Meh, I can't remember how I stumbled upon it, it was years ago...I only started to coming here often a few months back though. I guess a friend introduced me to the site, or something. it may have been MrBen, but I'm not so sure..

I think it must of been when I did a few reviews for 'biohazard' maps on PHL, and Snarkpit was like our 'rival' of some kind. If I was bored enough I would look it up in IM logs, but umm.. not today. Then there was something about PHP or some nonsense like that
/me takes opertunity to thank Lep for uber kudos on 'about' page... I don't think I deserve it though!

I blame two people for me coming to and staying at the Snarkpit: Orph and Mikee. It's always a good sign when your first post on Snarkpit v3 starts a 150 reply flamewar.

I think it was originally from looking up editing tutorials and things, though I sort of joined the place when I was looking to pimp my map Elixir when it was getting released. People liked the map but told me to post beta versions so they could give useful feedback...so I did

I found this place way back when I first started mapping. That was years ago. I visited it on and off for like two years untill I had gone through all the available tutorials, and finaly had a map I thought was good enough for public comment (Nuclear_Research).

Not been keeping up the advertising really have you, Lep  Maybe an international prime-time TV advertising campaign would be in order.

Someone posted a link on a forum I regurarly visited, and I just clicked away ... no regrets
off-topic: Crackerjack, that is one of the best Pink Floyd albums you have there in your ava .. "Animals" is good too ... but nothing really beats "Wish You were here" ... good choice

Jeff, we were once mentioned for some OP4 news in PC Gamer, but otherwise yeah I think you're right about the prime-time TV advertisements- we're lacking visitors from South America and Inner Mongolia, to be honest.

I found it because of the excellent leak-finding tutorial, and more or less stayed after a while.

can't honestly recall, but to venture a plausible guess.. i drifted this way, after it was apparent PFL was going belly up..
been here much to long to truly recall, but thats about as good a reason as any.
much to leps chagrin, i am betting he wishes sometimes, PFL was still my main haunt.

I was looking for some terrain tutorials one night and stumbled upon Reno's "Triangle Terrain" series
[partial-thread-derailment]
Great tutorials by the way, man. They've been helpful

<!-- ZoneLabs Popup Blocking Insertion -->Hmmm,I've just thought of something, I made this poll yet I haven't even said how I got here, about a year ago when the good old IGO cybercafe was open a friend of mine told me that you can make maps for counter strike, when he was looking for some n00b tutorials he said this site has some great ones,[that was version 3]. and in this version I signed up

I signed on december '03... I'd seen many links to snarkpit around, thought I'd go there and check it out.
Best forums I've seen on a HL editing site, ever.

I found it first via the reviews section - Lep. had reviewed my map gmdm1 - and then realised that there were these funky forum things  First forums I ever used, in fact.

I searched for something, I can't remember what but it was mapping related. I found snarkpit and I thought it could be helpfull so I registered.

I came here from some tutorial link I think about a year and a half ago. My maps have evolved a great deal since then but it's all been from making observations and not usually asking much.

I discovered the snarkpit while looking for editing tutorials; I remember I added a couple of HL related links in my favorites like Valve-erc, Global Assault, and something called "ten four" (dedicated tor Single Player maps). But I guess this was the friendliest  , that's how the snarkpit became my virtual hang-out.
