Map Description

RELEASED AUGUST 2004. People's Choice of 2004 Snarkpit Competition.
To install: open "persia" in the .zip, and extract the 5 or 6 folders into "valve". I don't know why it's even in "persia", I'm stupid.

When I played Prince of Persia, what really stuck out for me was the level design. All of it was very seamless and connected - you had a genuine feeling of where you were going throughout the palace and it all seemed like one place. Flash forward a few months. I slave away at the last second and barely pump out a map for the competition. I'm such an idiot!

damn you cj! now I have competition (and now that reno lost his map! loL~L btw reno start rebuilding it NOW!!~)

I like how it looks but yeah outside is overbright andlacks shadows. Both not very good for a night time setting eh?

You should try applying the glow a bit more I reckon - it looks cool on the cloth, but how about using it on the windows and things?

It's actually a separate modification. You can give any map the "glow treatment", I guess.

google search some Aurora Borealis shots.. that would look cool in your new map CJ :smile:

I think you need to make it so there are some stronger shadows being cast onto that area. It seems very bright for night time, and I can't see any lights...

The new fangled glow-thingy looks nice, but perhaps could do with toning down a bit? The second screenshot, the cloths look like they are emiting light. Still great textures/ing, good idea using a masked texture for the spikes along the top of the wall too :biggrin:

Hmm, trying to find Another World but no luck. Maybe a company would see fit to remake it into 3d or something? :smile:

Oh, and time to briefly bring this thread back on-topic (unfortunately). Mangled a few new textures and practically ripped a scene out of Prince of Persia - yeah, I'm shameless and have no creativity. :smile:

(Trying out the new fangled glow-thingy by DeathWish. Additive cloth-things don't convert too well, as they're way too bright. Oh well, not like anyone will actually play this map anyway.)
