Let's show off our Pit pride and let the public know that we are geeky but proud of it.

I want a large (U.S. size) and I'm willing to pay $20 for it.

What about this catchy phrase on the back side? It's a mapper's insider joke, and it's almost hip.

User posted image

This way, even for the general public who don't know anything about
mapping, the shirt will still catch their attention. Heck, you
might even get a cute girl asking you what it means.

And on the front, there has to be a little adorable snark next to the "SnarkPit".

very nice idea, but dont you think that if a girl came to you asking what is that, you will go say that its a mapping thing, i think she would think that your a computer nerd...

But what the heck, i like the t-shirt

To be honest, I don't like that slogan for the back.

But instead of just saying I don't like it... here's a what I'd
prefer. It's not really centered correctly, but it's just a rough
representation along the lines of my original idea in the other thread.

Thumbnailed to be nice.

I just think wireframes look great. Obviously, we could choose a
different wireframe shot, but this is just to give you a general idea
of how I want it to blend with the shirt. Opinions?

I think that is kinda better, if someone would see it, they would atleast understand that you work in a complex thingy, or maybe someone would have a better picture??

Very cool, prefer the second back. Although add a "slogan" at the
bottom of that on the back. Something like "Half-Life Community
since..." and of course don't forget the URL somewhere, even if tiny
and on a little square like the nike thing is on football shirts!

I couldn't come up with any clever slogans... so I just dropped the URL in with a little snark.

User posted image

The URL could also wrap around the left sleeve if you wanted to make room for an actual slogan.

And, if you count Lep's user registration as Day 1, then this place has been around since August 20, 2001.

Cafepress is obviously somewhere that will do them- I personally wouldn't be seen dead wearing any internet-related t-shirt, though a mousemat would = win  I'll look into setting something up online, though any retailer suggestions would be welcome.

edit Cafepress don't do black shirts

This can easily be printed onto a T-Shirt and ironed on carefully.

Like I said in the other thread, I have a friend who started his own
company a few years ago that handles things exactly like this. If
we were to order something like 50 shirts, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't
mind doing them for ~10 bucks each. If we can't buy in that
quantity, it will cost some more. The shirts are of good quality,
since I know the guy who owns and run the company.

I mean... did we even decide on a design?

I'd wear the snarkpit one, as long as it didn't have the url... The first one was pretty good, though I dunno about the back, and it would have to be printed on decent material- not some crappy plastic s**t stuck onto a crap t-shirt.

My mate at uni did a t-shirt design company a while back. If I remember correctly he got around 100 t shirts done, and it costs around ?3 per t-shirt that way. Assuming you sell them for between ?5-?10 you make quite a fair profit, which can be used to pay for your design labour and other stuff- such as paying for hosting this site maybe?

10 bucks each is expensive for 50 shirts. Should be around $8

I'd go with your idea of having the wireframe, but I want to make sure that the pattern is visible and large enough to be seen on the black background.

I don't want the URL on the shirt. I don't like to be a walking advertisement.

Yeah, but she's not a mapper. So she wouldn't understand how we think. I bet she doesn't appreciate the beauty of a well-placed point_spotlight on an intricate texture either. I'd be temporarily mesmerized by something like that.

I been giving it some thought since i noticed this thread. coming up with a catchy slogan is always a bitch.. E=MC2 has been used already, so we can't use that one, but i figure something similar about editing could. i did like the "Got Leak" one, but its so rudimentary, that only a hammer user would comprehend, where on the other hand, everyone gets the Einstein one.

we need one that a slightly broader group might get.. problem is, i cannot remember before i started mapping so i cannot think of one that broad

perhaps we should use our biggest mapping argument and have "R_Speeds 1" on it :/

/me goes back to contemplating the idea.

R_Speeds 1
But that's already obsolete. We're talking about +showbudgets now.

The wireframe pattern suggested by ATM seems popular. If there isn't any objection, we'll stick with that one.

we have a t-shirt printing establishment here in Arkansas i know about, the wireframe thing would be pricey.. you guys do know that, right?

i am not to much concerned however, so keep me posted on the results as they progress.. as long as, they do not exceed 20-30 bucks.. i draw the line at a 30+ dollar t-shirt, no matter the good intentions.

as far as that goes, why not have our founders avatar on the back.. it speaks mounds in dedication. :/

Obviously, I like the idea, but not the particular wireframe
image. It was the only one I had on hand on my computer, and saw
it just as a placeholder. There's got to be some cooler wireframe
shots out there of some more complex geometry (but not so complex that
it's just a crowded mess of colored lines).

In other words, does someone have a cooler wireframe picture we could use? Unless nobody cares either way?

Satchmo your missing the point about what I said about someone saying it was stupid... I'm taking it as a general comment from the not knowing people in the world. They think it looks stupid- so I doubt anyone will get that cute hawt chick coming up to them lol! I think just plain old Snarkpit is best. for what its worth, i do not like the idea of the word snarkpit on a t-shirt.

it is a borrowed name, and it is not what makes us... who we are.

i would not stand in the way of any idea, i am just voicing my thoughts.

we are a group of mappers dedicated to our leaders site continued existence. we are not a collective of snarkpitters.

Some really cool designs. I'm not as set on my wireframe idea
anymore. I plain black Tshirt with a simple snarkpit on the front
may be the best bet. But now I want a wireframe mousepad!

Valve is a pretty cool company, and there's a good chance if we asked
them if it was alright, they'd let us use the snark logo as long as we
weren't going to start selling them commercially. Besides, Valve
has always been more fond of the headcrab than the snark.

If you wanted a slogan for the wireframe design, why not "gl_wireframe

Ignoring my crappy Photoshop skillz for a second here, I (and apparently others) would prefer
something that's much simpler and isn't a wireframe. Perhaps along the lines of this: (brown is the new black)

I like it because its simple, but I don't know. I think I'd feel a little goofy walking around with only
a picture of an organic weapon (albeit loveable) from a videogame on my
chest.

For some reason I keep thinking I'd like a shirt that just said "The
SnarkPit" without the snark (blasphemy you say!) in the yelllow text
from the header of the site.

What do you think of that?

The main logo / picture should be on the back not the front
though. Since thats what people see more. And my personal
opinion is to stick with the logo, or something with a snark as I would
not wear anything with a wireframe on it. Although lep has the
right idea that a wireframe mousepad would be pretty sweet.
