System Shock 2
HL, in particular TFC
HL2
Baldur's Gate
Deus Ex
F.E.A.R
Maybe, also, possibly Max Payne and Civilization2/Alpha Centauri, Dungeon Keeper, Theme Hospital

Then there are the old skool snes and megadrive games:
Sonic 1, 2, 3 + Sonic & Knuckles
Legend Of Zelda: Link To The Past (truly a classic)
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Mortal Kombat
Star Wing/Fox
Donkey Kong Country

Yoshi's Island

Last 2 games were extra special because I remember them as being the last 2 games I ever got for the snes before I made that ill advised jump to PCs
Hello there.

Ok Everybody Who in this fourm says halo is crap or dissagrees with the Facts. Or Whatever if u dont like the game. Tell me why. Give me reasons why Halo is s**ty. I would just like to hear why.
I have a freind who is full on hard core Nintendo Fan. He hated Halo. He hated Half-life. Hated everything that was not Nintendo. one day I went to his House and Installed Halo on His PC. I was playing it in front of him. At first he said it was boring and crappy. But then He asked for a go... To this veryday he stays up late plays the Game with His beer on his right side and Munchies on his left side and His xbox 360 controller he bought just for the game plugged into his laptop. He still likes Nintendo but is busting to play Halo2 and Halo3. So dont dis Halo until you've played it. I used to Hate it to. I thought It was Just a stupid shooter that was really crap. Than I went to a freinds house and He was playing Multiplayer with another freind. Now i have The game and Halo2 on xbox. I have a halo3 desktop and I'm currently downloading Halo CE so I can make custom maps and play them online. and Just yesterday I found an easteregg in Halo (Easter egg is a halo Secret. Just look up "halo eastereggs")
Trust me halo is much more than youre average Game. If you want to know whats so good about it either play it or research the game. But dont say its bad If you Haven't Played it. (Note The halo demo is s**t)
So if you hate the game, I want to hear why. Please
By the way I used to hate Halo2 as well. But there is soo much more depth and so much more story to tell and Its soo much better. You just Have to take time and top and Whatever you do, dont skip the cinimatics.
ok so i played through the entire first halo and part of the second one, i didn't think it was that great, i think i've already made that clear, most of the "tense" moments of the game weren't that tense because they were impossible to lose for example: the last level where you race through on the warthog, it takes no skill other than holding the gas down and stearing i'm pretty sure you'd have to be a total dumnass to lose. The weapons were fairly cool i guess but they were overlypowerful, i killed one of the more powerful guys by shooting him in the big toe with the sniper rifle

also didn't like the jumping, kinda wierd and unrealistic, even in the halo environment i don't care who you are noone falls that fast in an environment with "normal" gravity

I agree with your friend that Nintendo makes great systems, but their shooters are almost notoriously horrible so he had s**tty games to compare halo to, i having a feeling he never played half-life but only called it s**t because he was to stupid to even play it, at least the people here railing on halo have played it previously, seriously man, quit falling in with the mainstream gaming crowd and find the quality games for yourself

Halo 1: An Example of some of the best Multiplayer Experiences ever i Absotely love each map and i think in terms of gameplay the game is untouchable. Weapons where well balanced and the gameplay was easy to get used to hard to master. In halo i Consider myself a proffesional player ive ranked high in clan games etc etc over Xlink Kai

Halo 2 (not Favorite im just stating my opinion) I played halo 1 nonstop i would play for 2 hours after school for 5 months and was awesome. When halo 2 came out the maps where disappointing the gameplay was not there. Long range weapons are highly unbalanced there are two many close range weapons. The maps had disappointing flow and where pretty crappy. The game suffered heavly in lan parties with more than 8 people the lag was unbearable in 16 player games on smaller maps.

Back to favorites

HalfLife 1: Whats there to be said it changed the face of FPS games forever
Quake 1: Ultimate DM game I wish i was a proffesional quake player becuase of how awesome the game is FYI I have a few quake maps that i built if you would like to try the send me a pm
Quake 3: Like quake 1 but enhanced in some ways
Legend of Zelda: Most of the series was undeniably awesome Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time is one of my all time favs
CounterStrike (goldsrc) Im a proffesional player nuff said
Forza Motorsport: ive pretty much mastered the game

Probally mroe but i cant think of them
Why Do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties

What I liked about Halo: the shield system, the cooperation with marines, the tense combat and the immersive music. Oh, and their level-design: grand-scale details, few small details.

What I didn't like about Halo: repetetive combat (not only the Flood became repetetive), bland level-design (or should I say blending?).

I never played Halo 2 and I don't intend to unless they port it to PC, as I'm no console guy.

What I found interesting is how Bungies style didn't really change much from Oni to Halo. Both feature large environments with little small detail and a lot of enemies. There are various other similarities as well, such as unique guns (almost every weapon in Oni had a distinct use, rather than being a rehashed weapon with some higher stats).
In fact, I'm not sure which one I liked more... Halo had the raw run'n'gun action, but Oni's emphasis on close and fluid melee combat was pretty, too.

As for my all-time favorites, I guess this evolves over time. I'm not often going back to replay an oldie. But the games that made a definite impact were the following:

Tomb Raider
- Spend a lot of time exploring those tombs and quicksaving/loading. I like running around in beautifull locales without spending actual calories.
Command & Conquer
- Not the first RTS, but definitely the one that boosted the genre. Great story, too.
Half-Life
- One of the better shooters of it's time, this one wasn't about the gameplay, but about the whole experience. Total immersion.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
- Of all racegames, this is still my big favorite. Not really because of the gameplay, but for the beautifull environments and tense music.
Create-ivity - a game development blog

Ooh, I almost forgot about Mario Kart 64. It's twice as good as double dash.
That was my FIRST console game. And in my opinion one of the best games as well.

A few other adventure games to add:

Super Mario 64

Banjo-kazooie (Rare the company makes good games in general)

Donkey Kong 64

Hunt - my first owned console game was Alex Kidd in Miracle World for

my first game was probably jurrasic park (snes), first game i owned was an old snes mighty morphin power rangers game (yeah i know i'm a power rangers generation kid). it's amazing looking back at mariokart and seeing how much easier it got, the first one on snes was really hard, rainbow road was nigh unbeatable last i played it, the 64 one was disgustingly easy. i loved double-dash it was interesting playing with my brother, but the one thing we have always worked well together on are coop console games

Hm, interesting way of putting it, my memory of exactly which games were first are hazy, so I'll just say which I'm certain were in the initial playing:

(Consoles I own)
NES - SMB/Duck Hunt
SNES - Super Mario World
N64 - Shadows of the Empire
GCN - Smash Bros. Melee
GB - Mario Land
GBC - Either Mario Bros. Deluxe or Link's Awakening
GBA - No clue, perhaps Zelda Four Swords although I know I had earlier experiences.
NDS - Mario 64 DS
PSX - Jet Moto 2 or FFVII
PS2 - The Bouncer
PSP - Metal Gear Acid
Xbox - Jet Set Radio Future
WSC - Final Fantasy I
SAT - Fighters Megamix
DC - Hm... Power Stone or Sonic Adventure
PC - Too long ago, my first experiences were with computers I didn't own, my friend's dad used to play games like Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, etc. so those were probably my first PC games.

(Stuff I don't own, but have played)
MAC - Okay, dunno if it counts, but I used to play Oregon Trail and Cross Country Canada on an Apple IIgs back in elementary.
Commodore-ish system - Leisure Suit Larry
GEN - Sonic 2
S-CD - Sewer Shark (I think that's what it was)
X360 - Dead Rising
Arcade - Space Invaders or Pac-man
And to the others I've forgotten, oops.

The first game I every played must have been some commodore 64 games I don't even know the name of at my cousin's computer.

First game I owned: TETRIS for the Gameboy
I don't know if you played for lines or score. I played for score and my record is 260,000 in lvl 9 standard mode. You get a space shuttle for that.

Quake 2- amazing for its time and the atmosphere and story were all good. No crappy super complex stories just to make the game seem good <cough HL2 cough>...

Also, any fewl knows X-com TFTD was better than UFO defence!

I have that on Genesis (American Mega Drive). I used to play it all the time. But after annihilating the only levels in the game (all 5) it got old. I still think the werewolf is the 'best' power-up though. Too bad the remake got axed, it could have been fun.

Christ...It can't be any simpler...All the games that came out on the Nintendo 64 especially the adventure types...These days games never seem to last as long as those oldies for the N64...I used to spend countless hours playing Banjo Kazooie and Zelda...Oh and Mario...Loved them all with a passion.

I would have included summoner in my own list if the game didn't lose something at the half-way mark.

Ahh Sim City 2000, I spent way too much time of my childhood on that game

Your Av reminds me, I remember if you had a certain number (was it 130ish?) of those things in your city, after a time they would all start basting off into space  great easter egg!

It would always crash my pc though... too much stuff happening at once, I remember the first thing I did when we got a new pc... installed SC2k made a city with the required number of those things and watched as they blasted off and the pc didnt crash!! /me was happy that day

The best game ever is Battlefield 2142. Why?

I haven't played any game as much as Battlefield 2, and DICE fixed all the game play-issues in 2142. I have insanely fun playing battlefield 2142 with my friends.
