There comes a time, when you are left with no alternative but to just shut up and pack up.. when one looks around and takes note of reality and asks why keep trying.

As melodramatic as that may sound, its the truth, and all I can say is, age will finally catch up to you and show each of you the wisdom of that statement.

I look around the pit, and see so much intelligence, and so little wisdom, its a quandary that seems prevalent only due to the average age the place has.. and quite frankly there is no real lasting place for someone of my age category, who has the opposite combination as a whole.

Those of you who are truly my friends, will be sad that I left, but in the end understand why, those of you who think you are my friend will think I should have stayed and fought harder for my right to defend myself.

Some of you, in the end will just be relieved, well christmas came early this year.

Finally, any admin/owner who is insecure enough to think I had so much influence that I threatened to "RUN THE PLACE" with no authority whatsoever, well they most of all do not deserve nor need people like me around. There will always be a level of animosity.. No one makes a statement like that, without a reason, be it real or imaginary. Realty you can fight, imagination you cannot, and since i have no concrete way to run the pit, it leaves only imagined.

Why am I typing this at all if I am leaving anyways? Well I couldn't just leave without some explanation, cause it would look to all as if I were indeed wrong about something, or just throwing a tantrum and left in a huff.. neither of which is actually the case. The assholes around here, I owe nothing, but a few of the others deserve a parting goodbye. In the end, I just needed time to calm down and type responsibly, with at least some measure of maturity.. Two wrongs don't make a right, and I couldn't end my time here on a wrong note. With people like me, its essential to be right, at least in their own mind, and I couldn't bring myself to type,in the fury I was in.

Snarkpit has no real place for someone my age for the simple and unavoidable fact, I will always see it as place with members half my age who have the audacity to tell me what to do, and they will always see me as someone twice their age who thinks they are better than them because of it. You can deny its true, but it changes nothing..Age separates us in unsurmountable ways.

Snarkpit locks way to many threads, in the name of forum security, but you will always note that they are never, EVER locked without the admin belittling you in some way in the very last reply.. THAT is why I cannot stay. It is the worse kind of censorship imaginable.. I was wrong, Fish was worse, but had reasons why, Lep was unforgivably so, cause his entire post was biased and left no way to refute it from anyone, especially me.

I am sure that this reply will stir up sentiments/pain/remorse/retaliation, but it is unavoidable.. be glad I left, otherwise I would have been banned, cause I would have done so much worse till there was no choice but to ban me.. In the end, its not worth it, I have dedicated much to much time to destroy what I helped to create.

There will be no other reply to this post, say what you will, debate it till the end of time for all I care.

Those of you whom care, goodbye, those of you whom don't...Oh well

Be good
Jon

Jon ... don't.

I think everyone ... and I mean everyone could take an example on how you handle these stupid situations.

What's wrong, anyway ... every time we have members leaving for
some discussion ... about "whats the best browser ?", about "bush

hot or not ?" about ... (fictional examples.)

it's just silly to see so much talent, wisdom, and reasonability (all
important factors to the snarkpit community quality) leave for some
individuals that have to ramble on for ages, and get very mean (picking
on your age, for example ... I wouldn't even accept that kind of
behaviour from a 10 year old.) about silly things.

just don't. (you even deleted your maps ... snif.)

I know you're not going to reply, so theres' no point trying to convince you in staying -- I doubt I'd hold much influence on you. But I can say without doubt - what you said above, is not what I think. I don't even consider you older than me, and only really realise it when you point it out.

That's my contribution to this thread. Laters Orph, it won't be the same.

LOL, I cant believe youve turned the admin into "Police State" esque
powers. Your remarks are stupid, misinformed and couldnt be further
from the truth. I suggest you read ALL the contentious threads from the
past before you shoot your mouth off, and perhaps count how often
admins intervene.

By most standards this forum is extremely open.. but, believe what you like

Yeah, most forums are stricter. Some you can't start a thread that isn't 100% serious without it being locked.

To be honest Orph, I consider you more childish than me. If you're going to leave simply because you don't like the way Lep runs things, then well... iffy piffy.

Don't cry because an admin does their job, and you happen to be on the receiving end of it.

I quote kyle : "I hate seeing kids with admin powers run everything like they own it."

If they have admin powers, then they probably DO own the place. Tuff noogies. They might not be the most responsible admins on Earth, I admit, some "kid admins" really don't do their job right (trust me, I've seen 'em.) I have however, seen kid admins who a perfectly fine or even perfect job with how they run things. I don't know how old lep is, but he does a fine job at admining.

Stop crying. Frankly, I'm fed up with your finger wagging as well.

don't be such a big drama queen. ok, it was s**t that a thread that a lot of people , not least yourself, had an interest in got closed off. but you didn't leave much choice when you demanded that it be left open to settle a score/resolve a situation/whatever. especially when there was, imo, no more to be said.

you let the anger get the better of you there, and now your doing it again.

anyways, i'd be willing to edit away my posts with pictures of little bunny rabbits or something, to get rid of the smell, as part means to restoring the thread.

BWAHAHAHA! Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Here's the thing, Orph is 100% against even the slightest repression of free speech, no matter how small or trivial. As Hullu said, he left the clan he founded and molded into whatever shape he wanted only to leave basically because another member removed a joke thread. Of course, there were also some power struggles/personal disagreements about the running of things that added to that. But, mark my words, he won't be back.

How many times is this now? Orpheus, I can't say I ever got to know you (but I never had a chance since you kept taking off). All I can provide is my observations. Yes, people argued with you. But you argued back. You talk about maturity and wisdom, but in my opinion, when you argued with these "kids" you became just as immature as them.

You say you are an elder and we should respect you, but you have to earn our respect. To be honest, I consider you a bad role model. You stubbornly argue your opinions and disregard any opposition. If you are going to share your opinions, you should at least be open to the opinions of others. You are inconsistent. Countless times you have stated that you won't reply or you wont argue. You have also left the forum many times. If you want people to respect you, keep your word! Don't reply. Don't argue. Don't come back.

If you have such a problem with the way these forums are run, by all means, start your own. Have your followers make you one.

I fully expect you to return. Prove me wrong.

I'm sorry, but my life doesn't revolve around the happenings of a Half-life mapping forum. Maybe one day you'll realize that there is life outside of the internet and this pretentious "badass" that you have made of yourself will be uncovered as a pathetic teenager that has nothing better to do than berate others. Perhaps it is behavior like your own that has lead Orpheus to "leave" in the first place. It is hard to take claims of "leaving" the snarkpit serious since it seems such a popular thing to do.

How ironic it is, then, that whenever you choose to rear your head it is almost always in a situation such as this. You are truly a man among pathetic badass teenagers, Dietz.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here? Perhaps you could enlighten me?

Also, who said I was a teenager?

The true art of raging a forum is not spamming, this can be cleaned up
pretty quickly. It is to set members against each other and cause rifts that
will ultimately destroy the forum..

Do you all not realise what DocRock has done? He's turned everyone in this forum against each other, whether on purpose or not.

Drop the flaming and forgot the past week happened on the forums, or
else the community will completely fall apart. The community has
already had one loss in this, and if this continues then more are
likely to leave.

Ummm, has it occured to you that Orph will probably decide whether to
come back or not based on how he interprets people's "goodbye" posts.

With all this flaming, it'll probably reinforce his decision to leave. Oh well, who can blame him.

Bye Orph, it was great having you here. You've been a guide to many people, including myself to a certain extent.

Anyway ... Perhaps it was time to move on anyway? You sure have been
here a long time as a core member. You can't spend your whole life on
Snarkpit!

s**tbeans.
I kind of saw it coming though

Good luck with whatever endeavors you peruse in your mapping interests.

I hope to get to talk to you out side the pit though; those conversations can be fairly helpful when they're not about poo

This is ridiculous now.

There is no villain here in this leaving thread - whatever your views
of Orph, this was his decision to leave - I, Lep nor anyone else
cajoled him into it. Please dont try and make it out to be otherwise.

Orph left on his own terms, of his own accord, he was not pushed, he was not forced - he left on his own free will.

I think this fanboy convention thats following this thread and trying
to lay the blame at someones door is completely ridiculous and entirely
misguided in trying to make pariahs of certain users, Lep and the
admins/mods.

He left, because he felt he wanted to leave. Simple as that. Anyone who
tries to suggest otherwise, should, like I say research the history
behind the leaving decision and also review how we, the moderators use
our powers. I think the facts will speak for themselves.

As far as i'm concerned it's case closed now, so why don't we just move on...

Peace,

Gwil
