Just watched "De-Lovely" with my wife. It's a movie we've been
wanting to watch ever since it was released on the big screen.
I didn't know it's a musical, but I enjoyed the poignant portrayal of
Cole Porter's life. He's such a colorful character that his
actual life mirrored his songs. It was also a treat to watch and
hear contemporary musicians perform his classics (including Elvis
Costello, Diana Krall, Alanis Morisett, Sheryl Crow, etc).
All in all, a good way to spend a Friday evening.

I really liked Crash. I don't think it in any way promotes
racism. Sure, racism is brought to the forefront, but that's only
to force the viewer to ask questions about whether blind ignorance is
hurtful. The movie is pretty leading in the questions it asks, so
there's not really a chance the viewer will draw the wrong conclusions.
I've never seen the movie you mentioned, but I have read the Kipling
poem it takes its name from. If the movie is anything like the
poem, I don't see any connection to Crash.
The poem is an example of the racist thinking of the period, and Crash is a dialogue about the evils of racism.
Obviously there are some characters who are racist in the movie, but in
no way are they positively portrayed (unless they have a change of
heart).
I mean, the traffic stop scene with Matt Dillon is so tense and
disgusting you start really hating him. That is, until later.

I take it back, this movie is a must see.
When I posted earlier, I had watched only the first 10 minutes or so. That piece left a bad taste in my mouth and I posted prematurely.
I thought the car scene where Dillon rescues the woman was intense yes (especially after what he did earlier) but the scene where the little 5 year old girl is shot left me in tears. I was bawling like a baby.
Yes, this movie is a must see.

Maybe some spoiler tags on those plot moments UD?
But I agree, those two particular moments were amazing.
I wanted to cry too!

I don't know, there's a lot of tension in that scene that is kind of depleted if you know that part of what's going to happen.

I am half-way through "The Bridge on the River Kwai". It's an oldie, made in 1957, but it has a very catchy tune. I am sure you have heard it before.
And it's a very good war movie.

I just watched half of the 3 hour premier for Battlestar Galactica (ran out of time, watching the rest soon hopefully  )
I must say, it was frieking awesome. They managed to combine
stunning graphics, with fairly good acting and a plot that held up
extremely well. I found that I was gripped the hwole time, I
couldn't wait to find out more about what was going on.
To top it all off, everything was extremely well thought out, bordering on a sort of realism in every little detail.
I'd recommend watching it, it's well worth it.

There was a war movie I saw about a couple snipers after each other. Damned if I can recall a name but it was a relatively recent move (past decade). It was excellent. A must see.
I also watched Batman Begins last night. Was very pleased. I didn't really like the other renditions of the batman attempts, although Keaton did a good job. It might be though that I like Keaton movies.
If anyone can recall that sniper movie please post it as I would like to see it again.
Other great war movies:
1) The Great escape.
2) Guns of Navarone.
3) Hart's war.
4) There is one, again I cannot recall the name, about a concentration camp in WW2. The Japanese had a bunch of women captive. I wish I could remember it but its worth a watch as well.

If it involved Ed Harris as a badass German sharpshutzen, then yah it was Enemy at the Gates.

Hart's War was terrible. I F*CKING HATE THIS MOVIE. Goddammit. The thing that really pissed me off about it is that the first 40 mintues are so awesome. Then they get around to Bruce and the movie just sucks after that point. (Not that Bruce Willis sucks or anything)
Yeah, Enemy at the Gates. That movie rocks. Reno, see it. Now.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Just finished "Unleashed"
I liked it but had reservations about its setting. I am a big fan of Mr. Freeman, and Jet Li is no slouch either, but all those silly British accents almost ruined it. Its not that I hate British movies, but when its all mixed up or it feels mixed up cause of so many it feels wrong. First you have Freeman's American accent. His is the biggest star so you'd expect the movie to revolve around him and his speech patterns. The Mr. Li. His accent is, well its Li. Then all those supporting characters. All Beetle wannabees.
The who framed Roger Rabbit Star, Bob Hoskins, now he was pretty cool.
I just feel the movie was not all it should/could have been considering its actors.
Oh, thanks for the "Enemy at the Gates" heads up.

Dead link --

We are sorry, but your session has timed out.
Please re-enter the site.
Anyway -- i really like mythology, Cerberus is pretty awesome.
I often finding myself referencing mythology on a daily basis, and most of the times no one has any idea where I'm coming from.
For example, late last week a couple of my friends and I were talking
about procrastination and how we always do the same thing over and over
and never seem to learn to work ahead, and we end up suffering for it
late Sunday night over and over. I said I felt like
Prometheus. No one got it.

Well its official. This thread has gotten so big that it takes nearly 2
minutes just to load, then another minute or so so I can post.
Watched "Chicken Run" tonight. Yeah, I know its a kids show but it was
chock full of my kind of humor. From its one liners to its parody of
the Great Escape.
If you get time, and can get over the fact that you are watching a childrens movie watch it. I laughed my ass off.

I just watched Vertigo. Hitchc**k is a twisted sonuvabitch and that movie was quite the mindf**k.
Definitely worth seeing. Jimmy Stewart is the man and in this role he's so unsettling.

One of the wierdest movies I ever saw was that one whose name I can't
remember. It was almost like it was filmed backwards, and had
something to do ith a guy that had severe memory loss, and he could
only remember things for some time. It had Trinity from the
Matrix in it.
AAAGHHH! This is killing me that I can't remember the name anymore, someone tell me

Yeah. I bought the special edition. Someone told me that there was an edit on there that played the movie backwards (thus forward). I have yet to find it and I think they were bulls**tting me. Oh well, still a good movie and only cost $10
By the way, Guy Pearce f**king rocks.

It was too expensive, as Juim explained.
It is a good series.
I'm about to go see Doom. Not paying normal price, so it'll be worth it to see people die and kill on Mars ... Yeah, that's about all I expect, so I'll probably like it.

I recently watched Dawn of the Dead. It was pretty cool. The zombie
baby was creepy. It never really made me jump though, less scary than
cool. I also watched Tales of the Crypt: Demon Knight a couple weeks
ago along with Top Secret, Loaded Weapon 1 and part of Wrongfully
Accused. I loved the beginning scene of Loaded Weapon with Whoopie
Goldberg, where the assassin shoots her, then asks a question, and
shoots her again after he gets an answer, then does that two more
times. Man, I have too many 'favorite' scenes from those movies to name
them all.

Ew, Land of the Dead.
Doom was exactly what I expected ... actually it had more story than I expected. I enjoyed it. Not enough gore though. About the time The Rock started acting like Sarge, the movie got really cool. If it doesn't cost too much, and you're not avid about the literal plot of Doom (who really is ... besides Half-Dude  ) then, it's just a couple hours of poor character development with mindless action.
However, for a movie based on a First Person Shooter game ... I would have expected more guns to be fired. That was really odd.

The Time Machine is not so good after he goes into the FINAL future.
But, that has nothing to do with Mr. Pearce. Oh Guy.
