Halloween is coming up. I don't know how many of you here are
planning to dress up, but this is a thread to either share what you're
planning (and eventual post pictures of the costume etc) or help others
brainstorm a good idea.
I'm going in with a bunch of other friends (right now we've got 8
total, but could have as many as 23) who are willing to dress up like
zombies with me. We're going to run around campus like a mob
straight out of 28 days later. However, the real icing on the
cake is one of us will have a boombox, which will be playing thriller
on repeat, and we'll be doing the dance. One of my friends has a
red jacket and can do some of the MJ dance moves... so I think we're
golden.
What are YOU thinking of doing?

Wow, man. You guys are going all out. That sounds fun.
I'll be working that day, so I am debating whether I should dress up for work. After all, I am a pediatrician, and I know some of my co-workers do dress up to see patients.
I have never done it before, so chances are, I'll be boring again and just put on a regular shirt and khakis for work. Doing a clown is so Patch Adams and unoriginal, so I am avoiding the cliche.
I thought of being Gordon Freeman (the obvious), and it's possible to modify a Storm Trooper suit into an HEV suit. But it takes a lot of work, and I just don't feel that motivated.

Last year I had some ideas for a really awesome haunted house. But my friends pussed out on me. It would have been SO freakin' awesome too.
The house would start at a garage enterance then lead through to a door out the back to a backyard.
So, basically, the haunted house would seem really cheesy ... until you got to the backyard. It would seem like the exit, then people dressed as zombies would be hunched over ... something ... it'd be dark so you coudn't really see. There'd be two people in the group that are "in on it". So, they'd get to the point where the two people begin arguing one being the guide, the other being the 'roudy tourist' who's bashing everything. So, they'd be fighting as everyone else notices these people walking up who're covered in gore, then as they're screaming at each other, the tourist screaming would get a huge chunk of their neck ripped out. Blood gushing out and down their body.
The tour guide would rush everyone through a door leading into the house trying to 'save' them, asking if everyone is alright and all that stuff. At this point the people would be like, "wtf, mate" and making comments. The guide would emphasize that this isn't part of the haunted house.
They'd get lead through a small hall way, which is all dimly lit ... then all lights would shut off. The ends of the hall (which is purly fabricated, since we need the sides open. The sides are lined with a type of elastic fabric.) So, then some lights would come on to dimly illuminate the hall and the 'ends' would slowly move in towards the people in the middle, then stop (so there's enough room in there, but not comfortable)
Then, very deep voice would with background, errie ass music (violins and stuff) would come on. Saying all sorts of weird crap. (good sound systems. so it'd be doable) while this stuff is being said (imagine the machine talking at the end of Revolutions) So, while that is happening arms and stuff would start coming out of the walls. It would all aburptly stop and the lights would go out. Remove the sides of the hall (with some slide mechanism or something) and have clear plexiglass or something and have the zombie return to end the house.
It's a little over complicated, but that's only normal because I never actually did it.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Haha -- the only problem with that is if you convince someone so thoroughly that they start to fight for their lives.
Then you have to deal with a hysterically violent visitor.

Win, I hope you dress up all kingly... the mask alone won't get the job done!
But good idea, I say.
Also, I love how they are sold out of BK King masks already.

There's only one problem about running around with a crow bar that HL overlooks, thus the many Halloween costumes based on it: crow bars are quite heavy. At least, awkward and clumsy enough to require two hands to "wield".
Cool idea though. It's tough though, try to swing a crow bar around with one hand and control it like you do in HL. Pretty f**king hard.
I'm surprised no one is dressing up like Ash.

TracerBullet, you look like Anakin Skywalker.
I am considering to dress up as Harry Potter. It's not the most
original, but it's respectable for a pediatrician. All the nurses
are begging me to dress up.

I ran into a harry potter last night, there was also a redhead friend
who had dressed up as Ron. It worked out pretty well.

get some white and black facepaint. mix them for some gray, and
dilute it with water to make it look less like paint and more like the
tint of your skin. Use some eyeliner pencil thing for the eyes.

The contacts were $60... pretty spendy for just one item, but not bad since it was the only component of my "costume". I'm going to try to save them and use them again next year, but I don't know if they are shelf-stable like that after they've been used.
As for the actor resemblences... my face IS pretty angular like both of the mentioned people, but I accentuated it with soot from a candle flame to make myself look much more gaunt than I really am.
Some people are like slinkys...
They aren?t really good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one tumbles down the stairs.

Quite scary, but what MadeDog said turned out to be true.
Teen Guns 2 Down, Kills Self in O.C.
Looking 'like Darth Vader' in mask and cape, youth kills father and daughter neighbors, then takes his own life. No motive is known.By David Haldane and Daniel Yi
Times Staff Writers
October 30, 2005
Two days short of Halloween, a 19-year-old Aliso Viejo man wearing a paintball mask and dark cape terrorized his neighborhood Saturday morning by gunning down a woman and her father in their home and taking aim at others before committing suicide, authorities said.
"He looked like he could have been going out for Halloween ? like Darth Vader," Lt. Erin Giudice, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said of the shotgun-toting teenager, who also shattered a window of another neighbor's house and pointed his weapon at a resident before it misfired.
The gunman, William Freund, had no relationship with his victims, although they were acquainted, sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. "It appears to be a random shooting," he said. "This a very tragic and very bizarre story."
The shootings, in an upper-middle-class neighborhood called California Summit, began just after 9 a.m. on Somerset Drive, a circular street with about two dozen single-family homes.
Freund ? wearing a cape and a dark paintball helmet with a clear face shield ? left his house on Sunbury Drive, which crosses Somerset, drove his car less than 100 yards around a corner, entered the neighbors' house and opened fire, according to deputies. Christina Smith, 22, and her father, Vernon Smith, 45, were killed. One body was found in the family room and the other on the staircase, Amormino said.
Christina's 20-year-old brother, who was not further identified, escaped unhurt through the back door, Amormino said. Her mother was at work.
After leaving the Smiths' house, authorities said, Freund shot at a house across the street, breaking a window and slightly injuring a man inside with the falling glass. Freund then tried to shoot at another man who had come outside to investigate, Amormino said, but the weapon did not fire.
Finally, Freund walked slowly back to his own house and shot himself with the shotgun.
Amormino said more deaths could easily have occurred. "Everybody [in the neighborhood] feels lucky, but very sad." Most are in shock, he said.
Freund lived with his parents, who were being questioned by deputies Saturday afternoon. They were not identified by deputies, but property records show that the home belongs to Dennis J. and Karen L. Freund. They could not be reached for comment.
Based on 911 calls, Amormino said, the incident spanned just three to four minutes.
The first calls from the Smiths' neighbors came at 9:07 a.m., he said, followed quickly by another set of calls from Freund's neighbors.
Amormino said deputies found no signs that Freund had been using drugs or alcohol.
Stunned neighbors who gathered in front of their homes Saturday afternoon described Freund as quiet kid who sometimes played his guitar in front of his house.
"He was always with his parents," said a 15-year-old neighbor who lives a block away.
Freund attended nearby Aliso Niguel High School, graduating in 2003. He did not sit for a yearbook photo.
At a homecoming dance at the school Saturday night, none of those interviewed said they knew him, and even in his own neighborhood, no one seemed to know him well.
"I'm just freaked out," said Shannon Hill, 36, who lives three doors from Freund. "We're just like, 'Did he go freako?' It's not like we heard any yelling or anything over there."
The Smiths, described as an outgoing and friendly family, were known for their decorative holiday displays. Every Christmas, said a neighbor, the Smith house looked like "a miniature village with multiple Christmas trees. They are really welcoming to everyone in the neighborhood."
On Saturday, the house, cordoned off by yellow crime-scene tape, was decked in Halloween colors, with miniature ghosts, goblins, witches and skeletons hanging from its porch.
A couple of blocks away, a child's birthday party was in full swing, with young guests still arriving in costume.
"This is the ultimate suburb," Ephraim said. "It's scary to think something like this could happen so close to home."
Other residents said they hadn't heard the shots.
"In the morning," said Yoshie Harada, 46, "I noticed the streets were blocked off," but she said she thought deputies were trying to keep party-goers at a nearby college campus from parking in residential areas.
"It is surprising," she said of the shooting.
"But then again, it could happen anywhere."

If they're reusable then its definitely worth it... but I bet in 365
days when you go to open the contact case all you get are tiny particles.

I got some of these contacts as well.
The were a little cheaper. But I kept them about 2 or more years in
salt-solution and the are not dissolved. I trew them away - cause I
never will need them again. But I guess I could have used them again.

I got a better idea. My real name is gender ambiguous in the States (no, it's not Pat), so all my patients thought I were female before meeting me.
For Halloween, I am going to be a female doctor for a day. I'll borrow my wife's blouse, skirt, and stocking, and dress shoes, plus a long wig. I will go to work as the female doctor that everyone always thought I was.

I haven't had too many Halloweens in the past, mainly because by the time I immigrated to the States, I was already in high school.
I did dress up a few times, once as a stalker of some sort, and the other time as a HUGE NERD. I didn't require too much mock-ups for the latter.

Cross-dressing is a halloween staple.
I've never done it, but plenty of people do.
