 1 house on isla cies, north west spain. the closest island to belgium with a white beach, clear azure water and sunshine !

I want to sasve the world from impending doom. Then they well carve a 60ft high solid emerald statue of me. I want to make a Yohgurt filled dohnut. Be the greatest rock god that ever lived and died.

I plan to buy all the people off my street and then blow it up. That will make way for my mansion. Finally i want to create my own miniature civilisation were the people form powerful nations and destroy each other while i laugh at them sadistically.

first i would like to do something that changes the world and all of soiciety and i mean something big like extending human life or (prepare for geek Rival) write out a formula to answer everything. the theory of everything.

anyway a more realistic one would be to get i job that is fufilling to me and others, pays well, and i enjoy, get a beautiful wife, big house and travel and live the world. then, at 120 years old i will be fully happy.

I want to get lots of money without working and then get a huge house
and have pool parties, travel the world, have a small army of
bodyguards (that's the best part of being the prez, if you ask me)...
that'd all get pretty boring, though, which sucks.

yes but i believe that with enough money you could do anything. and with humans' short life span, there's not enough time to do everything.

but then again without non-material happiness (such as love) there is no real point is there? with all that money and material you have to have someone to share it with.

I'm one of those charmingly cynical bastards who'd say that it's
impossible to have lots of money and also someone I love to share it
with. I don't mean that in the selfish sense (i.e. I couldn't spend
70 billion dollars by myself) but rather in the untrusting of females
in general sense (i.e. They'd find a way to spend 70 billion dollars in
probably a few days).

I want my own private South Pacific Island Country. On it I would Import a german castle and have it built and have a massive system of catacombs built. I would have OC3 internet access and lots of parties on The Island Republic of Nickelplatia! Plus and international airport to fly all the snarkpitters in for a LAN party. Except Windows98, unless he cleans up his act.

okay, but realistically, I just want to be single, free, and have enough money to keep building my hot rods.

If you could somehow lose citizenship from all countries, you could technically own Antarctica. A treaty was signed sometime past that stated that no country or its citizens oculd claim antarctica for it's own. If you weren't a citizen of anywhere, you could claim it and make it your own. If I were you, I would name it back to Atlantis like it was in the old maps. and the currency would be called "turds" and one turd would be worth one million dolla!

Thats an interesting idea Nickelplate, but you'd have to do a serious load of crimes to be kicked out of every country, and very cunning ones to prevent getting put in jail! Might work though in theory. You would be a 3rd world country, but I suppose you could get loads of money from people wanting to do ice core tests there.

And you could take advantage of the huge oil deposits that could well be down there. If you can drill through a few km of ice, go for it.

I can't remember the guys name, but some guy, who was incredibly rich, bought one of those islands in the gulf (or in that area). It's completely uninhabited with people, except for him. Now, he has an army and a "government". The army consists of nothing but ex-green berets (Or so I hear). and if you wish to live in the country, you have to pay money ... however, that also means you can buy a position ... like ... secretary of state.

I don't know if it's true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me ... I mean, they started selling land on the moon to people rich enough to pay ... so I don't think this is that far fetched.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
