Christmas Snarks will be sifting through our monitors soon. We need to give thought to our Christmas Avatars.

I wish I'd saved mine from last year. It was perfection.

I want to remember to make mine soon.

Bitch gripe, bitch grip.

At least its not another "Recently" thread.

Course, I could have dug up a really old thread, more attuned to the present need. :heee:

Then I bet, you'd bitch grip about that too.

Why don't you go find an editing problem to solve and leave me be..

This thread was intended, as Duncan so crudely point out, to be a general catch all thread. It wasn't truly about Christmas.

If you don't wanna edit your AV now, no biggie. But it will be interesting to note the additions and creativity.

I am surprised at how many have simply put red hats and white beards. Being a group of creative members, this is odd.

Then again, it fits so, I imagine its inevitable.

Random thought:

I hate how excel automatically changes a date when I type it in, for example:

2-nov-2006

changes to

I am so thankful that MS wants to help me write the dates correctly, but I'd just like to write them my way. So if someone knows how to change this, please tell me.

Ok, seems like Right Click In The Cell -> Format Cell... -> Change dd-mmm-yy To dd-mmm-yyyy did the trick. Googled a bit and it seems like there's no way to save the custom format and use it is standard. Hope this has been implemented in Office 2007. Think I had the same problem with Open Office too.

Music used in commercials kills the music. Music used in movies can make it popular, too, but without taking it's soul.

Not at all. Have you heard the song 'Mad World' in the Gears of War commercial? God, that is easily the best commercial in the world.

Haven't seen that. But if it's the Mad World I think of, Donny Darko already sold that one pretty well! . I might check it out.

Hmmm... It's just that I know a lot of songs that I really liked during the commercials, then when I heared then in the radio or anywhere else I couldn't get the logo of the commercial out of my head. It somehow gets imprinted and I can never hear those songs again without thinking Levis, Vodaphone, Coca-Cola whatever. It's like some sort of uneasy conditioning.
Why snark works.

I really don't think that song fits that commercial. I mean, I like the song and the rendition they did for Darko is phenomenal (compare it to the 70s/80s disco version original)

Generally, the commercial is too quickly paced for that song. (I don't really see why people are going ape s**t over it either. Good song, Good game, they don't go well together: so what?)
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Naw, they kick ass together. Like when that big thing pops out and he starts shooting at it. It slowly zooms out and you see the monsters immensity, and the song goes

'Going nowhere, going nowheeeeeere' and like fades out. Man. That was awesome.

here's a completely random thought. map collaboration.

I think everyone has maps they gave up on that have \ had
potential. Several people working on multiple maps together might be something fun to do.

Of course there will be problems with creative differences... eh, just a thought.

It feels a bit weird to work on top of something someone else created! Although this is probably where mapping is heading. It already happens with props in a way. It's difficult to get that in custom mapping outside of a mod project, though.

A mosaic project sounds like fun though. I once participated in one with 3 other guys when I was mapping for RF.
