Just been looking at how many downloads the competition maps have been getting and the average is about 70...except for Melee 3D which for some reason is well over 500? How so?!

I guess it might have been pimped on other websites? I doubt just by chance, loads of monkey island fans decended on the website and wanted a 3D version of their beloved melee island
My map only has 200 downloads as it already had a little over 100 on the alpha release, so Melee 3D is miles in the lead!

I'm quite surprised 86 people actually downloaded my crappy map.

So when do we get to start voting then? Are we voting or is there a panel of judges this time round?

As before, there'll be two ways in which the maps are marked- I'll run round & review them and award a prize to the best, and you, the unwashed public, will select your favourite (with prize of... popularity.)

Right now it looks like we can vote for our own maps..?! Is that, er, by design? (I haven't voted so I don't know whether it'll block me after submitting or something. )

Nope, they can't, if you log out, then vote, after you click the vote button, the maps you have voted for have not been voted for.

As an aside, I think it would be nice to have user reviews up in the not too distant future, as I am quite up for properly reviewing some of the entries

Yeah, I'd be up for doing user reviews somewhere/somehow, but in a more
organized fashion. Maybe a thread in the "Maps" forum, with each entry
getting a chapter? Or maybe Lep should code it directly into the
website! User reviews now!
Err, when is voting going to be closed, BTW?

Lep would notice so it doesn't matter. Besides I don't think anyone is going to vote for their own map.

This isn't the Eurovision Song Contest, of course you can vote for your own map. Presumably all/most of the entrants will anyway so it doesn't matter. Oh, and I'll be on the lookout for a sudden rush of new members voting...

Reviewing is going a bit slowly, I have too much 'Real Life' stuff going on now and don't think I'll be able to get them all done until September. And I hate you all for submitting beta/buggy maps which I don't know if I should review or not  Voting will go on for a few more days, and I'll try to figure out my own final descision today and post that at the same time as the voting results.

It wouldn't make any sense to do that since you can change your vote. (That's not implying that it would be hard to do, especially with the current set up)

I just cast my two votes, and I can say that I was overall very impressed by the high level the maps attained from this years entrants. I downloaded all of them and drew myself up a little chart in word and gave them /10 scores.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing who the winner is, and good luck to everyone who entered this years competition.

How much longer until the results are announced?
Also, are there any servers playing the maps at the moment - I never got a chance to jump onto Ferret's server as it was on week nights and those crazy Americans are behind us on time - so I was tucked up in bed by the time anyone was playing

I will try to sort out my descision (along with a small description of each map) today if I can find some time, otherwise I'm going to be busy for the next week or so (but reviews will be done by the end of the month). There is quite a clear voting winner though that I'll announce at the same time..!
