I know it won't fix a damn thing, but I had to try, seems like there's some Snark venom in the water in this pit, and it's their turn at the drinking hole.

Me and my flatmates played it on our LAN all of yesterday basically - onslaught is the s**t  My one gripe is that the scorpion (the little jeep) is a fair bit overpowered - that link gun style thing is far too powerful against nodes, you can take one out in no time if you just do quick shots with it.
As for ripping off Halo - true enough some of the vehicles are comparable (Hellbender = Warthog, Mantra = Ghost, Raptor = Banshee, Goliath = Scorpion), but in all honesty, they are kinda standard issue vehicle types for a sci-fi FPS! Halo wasn't exactly being hugely original when it came up with these vehicle types was it, so its not as if it has any right be the one and only holder of these vehicle styles!
I was really impressed by the assault mode, its a really good improvement over the one from UT. Would be nice to see some with vehicles in, chasing after convoys and so on
Whoever knocked the DM map is somewhat wrong to state opinion as fact, personally I enjoyed it, although its not a patch on the assault and onslaught maps. It flowed well, weapons were well placed, plenty of vertical combat, and it looked good to boot. Perhaps it could be seen as lazy to be reusing many of the same meshes and textures as UT2003, but when the full game is coming with over 100 maps, you won't find me complaining!

The vehicularz are nice, I like the scorpion. But its all been done in Halo. UT is not good enough to be released once a year.

/me downloads, even though my current computer is going to stutter with this.
I hope the university doesn't bash me for this abuse of bandwidth!

is now totaly hooked
I'm getting real good at the "Raptor" which allows you to play where ever you want in the map, fires red energy things and rockets. I've played all the maps that come with the demo and there is a real mix in quality among them. In one hand you have the pure ownage that is on-Torlan and one the other this very shoody CTF map which is incredibly sucky. The double domination is just to big and open to be fun.
Now the assault map. This could of been a really fun map, but the continuous melee of automatic weapon fire just makes it pointless. The intro to the map was quite good, (you have to steal some WMDs from these moving vehicles) but the level just doesn't play right. As I said earlier, os-Torlan is great fun even offline, and the vehicles you get are a pleasure to play with/blow up. Think thats it.

I don't get what his problem is. He takes everything so seriously, attacks me personally... and most of what I said about HL2 in this thread wasn't that negative, I WANT HL2 how many time do I have to freaking say it?! I'm just a bit more skeptical is all, and I'm not building it up to be the freaking second coming.
Just leave me the hell alone and stop being a jerk ffs  .
[edit] am I really as bad as he says?! I'm sorry if I am, I'll try to stop... :/

Since UT2004 is so similar to its predessecor, I can't imagine that many people looking for new editing sites for it - most will go to the existing UT2003 websites. As such I can't imagine this site becoming popular for UT games, but that said I've been wrong more than right in the past
I still think it would be good to add support though, at LEAST for maps.

The newest version of UnrealEd (the official, and as far as I know, ONLY UT editor) will ship with the game, although if you have UT2003 then look on the third disk and it will be there I believe, if it isn't installed by default.
I believe the release date is sometime in March here in Europe.

to my knowledge, UnrealED is always installed by default.
if you have any full version installed, look for the big green "U"
i reflect reno's thoughts on Unreal support, no "new" members will arrive, or few maybe.. but i would love to see some room for our own products.. unrealed is cumbersome, but no one can doubt its associated with a wonderful engine.

Few interesting points raised..
Halo - fairly groundbreaking with its vehicle inclusion, but tbh they handled like crap and were boring, unversatile lumps. in fact that whole game is a clunky non-descript mess.
UT - certainly isnt good enough to be released with such frequency, they should spend less time trying to encamp on an area which Tribes has already done a thousand times better. building on what they had from the original unreal tournament is the way forward, add more SP elements and so forth..
unrealed - im not sure if it installs by default all the time orph, at least on the orginal anyhow..

There is an option to install development tools with every Unreal game. I don't think that really counts as default, but it's definately there on the CD with all of them.

Halo rocks, and its vehicles are vastly superior to the ones found in UT2004 in my opinion. The one downside is there aren't enough of them, on the Xbox version at any rate, with only 3 different ones available to use (no banshee?!?!?!). Admittedly I've not played the PC version but on the Xbox the vehicles handle like a dream - popping wheelies with the ghost and jumping onto the roofs of bases, or powersliding the warthog to slide into 2 battling enemies and steal both kills. UT2004 just doesn't have these physics simulated nearly as well, but I feel it makes up for this by the variety of the vehicles. Fingers crossed Halo 2, with its Xbox Live support and much wider vehicle selection, will make a great game that much greater.

I doubt a tutorials section would be necessary since there are already plenty of tutorial sites. There are plenty of sites for maps too I suppose, but I'm thinking this would be more for current Snark Pit members interested in UT instead of bringing in new people.
Maybe you'd want to see how many people would actually use it before you went ahead with it. I know several people here have used UnrealEd, but I'm not sure if anyone else has actually released anything. I think KFS said his future DM projects are going to be for UT, but I'm not positive. Anyway, it probably could at least be as active as the CoD section

Amazingly enough, it runs on my P3 600 / GF2 / 128MB !
Almost all of the settings are turned all the way down, but it's still the same great game.

I played the demo last weekend, having never played any UT before, and I was completely amazed by the whole game. Definitely one I'll buy when it comes out.

I used to play UT online quite a lot, in a clan and things, but left after it became too laggy on my modem. I've not had a net connection on my computer since I went to uni and so with UT2003 we just play it over our LAN, which is fun but gets a bit dull.
The UT2004 demo has proven so popular in my flat that Onslaught is on almost every day, though I rarely play it as I think I'll get bored of it playing it at the rate they do. Suffice to say all 5 of us in the flat have pre-ordered it and are finally getting around to getting ADSL installed, hopefully a week or so after our phoneline is put in next week.

We are getting 1Mb ADSL - the standard in this country anyway is 512mb. Hopefully that will make it good enough to play online with at least 4 - the fifth isn't really a big online games player (as in he has never done it, and I can't imagine he will much).
