See if you can tell wether their smiles are genuine or not. I got 17/20, but I missed one so there's a possibility I could have gotten 18. It tells you how to differentiate after so it could come in handy. Post your scores!

Ps: Some of them have strange heads.

A mere 14. I think some of it can be attributed to whether you find them attractive or not though. But yeah, I guess I'm pretty bad at reading people's faces. Why doesn't PBS ever have anything interesting like this?

[edit] Attractive Brits exist! I read about them in my fairy-tale book.

They really did have some ugly people there though. Of course I'll think their smiles are fake. Except that guy with the giant gap in his teeth.

You may be crap at reading peoples faces, but at least you're honest. 14 isn't bad though, especially if you're not completely sure what you should be looking for.

[edit] Attractive? They're brits!

16.

I didn't use any of the methods listed there, actually, and it worked pretty well. But I won't tell anyone unless you really want to know, since A_S seems to have issues with that

Obveously, since most people got better than 10/20 people have a natural ability to spot fake smiles without the aid of any specif ic ques. I just wnt on my gut feeling.

I've personally found it easier to tell whether a woman is faking or not (Don't even try it). Since I don't look at men smiling too often (or ever).

Oregon must be a pretty dismal place if the guys don't smile that much.

I wonder what the people in the pictures were actually smiling at...?

I went with my gut, and got 18/20. One thing that I noticed, is when the smile seemed genuine, it looked like they had to fight a little to 'tuck' it back in; like the camera man cracked a joke, then said "ok..now stop smiling". The fake smiles just seemed like a smile 'switch' was turned on, then off.

Oh..and how spoiled we are by all the gorgeous people on television. Those people looked pretty average to me.

6/20, but then I had no idea what I was supposed to be judging - I thought I was picking between real and computer simulated smiles, not the way it really worked.

Hey now! I think the Gallery of Horror actualy compares quite favorably to the mugs they showed in this smile thing.

And yes, Oregon is quite a dismal place most of the year. Probably much the same as england. it rains all the time.

Oregon isn't THAT dismal ... however, I've lived here my entire life and I'm used to (some times welcoming) the rain. However, summer and autumn are rather beautiful.

Secondly, I don't pay attention to smiling men.
I wonder what the people in the pictures were actually smiling at...?
YOU! Mwhahahahaha.

No, probably some guy making an ass out of himself ... or waiting for some guys cue so they can smile.

I'm in Vancouver, known for its drizzle and wet weather, but this year has been really, really dry. We're really screwed for water in the summer.

Pretty much the same, of the first line I only got one right, but that's because I misinterpreted the context. Then of all the last ones I only got one wrong.
