Over the years there have been plenty of rubbish peripherals released for games systems. Example? The sound lounger;

User posted image

Could that look any less appealing? Apparently it features a subwoofer so powerful you'll feel every roaring engine and brutal punch - and all from the discomfort of some s**tty sleeping mat that places you in a horribly awkward gaming position! Only 130 pounds each? No wonder that guy bought a second one for his mate!

What pants peripherals have you guys come across? Anybody laid down the cash for something embarrasingly poor?

Haha, that does look actually quite uncomfortable... at least turn it into a chair or something where you don't have to hold your head up while laying on a thin mat..

Hmm, nothing else comes to mind, though...

I came across some obscure thing called VirtualBoy.

User posted image

It's the most egocentric console I've ever seen: when you play, you put your face straight in front of it, closed off from the outside world. Very odd, but it has a 3D screen! Yeah, some lense tricks and two 2D views layered on top of each other - which actually give a cool result. Other than that, it's highly unpractical.

I also bought a 'head'set once, that registered head movement. I tried using it as a mouse replacement - untill my neck started to hurt, and that was pretty soon actually. Never again.

My friend had a virtual boy. The graphics were all red, and it gave you a headache. Pretty terrible all in all.

iPods kick ass.

Anyways, I've seen some dumb ones in my day, like a USB Nerf rocket launcher, a USB beverage cooler etc.

I just have a Logitech gaming controller I can plug in to play sports games.

I has a gaming chair at one time. My wife bought it for me as a gift. Speakers in the head rest and all, but god awfully uncomfortable. I had to use a pillow to sit on it. I think I trashed it finally, don't even remember now.

There is this thing called the 'Buttkicker' (no joke), and all it does is pumping the basses through your chair. I think it was 250 $, lol.

Plus, who shows that much emotion when gaming? Realistically, the eyes glaze over and the jaw slightly droops. They clearly didn't do any research at all.

I'm surprised there wasn't beer and bikinis-clad 18 year olds in that ad, considering everything else is fantasy, they might as well go all the way.

If your talking about the Track IR, then it rocks. Best 130 bucks spend ever. Though the mouse replacement mode isnt too best, but it isnt mainly developed for that. And its widly supported in HL2 and the Sim community.

I made a USB fan. It doesn't move much air on account of USB running on 5V and case fans running on 12V. It also doesn't light up. The only "LOL PRITY COLERZ" fan I own, was a gift, a gift that sits unused under a pile of wires, packaging material, tools and other random crap. Actually that's a lie, the other one is an integral part of the proper functioning of my heatsink, removing the fan wouldn't be hard, but replacing it would. I think acrylic windows in computer cases are retarded... LOL PRITY COLERZZ!

Spare case fan + Spare rocker switch + Solder + Electrical tape + Boredom = USB desk fan

You mean the one sat right there on my desk? It is a bit pointless I admit, and totally overkill for a keyboard, but its just a nice keyboard all round and the LCD does have its moments. Nice to be able to see your winamp playlist, volume, temp settings, clock, etc... all while running any full screen app. I remember while playing the Auto Assault beta you could also use it to show stats and things normally hidden away on menus in game too - apparently thats something you can do in a fair few games but I don't play enough these days to notice. Loads of programmable keys, lovely media controls (and with the LCD giving you feedback on your input, they are better than ever), great keys to type on, and nice backlighting to boot. I'd buy it again in an instant, to be honest

EDIT: Oh wait, you prolly mean that one with LCD buttons. Yeah, thats pretty f**king ridiculous

Actually the LCD buttons really come in handy. I don't have them, but I have to type in about 4 different languages and use characters from lots more... it'd be nice if when I switched Windows languages, it changed the text on the keys to reflect that country-s style of keyboard

Как это!!
