Happy Birthday Snarkpit
Let's hope technology reverses and allows us all to return to HL1 mapping. I'd be back in a flash!
And Orph, we've had our disagreements in the past too, but the beauty of it is we are (eventually) capable of seeing rights and wrongs in both our opinions.
Here's to another 5 years of The Snarkpit!

I just got around to reading Cass's post, and its 100% spot on. In its heyday this was the only website I would read, cause it was one of the few HL sites worth its salt, and thinking about the old days and old events like me inadvertantly breaking Mikee's brain still make me crack a smile.
Sadly, the day HL1 mapping died my passion for computer games and their development died with it. And it was replaced with bitterness and cynicism, cause I missed my chance to become a great mapper and I got to watch the decline of modding, mapping, and computer gaming in general. Nothing can compare to the entertainment I had opening WC and just noodling around, imagining someday my newest fledgling map could become something worth playing, and I wish I could get that back, just for a little bit.

haha well the .01% chance that your map could win an award from Valve and get added to every single HL2DM maplist is a reason to give it one last shot
