Wow, that's quite a list Crono. There's no way I could be
anticipating that many games for a half-year span. Beyond the
economics of it, I wouldn't have enough time to devote to each
game. I'll probably buy that many more CD's before the year's out
though.

I'm starting college in the fall, so I won't be able to get as many PC games (and my PC will need an upgrade to play Bioshock and Crysis, anyway).

I'll still get the orange box, though, and then I'll make some portal maps.

If anything, I'll upgrade my PC to get Unreal 3.

Gears of War
Unreal Tournament 3
Crysis
Half-Life 2: EP2/TF2/Portal
Call of Duty 4

However, I don't have any money left to pay for these games after upgrading my system with the 8800 GTS, the AMD 4800 X2, and two new monitors! :dodgy:

Valve stuff allows you to use the keys now over steam and just download it.

No. It's a more-classic style adventure game about pirate gold ... but fun.

CCS, yeah, it's a lot of games. I'll most certainly not get all of them. Which makes me sad in a way. But there's just a lot of really good looking games coming out this year (I have been looking forward to many of these games for well over a year). Pretty much every game I listed on the PC are games I really want to play (Kane & Lynch is of particular interest since it's made by Io Interactive and taking that it has the same play style as one of my favorite games made by them: Freedom Fighters ... well you get the idea).

I think the stuff I listed on DS and Wii are games I'll get over time, like the next 2-3 years.

There's just too many coming out, I'm not even listing stuff that I know comes out next year.

Natus, I'm interested to hear how Fury was. I picked up a key for the beta, but didn't have time to check it out. (A friend of mine told me he didn't get to play it because the f-ing updates took too long to download)

OMG Crono have you playen Metroid Prime on DS. Seriously worst game ever on any console in the last say 200 years. And it scored like a 9/10, are you kidding me. The game is so boring and the mutiplayer is like the most unbalanced thing ever. There is somthing wrong there.

Riven, since when is Gears of War on pc?

Consoles didn't exist 200 years ago. Your attempt at exaggeration is annoying and has utterly failed.

Worst game on any console? Are you retarded? If we're comparing, just in the realm of FPS', I can think of a worse console FPS' ... hmm.

It's a really well made game ... especially considering: IT'S AN FPS ON A HAND-HELD. You want to see a bad DS game? Pick up Lunar. (F*ck you UbiSoft!)

Gears of War has always been destined for the PC. Why? It's made by Epic. What is Epic? A PC game developer. Unreal Engine 3 was running on PCs like three years ago they just weren't finished with any games.

They just released Gears of War on Xbox first to get sales (and money from MS for moderate exclusivity, I gather).

Lionhead Studios does the same thing. Fable exclusive? Yeah, sure it is.

Not that games on the Xbox stay exclusive anyway.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

No way! I guess I don't plaster it all over the place like in the past but I (still) have a 24kbs dialup connection, which means not only can I not use steam or digital distribution but I can't even play any source game online cause I get autokicked for too high a ping. I love that server setting so much  Even better is when they lock the rate really high and won't let you reduce it, which makes your high ping even higher.

Oh and Metroid Prime1 is worse than Halo1. If I wanted my hand held through a 3d regurgitation of Super Metroid where I wouldn't die even if I tried I'd go plug in the SNES, use a game genie, and take some LSD.

Golden Eye: Double Agent
That's a much worse DS game (and it's an FPS to boot) than Metroid Prime for DS. It was like playing Doom on a screen that's too small to see any enemies that, incidentally, have no problem seeing and shooting at you.
My only problems with Metroid were how tired my hand got after holding my DS in one hand for half an hour. That and the story sucked, but gameplay was good...for a hand-held FPS.

Stadric, The two DS games that make my hand cramp are Metroid and Star Fox. SF, of course, is substantially better than Metroid (even if the plot is worse).

Finger, cool.

Are those weird break-lines gone from the building collapsing in the city (I don't remember the name ... the big one). I saw a video being demoed by some Insomniac-type, where Ratchet was grinding down a rail while the city was being destroyed. While it was pretty nice, overall, at one point this building begins falling in the background ... and it looks terrible. There were some serious graphical errors (surfaces disappearing). Do you have any idea of what I'm talking about?

The only bad news I have for you, is I'm not going to play the game any time soon. I don't know anyone who has a PS3, and I'm certainly not buying one for a couple years, and even then, not new. It's got to drop 5 pounds and $350 for me to even consider it.

Star Fox Command is really good. It's very fun and has very strong multi-player. It has the same control technique as Metroid Prime Hunters, but you only need one button on the DS it self (shoot), which makes control easier and very intuitive, actually.

I'd rank that game up with MarioKart DS and Dragon Quest Heroes (which are arguably, the two best DS games to date).

The only bad part is the actual plot is so-so, and the game it self is pretty short, but there is actually replay value, since there are paths you cannot go down the first time through. The game also has a tactics element which is pretty well done.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

GTA4

Halo3

I may get a Wii so I'll get excited about those games when it happens.

But #1 is EP2, thats all I need. TF2 and Portals are just 16 pounds of icing on the cake.

Crono Crono shhhhhhhh. Take a Chill Pill, have a panadol.

I just find/found it the most boring game ever. Go through a level killing un-challenging enemies, get to the boss who is like the same every time. Move onto the next world and do the exact thing again. And apart from the intro and ending movies (more on that later) the rest is just seeing the boss explode. They re-used the exploding sound effect in every movie :o.

I promised that we would get back on the topic of movies so here we are. The ending movie was like, wtf? Anyway, it was probably a game for the fans to enjoy and say (as you did) an fps on a hand held console.

Crono I think that I should give you my freind "Nick" 'z email adress so you two guys can talk about nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto all day  . No really I should.

I heard that the playable version of Crysis at E3 wasn't running at it's highest settings and the machines were high-end (Like, 4GB of memory and a GF8800GTX) and there was still some lag issues. I imagine those will be taken care of through optimizations, however. (I hope they are)

Crysis runs on XP and Vista as does Gears of War. There are cracks out right now that get Halo 2 and Shadow Run to work on XP as well.
Lost Planet supports both operating systems too.

There's nothing "good" that is Vista only at this point in time.

Hmm, so games in the near future will only run on Vista because Vista will be the only operating system supporting DX10, and the games will require DX10?

That kind of sucks. Most of the "XP games" have support for older operating systems like Windows 2000, right?

I was playing around with my dads Vista Laptop earlier today and man, Vista is a piece of crap. I installed a game than some dumbass window came up and said that the setting's that I used "May" not be compatible with Vista and there was a button on the window that says "Re-Install With recommended settings". OMG.

But we will all have to one day resort to Vista or move onto another OS like mac. We can't just stay in the dark ages.

And as far as I know, all games that work on Xp also work on 2000.

Thanks to the wonderful irony of monopolism, the only games I have found not to work for Windows 2000 are games from Microsoft Game Studios. AoEIII even does work fine for Win2000, but you have to hack the installer to avoid an incompatibility abort.

What forced me to finally... "obtain" XP was that they are using an obscure and obviously unnecessary network feature that is - what a coincidence - only available on Windows XP.

They're perfecting their technique with DirectX10 now.

There are a lot of people who don't ever want to get Vista, I know heaps. I don't ever want Vista but my next pc will probably have to be Vista.

Anyways I think Xp is the best Operating System out of em all.

<DIV class=quotetext>I wonder how many people, like me, are determined to never buy Vista. The last poll steam said only 6% of people have downgraded to vista... but that was like 4 months ago.</DIV></DIV>

I'll probably use it but never ever pay for it, I can tell you that. I hope other companies and operating systems will make their way into the OS market and make it more competitive. With only one major OS, and 95% of all popular games being playable on it alone, it isn't easy to just switch to another one for an average user, and M$ can make it as crappy as they want.

May I ask what different OSes you've tried? Just out of curiosity.

I have my current build set up to dual boot between XP and Vista. I haven't booted into Vista in about a month. Vista is bloated with all these "security" features that overall make the system harder to use. On top of that, figuring out how to disable that garbage is a job in its self. The control panel is crippled, even on classic view. Also, it doesn't even work correctly. Vista does not recognize what type of video card I have (Geforce 8800GTS) and refuses to let me install the correct drivers for it. I have tried everything from updated mother board drivers to BIOS updates, all amounting to nothing. I gave up and have yet since booted into Vista. Its trash at the moment. </rant>

If there comes a time that XP isnt good enough to do what I want it to, I'm switching to Linux. Does anyone know if theres a Linux version of Matlab? If there is, games are the only thing I'd lose in the transition, and there are games for Linux out there anyway.

I used vista for a while before switching to win2000, which seemed almost like a blessing after the troubles i've had with it. IMHO vista is pretty much a polished turd which fixes some bugs but adds a crap load of new ones. For instance the annoying limited-connectivity-for-no-real-facking-reason bug. All in all, it's just as unstable as XP (though the earlier builds are even buggier than system X), laggier, but pweeeeeeety.

At this point in the cycle of monoply, is there any reason to not just learn how to use Linux once they get DX10 running on it?

I don't know how OSes work, and I won't pretend to, but isn't there some way to, like the JVM, get the Vista compilers onto any other piece of hardware, including desktop computers with another OS?

It's not even close to being that simple. No one outside of Microsoft knows their code well enough to do it. The best alternative is Cedega and they're doing guess and check work based on behavior. The nasty thing about Microsoft though, is .NET. There is a method in .NET that encodes the binaries produced to such a degree that they are NOT feasibly reverse engineer-able. So, you can't even do a memory dump to look at what's going on, because things are so jumbled.

That aspect works perfectly ... but all the stuff we really need: "Buy Vista" says the MS rep.

Bunch of assholes.

The good news is, if you like id, most all of their stuff runs on Linux without any emulation.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

@ otzman : Well I have tried Windows 95 all the way to Vista. Also Imac and I've seen some screen shots of linux. Anyways if I'm wrong sorry but this is my theory as to why Microsoft Os's have so many bugs, this does not apply to Vista. Its because they are so customisable. People can create very easily all sorts of programs and smart little applications in a wide range of languages and alter things very easily. Cracks for games are all easily made we can crack dvd and all sorts of stuff. The downside to this is all the bugs and how easy it is to screw the os. I mean look at some totally different like Linux or Mac. Now don't quote me on this but can you really do as much, change as much, create as much and use as much as you can on Microsoft OS's? Or at least as easy?

As I said does not apply to Vista.

I probably shouldn't ... but I'll ask anyway, for s**ts and giggles: What could possibly be so "unique", "customizable", and implore freedom of use that it is only available, no, possible, on a Microsoft OS? In this case, specifically, Vista?

I like how your opinion of the all encompassing "Linux" is based on screenshots ... such a complete evaluation could only be ascertained in that manner.

[comments]No bugs in "Vista", huh? So that must be why my laptop keeps getting page reference and kernel errors. Yeah, must bet that LACK of bugs.[/comments]

Here I was thinking that some sort of open source OS would be most customizable.

If only one of those existed...

Its not that windows was designed to be customizable arron. Its that windows is such a poorly designed OS, that its easy to hack or trick it into doing what you want it to do. Thats why its so open to viruses, Trojans, etc.
Here I was thinking that some sort of open source OS would be most customizable.

I think at one point window's source was leaked (as everything is in this world), and some of the code comments aka:

while(1) {
cout << "bla bla"; //this is a comment
}

were along the lines of "this better f**king work" or "im gonna kill myself if this doesnt work".

Makes you think huh? these are the genuises running our world...
