Personally, I feel that it is nearly as important to credit those who invested their valuable time in your creation AS the creation itself.
I voted other however because no one option is the correct choice for me. My main credit medium is the classic text file associated with the zip but if its important enough I will also include a game text entity message and perhaps an easter egg. I have also had use of textures with key personages upon them.
In the end, its just so important to me that I mention as many as I can humanly recall.. INDIVIDUALLY!
You will prolly never see me say "Thanx to the gang at Snarkpit"
Its just so ungrateful.
The best things in life, aren't things.

I voted "other" like Orpheus for pretty much the same reason.
In my opinion, you should always do a complete credit listing in your readme file. But I also enjoy putting/seeing a decal of your nick in a map, as well as game_text easter eggs (find a hidden room and it displays, or press a button on the wall)... always a fun surprise.

I like placing brushes wrapped in a texture of myself in every corner of the map along with speaker towers yelling my name while playing Ave Maria in the background. :heee:
Oh and every now and then my name flashes on the players' screens with a bright-red font, just to remind them whose map they're playing.

I voted other -- for me, it's really based on the scale of the map. Some kind of full blown production, such as classic, had a formal "credits scene" at the end of the map. Factions on the other hand, mainly used a solid with text on it, and of course, both maps features credits in a text file.
So yea. I'd mainly do the credits in game, since the number of people who read a text file is marginal.
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

I voted other for the same reasons as Orpheus listed.

I only add all the stuff in a .txt-file.
Mainly since my "thanks to" -lists always become huge, and include about 50 names.

For single player maps game_text at the end + txt file, for multiplayer maps txt file and maybe an easter egg.
